ASYLUM DUAL WIELD WEAPONS SUCK, HELP ZOS MAKE THEM BETTER!

I am not going to write a bunch of paragraphs and dive super deep into why they don't perform great in both PVE and PVP, most of us are aware of the main issues... I mean buffing the duration of rending, blade cloak, and lacerate is lacking and/or disappointing to say the least. I honestly do not know what the mark is that they were aiming for, regardless, we are all human and make mistakes once and a while. There are only really 3 main aspects of play that I generalize these weapons into ; single target, aoe, and pvp. I honestly cannot create any rotation/build/playstyle that incorporates these new upcoming weapons while boosting performance. I, along with many others, have been anxiously waiting for these weapons to hit the PTS to see what ZOS had in store for us. The bad news is that the weapons are rather disappointing in their current state. The good news is that ZOS has no problem changing things on the PTS, especially this early! A few things do help drastically in this effort for change. Ideas, giving ZOS things to consider and build on. Most importantly, community support, things will not change without the community speaking up about what they would like to see.

Personally, I can think of a couple solid suggestions.

Give them a significant boost to aoe damage (75% more damage on steel tornado or a damage increase to ground dots) making them clearly BIS for aoe situations.

or

Keep the same mechanic they currently have, but perhaps include all dots instead of just rending/cloak/lacerate? I really do not see a great way to make single target parsing with steel tornado weaving viable. Although that does seem like it is the route ZOS would like to take, so if all dots can be affected that could be the boost they need?


I have made this thread in hopes to induce some change to these weapons. Please voice your opinion on what you would like to see these weapons do for live release.

EDIT: Coincidentally, a couple hours after I made this thread, @Gilliamtherogue dropped a youtube video on this very subject. Considering he has much more knowledge and credibility regarding pve combat in ESO, I am linking his video below and invite you to watch it. He has the same view of perhaps having the mechanic of these weapons affect every dot, which is cool. I personally would like to see a big damage increase on the steel tornado skill or ground aoe dots while using nado, increasing stam dps aoe damage when having these weapons equipped.

    I feel the DW weapons will be questionable in their current design, however it is questionable how to fix it. Extending all dots buy using whirlwind would certainly be OP since it would be effecting what, half a dozen dots at one time.

    One ability use, whirlwind.

    Extends three dot duration timers one of which is an ultimate.

    Not sure how it will parse but it pretty solid.

    Oh, you mean like Maelstrom weapons (requires Orsinium DLC)? I guess at least Master's weapons do not require any DLC, although Craglorn probably would have been a DLC if the game had not been subscriber-based at the time.

    certain maelstrom weapons were are still in BiS and that is locked behind orsinium dlc, so its been happening for years

    I don't think these weapons are being included to surpass current DPS in the current BiS builds. Pretty sure they're here to function as catalysts for other niche builds.

    Take the Asylum Daggers: Great PvP tool considering Bleed Damage bypasses all resistances.Could Pair it with the Master's Daggers to get a really nasty Bleed DoT going. Hell Slap on Twin Sisters and Blooddrinker and really get a Bleed DoT Build going.

    Though, I Do think that the asylum DW could also extend the duration of the TB&B Axe Bleed as well. If that ever gets patched.

    So basically you're saying the people that work for ZoS couldn't possibly be human because they're making a massive amount of irrational mistakes every single day/patch
    I'm a PVE roleplayer concerned about my vampires stage 4 skin tone and keep getting load screens so I came here to distract people from major issues with a rant thread about my characters cosmetic appearance.

    I am comming from a pvp stand point because its the true end game content. This is one of my last posts and or last attempt on the forums i will say this.

    Whirlwind is to expensive in heavy armor and wouldn't viable in any situation in pvp. It's the only way to pvp now if your not a nightblade, and evenusing medium and it still under preforms. Medium is still an issue.... btw

    As the only stam sorc orc DW/Bow in pvp Ps4Na 4 Star playing DW/bow for over a year. Id start with changing the Rampaging Slash enchant to sword and mace instead of axe and dagger ( leaving the Cruel Flurry enchant )

    And the Asylum Weapons the Chaotic Whirlwind would massively under preform in all situations.

    When i throw my dots on npcs or pvp enemies i do not need another 10 sec to do damage. Because of my rotations are clean, timed and thought of in calculated attacks. If ZOS is trying to implement a new way of attacking then this would NOT be the answer.

    Suggestions to Alsylum Weapons ? I have none because we are not heard as true pvpers.

    The only thing I could guess that they had in mind was some sort of sustain boost since you don’t need to the affected abilities as often. But yeah an aoe boost would be great since stam dps lack aoe damage.

    It would not be that OP. I actually prefer to see them increase steel tornado's damage by 75% tbh. Would be great to see some weapons that produce better aoe damage for stam builds.

    Really? Come on man... Any pvper with half a brain purges dots within a few seconds of them appearing. The difference between 9 seconds or 19 seconds does not matter, at all.

    Only had a quick skim through as these weapons in current state are bad and giving feedback is worthless. With the addons floating around these days, especially auto-purge, its 1 second max )

    Giving feedback is not worthless, if enough opinions are voiced they do get heard. One of the only ways to induce changes in this game are blowing up threads in the forums. WE NEED MORE BLOWING UP!

    I would think the best way to make them viable would be to keep them as they are but add a 30% dmg increase, increase or decrease to balance, to the abilities when they are refreshed. So when you use whirlwind the abilities get extended and boosted. As stated it wouldn't be too strong in PvP since most would purge it. Those who wouldn't would have to try to outheal all of the dot dmg. Could be too strong or still very weak in PvP. If it makes them only pve viable so be it. It will at least make another set viable for PvP instead of just asylum, which is pve content.
    I know PvP wants some love with weapons, and they should just make a golden type vendor who sells them for large amounts of AP. Do PvP to get PvP gear, do pve to get pve gear. It is usually how other games handle not having to balance items for both type of content.

    I don't ever see these weapons being worth looking at for pvp. All half decent players purge everything within seconds, rendering these weapons beyond useless in pvp. I agree with your aspect on pvp vs pve weapons for sure. Would be nice to see pve only related gear in endgame pve content, along with pvp vendors that sell certain weapons for like 15m ap or something.

    you might get a better response from ZOS if you put your feedback for this in the PTS Forum and include it in the Asylum Weapon section, as they are reviewing these for PTS iterations

    I figured it would generate more responses in the general discussion area, but this thread is really not getting much love at all. WHY DOES NO ONE ELSE WANT THESE WEAPONS TO GIT GUD!!!

    At this point, any type of change is welcomed with open arms. The current state these weapons are in is egregious to say the least. Extremely disappointing.
