Bank Account Being Charged?

  • Vadim

I get the feeling a lot of people posting in here haven't played many MMO's. ALWAYS have enough to pay for a month or two, by launch. Some want the money up front before giving the 30 days, some don't. Free to play will always charge nothing, and this is NOT free to play.
Don't you think we already paid them for 30 days access when pre-purchased imperial edition?

Aion, Rift, WoW, SWtoR (before F2P), FF11, FF14, LotR, and a Marvel hero MMO (can't remember the name of it for the life of me). ALL of those gave me a FULL 30 day's of FREE play time before asking me about a CC. Perhaps it's you that hasn't played very many MMO's.

BTW I shared your post there with my wife Pros...and even she's laughing at you.

For those upset over the funds check, this is actually a tool used to hinder gold spammers. Requiring the input of valid payment information gives ESO another marker to identify and block accounts made to spam for gold. This is similar to Xbox Live in that if your account is banned you can never create a new account using the same payment information. This means that a gold spammer is permanently blocked or is forced to use stolen credit card data, which is an actual crime (Fraud) that can be acted upon.

Once gametime cards are available they can be used to circumvent the above, however, it still raises the cost of access (game + time card) to then be banned within a short period of time. At some point one hopes that it costs the spammer enough to make them go away.

That shouldn't however screw things up for the players because they haven't done anything to PREVENT Gold Spammers to begin with. Sure there's addons..*** the addons! Gold Spammers are in EVERY MMO and Zenimax should have known this and built in a feature to report it. This in turn is screwing the playerbase because of misleading information with no knowledge of a surchage. I can understand, all MMO's have surcharges to verify bank accounts but compared to other MMOs Zenimax is charging a damn arm and a leg, and it's to hinder Gold Spammers? Don't give me that BS.

I have played mmos from launch both subbed and free and the subbed games I didnt have to pay upfront for the ones that gave you free time.

Saying that I always subbed by card and they never took money out.
This time I want to use prepaid game cards coz Im back at uni and need to watch pennies, and I dont think it is fair that I cant access my FREE, ALREADY PART OF BUYING THE GAME, time without purchasing a time card.

This mean I cant play unless I agree to pay at least 1 month past the FREE time. To me this isnt so much as 30 days free, which it was advertised as, but more buy 1 get 1 free!

Zenimax misled customers, and that is shady and illegal!!!!!!! Also it is just bad business sense.

@typsis That's cause they all went free to play... lol. Still, doesn't change the fact that you should budget for stuff like this. I am on a very limited income and 15 or 30 bucks is chump change if I budget for it.

I agree with all these posts about being charged 1 months' sub up front for a month that you should be getting free, I have never played a P2P MMO that took money from you in that 1st month as you've already purchased the game.

offcourse I am one of those to who has to budget for it, but that still doesnt meen I should have to have the money right now when the game cleary says 30 days of free game time, I will have the money for next month after the 30 days whit no major problems.

I don't see why they can't just remove the bank authorization. All they basically need is your account/card details linked to your account. There is no need to make a transaction at all until the 30 days are up. If it then fails when they try to take the money after 30 days and there are insufficient funds it will fail anyways. Preventing people to play their 30 free days is ridiculous and as everyone's trying to activate their 30 days it's broken the whole thing it seems. It was working fine yesterday afternoon.

5/10 troll - EVE didn't go f2p; and no, if you're truly on a limited budget no amount is chump change -- it is food, medicine or a bill. And yes, poor people are entitled to a modicum of entertainment if they pay for it.

I suppose we should stop complaining or commenting as the server is over capacity again.

@Carafina34 Hm.. it said on my account page that a sub was required. I knew that before the game launched because it said so. I budgeted money for my pre-paid VISAs. Perhaps you didn't get an account until launch day?

it's all a lie! my bank already accepted the payment a long time ago, i was billed twice, and i still have my account blocked.

anyway, i paid for the first 30 days a long long long time ago, then, they forced me to pay again for the first 30 days, and even against my will i did it, so, i paid twice for the first 30 days and they blocked my account as if i never paid. this is a huge fraud :\

simply hilarious, so they are LIARS.

    "Hello Evangelos,
I'm Dan, a representative at The Elder Scrolls Online. I'm sorry for the trouble you have been having setting up your subscription plan. Know that you will need a valid card with enough funds to pass the validation process, after which the funds will be placed back into your. I do know one reason card authentication is used by different services, is so to make sure the customer is a human, and not a computer program. if a credit card is unavailable to you, you can also you a pre-paid time card. Again, I apologize for the inconvenience and hope you enjoy your time in Tamriel.
Thank you for your continued interest and support!

    Warm Regards,
    The Elder Scrolls Online Team"

If they dont solve it soon after my new response, im taking action.

Same here! Two charges for $77.94, bank confirmed that there was no processing problem on their end. But still no subscription on my account, and I can't access the game I PAID for.

You're about as fail as I've ever seen. I'd be willing to bet if you looked a little closer at that battle chest it would say FREE 30 DAYS WITH PURCHASE. Much like this title does. You want another 30 free days w/ that Battlechest? Go by another one. Your logic honestly makes me wonder if perhaps you should be in school as oppose to a forum...

I'm honestly thinking the same thing honestly. Still have yet to hear back from either email, or phone support. Called bank to see where my card is and it's "being processed" which means another week or 2 before I get it in hand. And sadly living in BFE (or Tinytown USA) I'm 60mi away from the closest Walmart, and 190mi away from the nearest Gamestop...

7 days to cancel purchase for non-faulty goods
In the EU, you have the right to cancel your online purchase within seven working days.

This seven-day “cooling off” period begins on the day when you receive your purchase.

You can choose to cancel your order for any reason within this timeframe – even if you simply changed your mind.

The seller must give you a refund within 30 days. This refund must include any shipping charges you paid when you made your purchase.

This applies whenever you buy goods outside a shop (for example by phone, fax, or mail order, as well as on the internet).

That is a SS he sent me. Straight up purchase money deducted from his account not a validation of funds. Funds Poofed, gone, spent definitely not on hold.

No, most MMOs do not actually, or did not when they still were subscription based games anyway.

Actually yes they did. I have been playing MMOs since 2000

Well, I've been playing MMOs since 1997 (Ultima Online) and most that I've played DO NOT require a payment method to use your 30 days.
