Hi Mr.
@Wrobel ,
We, the passionate members of the ESO player community, appreciate when you offer insight and share class visions/intentions with us through communication on the forums and ESO Live. Your willingness to engage us in discussion makes us feel appreciated and welcomed here and within the game itself. Perhaps you could once again grace us with your presence, here, to further discuss the Templar class.
Ever since the ESO Live episode when you informed us that Templars are often about standing in areas of protection ("housing"), the community has gained a better understanding of how Templars are constructed within the game. Unfortunately, the current state of alliance war game play is making Templar areas of protection a very difficult house to live in due to the following three reasons, which I hope you can offer some insight on:
1)
Unwelcome Guests
When in Cyrodiil, the threat of Proximity Detonation and the Vicious Death set forms a potent combination for handling players who group closely together. Such a combination makes it essential for players to be smart, and know when to stay away from allies. For mobile classes, such as Nightblades and Sorcerers, quickly moving away from allies on the battlefield is quite easy. Templars, however, often experience many allies who will group up within our "house" of protection to gain the benefits of a skill like Purifying Ritual. This grouping occurrence is often a death sentence for Templars. Once one or two "unwelcome guests" (allies) hop into our house - especially when they are weak - they become the equivalent of wrecking balls for the inevitable Vicious Death proc. Our houses are very desirable locations for allies, but lately their visitation has been a consistent cause of Templar deaths.
I understand that the Vicious Death set is a much discussed topic here on the forums and that everyone has their own opinion regarding the particular set. Please understand, though, that the set is especially harmful to Templars who rely heavily on housing, which attracts allies and consequential death. Perhaps we can discuss a Templar-specific resolution for dealing with our immobile, ally-magnetic housing, which currently is acting more like a anticipatory grave than a safe haven.
2)
Mobility
As you mentioned in the aforementioned ESO Live, Mr. Wrobel, Templars are designed to lack the major expedition buff to help create a different feel for classes. The decision is logical for a class who relies on standing in areas of protection. However, with those areas being significantly compromised when allies visit our immovable houses, could we consider or talk about making those areas of protection "move" with our character? Perhaps Rune Focus and Cleansing Ritual could be cast upon ourselves, instead of the ground, and would move with us as we slug around the battlefield?
3)
Lack of a House Protection Ultimate
Perhaps the most painful part about trying to build a Templar house in PVP, is the lack of a reliable, and consistently available, defensive ultimate. The Nova ultimate offers some defense for house protection, however it remains one of the most expensive ultimate abilities in the game and can not be generated quickly enough to be considered valuable for house protection. I have heard some great suggestions by players who mention that a significantly cheaper and more defensive morph of Nova, with damage removed, could help us protect our houses. Would such an idea be worth considering, Mr. Wrobel?
Thank you for your time, Mr. Wrobel, and we look forward to hearing from you.
Love,
The Templar Housing and Construction Team
