Rollback yes or no

I prefer to think of it as a 'haircut.' Just trim all accounts back to a max of 100K gold and eliminate all gold materials and any gold items that are not equipped to a character.

A simple haircut, that would only affect those players who either cheated or are so good at the game that they'll have no trouble at all getting their stuff back. And relatively easy to do, I would think it's probably a few database function calls.

This is the best suggestion so far on this imo. I can imagine though that the "elite" players will be a very vocal minority which would protest on these forums against such a solution.

Full rollback and I'll resub, thats it, there are enough cheaters, bots and dupers to make it worth the rollback...

I've just been running around enjoying the game, not even aware that there was a duping scandal...

Then again I simply enjoy the game, I don't care what someone else has or has not done ingame as it does not impact my life.

    This.

    Times a few hundred thousand.

No worries casual gamers... this is just the pipe dream of people that don't understand how business works.

THERE WILL never BE a ROLLBACK.

To keep on talking like there is even a remote chance, is just naïve.
The number one rule of online gaming is now and has always been, Never play on Patch Day.

Explain to me, oh wise decider of what is and what isn't relevant why it isn't? A roll back effects more than just items and gold. It effects levels that people have put a LOT of time into acquiring. Someone of a lot lower level would be FAR less effected by it and may generally be inclined to side with one.

Not that it matters. It isn't going to be rolled back and any damage done to the "economy" will be nonexistent in a few months to a year.

whole guilds are being used as storage areas, and random stuff is begin given out. I haven't encountered it, but if their claims of having 20mil gold in the bank is true, the ban hammer is gonna need to come down hard.

I would be even easier for ZOS to check guild inventories for supicious amounts of money or items and doing an inquest into the members to determine if they have an unreasonable amount of gold/legendary items and , delete the guild/inventory, delete/ban the accounts found to be part of the problem.

They can't ban / remove / fix eveything this duping has done. No matter how hard they try, the ripples will never cease to exist.

    They have two choices:

    1) No rollback, and give up on Cyrodil (PvP isn't very popular in an enviroment which is rigged from the start.)
    2) Rollback - Making Cyrodil something special again, where you can compete on equal terms.

    - 1) This solution will slowly kill the game, being on a steady path towards F2P, unless something changes.
    - 2) would most likely result in a lot of immediate subscription losses.

They will go for no. 1. Everyone wants money NOW, and really don't care much about tomorrow.

-1 Why does everyone say this about pvp. I have seen no such problems in the pvp of this game. My lvl 24 and can hold my own just fine in all the fights i have been apart of. It sound like a lot of over hyped people trying to blame their inability to preform well in pvp on this, because it is convenient.

-2 A massive immediate loss of revenue would also pull the game toward a quick death and F2P model. This one seeming a more immediate threat then chancing the former.

Problems like this can be dealt with and have been dealt with in the past without a full rollback. Yes it is a serious problem, but it can be dealt with.

I will try not to respond to your attempt at trolling, and misread what you just wrote as much more polite post.

    - 1) I did fine with a lvl 20 char myself as well. I wasn't special, nor bad. But knowing that the game economy is rigged as much as it is, has unfortunately discouraged me from participating in PvP.
"See it as a challenge" is an often used reply. My reply is simply that I want an equal challenge, not a unfair challenge.
    - 2) You are most likely right, but this is also one of the best shots at fixing the game in the long run.

Personally, I am convinced that either scenario will give us F2P within 6 months.
    - I hope the devs man up, and prove me utterly wrong.

It would be better to investigate people who used the dupe exploit instead of roll back all players to day 1 EA. I wouldn't want to start all over again after i've done so much in game and neither would any body else, even if we were given a free month.

I favor the haircut idea. A full roll back would really hurt, but they need to get the cheated items and gold out of the game. I want to be here long term. Not just a couple of months and off to something else. But ZoS is really making it hard.
  • marion.coleman83_ESO
Im sorry but I will unsub if ZOS did a full rollback. Instead of punishing legit players for the problems caused by cheaters is more than enough for me to walk away. ZOS needs to do their damn job and eliminate the problem and not mass punish everyone. I do think that someone at ZOS needs to be fired for the mess that has been caused. This crap could very well cost ZOS an exorbate amount of cash.. As an investor, I'm pissed.

    Rollbacks are terrible.

It's the ZO team's job to investigate the cheaters and take actions. I don't want to know any of it or be a part of it. I play the game. Rollback would actually be the worst thing that could happen here.

The people who claim that these dupes don't imbalance the game are either cheaters themselves, or in denial.

There was a post on reddit this morning that has since been removed which showed just how one player managed to stockpile enough siege weapons to last his entire pvp guild for YEARS. Good luck fighting for a keep against a guild that has a never ending supply of them; they can use them as frivolously as they want because no effort was needed to acquire them. Oh, and they are all decked out in full legendary gear too.

There is likely more duped gold and crafting mats in this new economy now then there would be 5 years from now in a dupe-free economy. Google stories of players generating BILLIONS of gold and endless stacks of legendary mats. Who cares right? Well crafters do. Market is flooded with gear and mats already. Who is going to buy your stuff when there is so much ill gotten crap that the night before 1.04 hit the gold sellers were trying to sell millions of gold for 10 dollars (the price has normalized as the fear of banwave is over).

The idea that Zenimax will somehow remove all the gold and items from all the dupers is laughable. Major exploits were revealed in beta, but ignored. As silly as it sounds I believe they just don't care; I saw it in swtor most recently before f2p came. Milk subs while they can. Keep exploits quiet.

I think at this point, if you truly want to see this game succeed long term, then all gold and items must be removed from the servers. It has been 3 weeks, 3 weeks of gold and items to be sacrificed today so that a year from now crafting and pvp will be fair and viable. The damage done already will still be evident a year from no unless they take action.

There won't be a rollback. Removing gold items may not be a bad idea, however.

Why not?, they had a rollback the other day.
