Why would making merciless resolve a toggle be a buff? Seems like a nerf to me

I think he means making it more like a Sorc's Crystal Frags: have a chance on skill usage while the buff is active to proc the bow
Honestly, would make it less clunky, but the damage would prob need to be adjusted as the arrow hits like a truck

Exactly!!!
But no to the damage reduction; all the sorcs other skills do more than a NBs; so in longer battles NB will become on par with Sorcs.
I know some with specific sets can get the proc to hit very high for burst dps; but for competitive trial/MSA/dungeon dps, most nb builds require sets that don't focus on increasing a single proc's damage but overall damage; resulting in approx~22k max damage crit for the proc
-
If it's going to get damage reduced; then radiant destruction, crystal frags and overload also need nerfs on temps / sorcs
The goal of toggling merciless resolve is to improve the rotation and be more forgiving for the general NB population, to make them competitive endgame

22k max dmg critic proc? Mine hit 44k average, 52k with a good team (buff me debuff boss). My dps is 23k though...
They dont need to make it a toggle, just dont recast it everytime after you shot the arrow. Make the skill to auto refresh when you shot the arrow (with no initial animation), that would make that NB can keep doing DPS while shooting arrows in between, without the need to stop to recast the first animation again and again.

My dps on bloodspawn/trials is 28k; my arrow will crit for about 22k damage
Lol agreed mine always would hit in the 40-50k range (solo so no group buffs like warhorn). It'd be pretty great if it could be animation cancelled as well without just disappearing. Why would making merciless resolve a toggle be a buff? Seems like a nerf to me

Why does the bow only hit the target like 1-2seconds after you fire it?
I have a fully ranked up magblade (I'm pretty terrible at it though) and the spectral bow is just shocking. I'll see it fire.... wait for the damage to register.... then 2 seconds later the person will dodgeroll and it misses >.>
Does anyone else have this problem? Sorry for the slight topic diversion.
Gilliamtherogue wrote: »The best fix for Relentless/Merciless would have the buff last 20 seconds, and every 4th light or heavy attack triggers the option to cast the Spectral Bow as it already does. However, instead of having to recast the buff before activating the Spectral Bow after another 4 light/heavy attacks, simply have the stack counter refresh, to reactivate the prompt to use Spectral Bow again. After 20 seconds the buff dissipates and must be maintained, or you could even lower the duration to 12 or 16s to compensate from some of the damage gain.
That being said, I do not believe this to be enough to put Magicka (or Stamina) Nightblades up to par with the other classes. Cripple and Debilitate current are severely under performing when compared to others, and the lack of access of a class Stamina DoT leaves the Stamblade even further behind.
To make matters even worse, currently Twisting Path (the damage specific morph of Path of Darkness) is dealing almost HALF the damage of Wall of Elements, or other class ground AoEs such as Liquid Lightning. I do not think increasing the damage to be identical to WoE to be the best choice, but some damage increase in form of raw number tweaking, or even dynamic game play effects (standing in Path of Darkness increases Magic damage enemies take by 10%, akin to DK's Engufling Flames for fire?) would not only help the Magblade become more in line with other classes, but also add unique diversity to want them to be used in groups for their utility (since Nightblades currently bring the lowest amount of team based utility).
hmm no to toggle that would be insanely *** for balance.
maybe make it you cast it and ever 4 light/heavy attacks it self procs until it runs out of time. ideally looking at ~4 with light attacks ~2 with heavy attacks per cast.

Merciless Resolve does not have to be cast every 4 attacks. It lasts awhile. Only the proc damage becomes available at 4 light/heavy attacks but also remains available until the buff wears off.
Toggle not needed.
