Considering all the issues, I'm pretty sure it's safe to say that things aren't settled yet. It hasn't even been a month and we already have people saying "they could use that excuse to delay it forever" Hahahaha...

The only official statement is the one I was referring to earlier.

Ane WHY are the server maintenance always during daytime in EU server? We sure "love" to wait the server to open when we have our day off from work. If you can not move the server to EU physically, what was promised, do make sure you maintain in during U.S DAYTIME while EU is sleeping. Our money is sure as green as U.S money too !!!

To be real the scheduled downtime is always very early in the morning on weekdays. Much better timed updates than most other games EU.

See, even after ZOS changed the EU maintenance time to not be during EU prime time, there's still people who complain that they now can't play during the weeee hours of the morning.

Proof that you can't make everyone happy with maintenance times.

Did you know it's 12pm in the UK but 1pm in Paris? and in Moscow it' 4pm
When the time in london is12pm doesn't mean the time for the world is 12pm

Hell the Asian countries do have their own mega servers they have to share with either NA or EU megaservers, South korea at this time is 7pm

So no you can't make everyone happy when using a mega server.

They must transfer servers to EU thats their future! Its stupid if you are lvl 50 and died from someone level 18 because of lag latency issues....

I give them to the end of my first 3 month sub, if they aren't moved by then, im done, because the combat is so ......clunky atm because of the servers being in the US right now its ridiculous.

During beta Zeni promised that for eu player there will be a server who will be located in eu ( germany was prononced )
Actually this point is completely forgotten.
Eu player suffering lag, freeze, deconnection are waiting for the data-center to move in EU.
So when about it ? Can wa have news for it ?
Are you planning to let the Eu server in US ?

It's a perennial moan from EU players when playing on US servers, I've played WOW on the West Coast servers since 2005, I play LOTRO and Rift on US servers without any noticeable problems, I play FFXI on servers in Japan, I play FFXIV with servers in Canada likewise.

The 'internet latency' issue is largely myth and urban legend it seems to me.

Really well ok I'll swap my 270-350ms+ping which I have when connected to anything other than a EU server which I get 66 ms...In most cases I have to use a proxy server(normally smoothping) which I pay extra for to play MMO's that have their servers based in the NA,though they have not updated there program yet to use in eso  .You be surprised at what you can't do and I am hoping they move the server to the EU hub very soon,as I can't pvp,do dungeon runs and even have trouble harvesting as I rubber band lol let alone the bots ....

So it's not a myth I really wish it was

I can't even stream videos or watch twitch either and have the max available speed of 2mb/s with a download speed of 150kb/s if that...got to love living in rural oxfordshire lol ..

You will notice the "hidden" lag when you try to block some abilities that are still getting through and knocks you down because what you see on the screen is not what the server is handling. It's a major issue for tanking. That was I afraid of about active blocking enemies hits: latency. One missed active block due to latency could be the difference between a kill or death.

No it hasn't been forgotten, the game was only released two weeks ago and has serious problems, it makes perfect sense for the servers to remain in the US until the game is stable.

I'm playing from the UK without any 'lag' issues caused by internet latency. The "lag, freeze, disconnection, etc." problems are clearly mostly server-side and the location of those servers is pretty irrelevant in most cases.

It is in PvP, if you match two players of equal skill and level and one has a ping of 30 and the other of 250 the one with 30 will always win.
You can easily check your latency, I have 250+ms latency to the NA rift servers from germany for example.

Or you are lucky and have a great routing

While I agree on pretty much everything you have said, just because you dont seem to make a difference between 50ms and 250ms in a video game does not make "internet latency" is myth.

*press change weapon* nothing happens, *press it again* weapon swaps, then swaps back again because you pressed the button twice and it lagged and it's too late now anyway because you're dead.

*pree E to enter the keep* nothing happens, *press it again* you enter the keep and are safe, OH wait no you're outside again because you pressed the button twice and it lagged and you're about to get stun locked to death.

This game has a lot going for it, but honestly games like Guild Wars 2 put it to shame when it comes to fluid combat. At times this game feels like bad indy game, the combat is that laggy and jittery.

Again, you have a lot going for you with this game but the lag is really not helping.

1st world problem? Very much, but then I can always spend my money elsewhere. I won't stay much longer than 2 months if an EU server/lag fix isn't incoming.

I know it's been said in passing that it will be coming, but I learnt to not trust MMO companies on their word.

So the servers stay in the US.

So your logic is because they have indentured servitude in the US, they should forget about the EU. Yep, makes sense. Considering that at least HALF of their customers are in the EU or around it.

Exactly, this game is almost unplayable passed 9 pm here , its ridiculously laggy, and combat is a joke. Stars forbid I want to play this game and not have lag after coming home from a hard days work.

    Wrong. http://elderscrollsonline.com/en-uk/news/post/2014/03/14/eso-road-ahead

"The North American and European megaservers will first be hosted in North America. This gives us a more efficient way to address any platform issues that may arise at launch. After the initial launch phase is over, we will move the European megaserver to the European datacenter – but this will be a seamless migration for users, without additional downloads, logins or action required."

Then again they said EU players would have no lag while playing on the EU servers located in the US, which is just a flat out lie, because that is NOT possible. One cannot overcome physics.

if i look at the resource manager while running eso pveing i get 140ms and i'm pretty much in the middle of Europe. Almost all other games i play have a similar ping there, the connections neither bad nor good in general.
    I wonder
    a) how will it be when the servers are moved
    b) if thats the right place to look for the ping.
The game feels fluid to me, i just had short lags during prime times. did not check this evening though.

When the servers are moved to Frankfurt, Germany, you will have a max ping of 40ms, and more likely a ping of around 5-10. It will be a very positive and noticeable difference.

  • dw0011nrb19_ESO
Especially in PvP but also being active in PvE, dodging lethal paragraphs - you need to have a responsive ping.

Really the current issue of ESO is all about responsiveness. The delay on weapon swaps, the delay when using skills or not even using them at all when having pressed a button and ontop of it all the bad ping playing from the EU which messes up so many things.

This issue needs to be addressed soon and it would be really good to hear an official statement regarding this issue on When the EU server will be here in the EU, for us EU players!

Here in the Netherlands it also gets unplayable at certain times. I've got such lag spikes sometimes when I'm playing in a group the mobs are just warping over my screen instead of walking due to these spikes, Furthermore skills won't work also as I have to push the button 2/3 times before it responds, same with mouse click attacks..

Another thing I've noticed is that the lag is very irregular, sometimes it responds almost directly, other times I've got a delay of 2 seconds. If the lag was at a constant rate say 200/300ms you could plan your attacks ahead.

This is really frustrating because you want to play on your best in group play, but I'm not able to because due to these huge lag spikes.

Furthermore to straighten this out there is nothing wrong with my connection as I've have one of the stablest and fastest connections available in my country (15~20ms on Battlefield servers), and as far as I know the Netherlands do got one of the biggest internet exchange points of the EU, so it doesn't get any better when trying to play on a overseas server.. And PC specs wise framerate is around 50 to 60fps on ultra (lower in crowded cities), so that shouldn't be a problem / related to the latency/delays I'm experiencing.

So for me it isn't about if they place an EU server in the EU, but about when as I can't play in large group battles decently in this current state. Let alone be able to play the adventure zones with trials.. My group would fail because I'll die too often because of the lag spikes instead of my incompetence.. Doesn't seem like fun to me, and it wouldn't engage me to keep subbed if it really plays out this way in the end.
