Can the Vampire Lord gear set recieve a buff?

@ZOS_GinaBruno

I ask this because War Maiden buffs the damage of Vampiric abilities to the same degree that the dedicated Vampire Lord set does, but with the added benefit of buffing the damage of all Magic based abilities...

Now the Vampire Lord gear does add a 5% Cost Reduction to Vampiric abilities, but IMHO, it isn't enough to offset what War Maiden gives...

In order to bring the Vampire Lord gear in line with War Maiden, would it be possible to give the Vampire Lord set a bit of a damage buff or an increase to the Cost Reduction to Vampiric abilities?

Thanks for your time...

Yah that set is almost as bad as the Oblivion's Foe set that only increases the damage of only Soul Trap. It even has Health Recovery as the first set bonus. Ugh.

I think OP has already found the solution. Equip War Maiden.

5% cost reduction is strong. Clearly the set is intended for someone using the skills heavily.

TBH, I think that this set should be reworked to give a specific buff or buffs while any vamp skill is active (since all 3 have nice long durations). Maybe Minor Protection while any vamp skill is active+existing effects?

Vampire Cloak already gives passive Minor Protection. It'd be pretty unimaginative IMO if both of the only "Vampire XYZ" sets in the game gave Minor Protection as part of the 5-piece. I realize one is heavy and one is light, but still.

Here's how I would have the vampire sets

    Vampire Lord
    (2pc) 1096 Magicka
    (3pc) 129 Spell Damage
(4pc) Reduce the cost of Vampire skills by 5%
(5pc) Adds 316 Spell Damage to your Vampire abilities.
    (5pc) 200 Spell Damage

    Vampire Cloak
    (2pc) 1206 Max Health
    (3pc) 4% Healing Taken
    (4pc) 129 Magicka recovery
(5pc) Gain Minor Protection at all times, reducing your damage taken by 8%.
(5pc) Regen magicka while in mist form (and it's morphs)

    Vampire's Kiss (entire set redo)
    (2pc) 4% Healing Taken
    (3pc) 4% Healing Done
    (4pc) 129 Weapon/Spell Damage
(5pc) Reduces the Vampire stage requirement of vampire passives by 1 stage. Reduces the severity of the Flame Damage determent in Vampirism stages 2 through 4.

Lord makes your spell damage with all magicka skills improved by half as much as War Maiden, but similarly to big sets such as armor of truth, scathing mage, etc for just 3 skills. By moving the reduced cost to the 4pc you could technically use this for the skill cost reduction, a 5 pc somewhere else, and a monster set with it.

Cloak actually would help vampire tank work with ice staffs by letting them reduce damage with mist form but not get impacted on gaining magicka back. This would let the tanks regen their main stat. With the removal of spell damage to the set this is a major drain on DPS since there is only health jewelry and no increase to dps within the set itself. This should help balance someone that chooses to wear Cloak/Lord or Cloak/Kiss and not be OP.

Kiss is built around countering the impact of being a higher stage vamp. The increased healing will help counter the lack of regen, the increased weapon/spell damage allows for class heal skills to do more damage and potentially heal for more. Adds a similar function to flame damage taken as health recovery in the passive unnatural resistance. Effectively this makes being in stage 3 the same as being in stage 4 currently (vamp DPS concern), and allow a stage 2 vamp to have 0 increased flame damage while being able to get the increase magicka regen and access to the resists in the undeath passive (vamp tank concern). This has a small increase to DPS but since this is crafted, it has no jewelry.

I've experimented with both sets extensively, and the fact of the matter is that the 5% cost reduction is ok; its definitely not what I would call strong (its absolutely overshadowed by what War Maiden gives)...

For my build, that 5% cost reduction brings the cost of Invigorating Drain down from 1600+ Magicka to 1500+ Magicka and brings the cost of Devouring Swarm down from 150 Ult to 140 Ult...

Neither of these cost reductions make a significant difference compared to what I get from War Maiden (War Maidens buff to Puncturing Sweeps alone is very powerful); when I am rebuilding Ult (for example) the difference in time it takes for me to go from 140 to 150 is negigible...

The same applies for the sustain difference when using Invigorating Drain; 100 Magicka savings for an ability that lasts for 3 secs is next to nothing...you barely notice a sustain difference.

When you compare this to War Maiden amping the power of all your Magic based damage abilities (and I am a Magicka Templar, so everything I use is Magic based damage), the difference in power between the two sets is immediate and obvious...

Vampire Lord gear should be (as a whole) atleast on par with War Maiden since War Maiden amps all Vampiric damage abilities and then some...

The Vampire Lord set needs an amp of some sort...point blank.

(2 items) Adds 1096 Max Magicka

(3 items) Adds 129 Spell Damage

(5 items) Adds 400 Spell Damage to your Vampire abilities. Reduces the cost of your Vampire abilities by 5%.

It's highly specific DMG but the toolkit can be counted on one hand. The 5pc could receive an 8% cost reduction to match sets like seducers/alteration mastery which are higher.

    "

This would reward players for sticking with high vamp stage with it's high costs. 400 SD for all your spells would match sets like War maiden but have a nice RP flavor.

Ontop of some of the set changes proposed here, I would propose a few new skills too. To really justify running a set that buffs only vamp skills.

I think it would be really cool to have a gap closer like the one morph of the bat ult that teleports you to near by enemies, but this skill allows you to teleport and hit a targeted enemy.

It might be cool to have a fear ability too, but that may be too detrimental to NB appeal.

Perhaps a ground AOE you can drop, a pool of blood like we see so many bosses do. This could be a nice PVE addition, even though I only pvp.

That's all I got for now. Cheers
