    You are simply wrong, both here and elsewhere.

    The authorization is not always short, my service -- that I paid good money for -- was interrupted, AND for a time an *additional* $30 was tied-up -- ($15 of it still is as of now) just to continue to play a game that I paid for with the same valid credit card that I used to buy the game in the first place.

    The same card that, for some reason, didn't work on their highly inflated authorization amount.

    And I don't begrudge Zenimax, but there are so many simple things they could have done and should have done to avoid this problem, not least of which being scheduling this mandatory subscription on a weekday when banks are available for customer service; and being better equipped to handle customer support.

    With the Beta interest -- the immense demand for customer support (be it this or another problem) is no surprise.

    Most seem to agree that the charge amount is not good business and had they put a customary hold, my PayPal would have covered it the first time as Visa and my bank would not have been involved. From past experience, I suspect fraud protection measures have slowed things down.

    Lastly, I have a vested interest in this thread. Why are you still here?

    Why I am still here? I left this thread over 10 hours ago now, I even said I was out, and yet you dig stuff up several pages back. What is your problem? Need for attention? I have stated several times that as it stands, EU users seem to get through the authorization almost instantly, while some US users seem to have an authorization period between 3-5 business days and have never stated that I agree with the use of authorization for the full amount.

    There's no need to try and paraphrase me, only to start an argument. Now let it go, I've contributed with my opinions and views on the matter. Also said the above several times, there's no need for you to try and twist my words another way. There's just no point in arguing. If you're so desperate for attention you should go elsewhere since I'm here for civil discussions on the matter. Clearly you're not.

    That's not true. I purchased my copy of the game from them, and I still had to set up a subscription to get access to the game today.

    I finally got funds in my CC and went to subscribe and they ALREADY had my valid CC info on file from my pre-order and I still had to subscribe by SELECTING it as my payment option before they would let me into the game.

    What he was referring to was that the reason for the sub is to insure you have a valid CC when in fact they ALREADY have that info for those that ordered online with them.

    So the reason for the sub is bunk!

    Noone said it would come off in a few hours. It could take a few hours to a few days it depends on your bank. Fact is the money is still there.

    This, my money returned in like half an hour.

    if not there is a short explanation
    they dont let people to play their 30 days of game time which came with their purchase, without making a subscription plan.
    and their reason is " they will check validity of credit card"
    checking the credit cart validity is your legal right but that is second step.
    first step is, i didnt decice yet i wanna play that game after 1 month or not.you have to let me decide by giving my 30 days of game time then if i like that game, i can make a subscription plan/ i can buy phisicly game time/ i can use paypal etc etc and that is my decision and THAT IS MY LEGAL RIGHT.
    i dont like that type policy/forcing/demande and par principe i dont want to play that game anymore with this behaviour.
    i want my money back.
    i bought digital imperial edition of eso on 15,03,2014 and i want my money back please.

    Guys, really... how much Gold-Spamming have you seen since the early access ended? When I was in early access and saw the spaming I thought "What the hell, already?" Now that I don't see it anymore, I think it's because there aren't many Gold-Spammers that actualy want to give sensitive information about themselves (or pay extra) just in order to get banned anyway. In other words, I belief the gold spamming during the early acces was BECAUSE no one had to give sensetive information.
    If you just needed a valid copy of the game and an Account there would be much more gold sell spamming.
    Of course they should have clearly said so before, and statet before that in case you can't pay, or don't have one of the not-paying methods (like paypal, at least there you wont be charged a cent - I wasn't at least) that you could directly contact them.
    So, who but one who wants to play in earnest would go through all that trouble?
    Be it paying for extra playtime, givin sensitive information, or contacting the support. Who? Tell me? One who just wants to buy a game, use the 30 days of free acces to sell enough Gold before he gets banned? I think not.
    If you just buy the game anonymously, create an account anonymously, you can get banned but have nothing to fear.
    If you have to pay extra, it's probably not worth it.
    If you have to give sensitive information, they, by extension, know who you are, and thus can sue you.

    They don't have it for the people buying physical copies though, but these should be easy to seperate from the rest in that case.

    3 days later charge still showing on my account. This situation is absolutely poor. I like the game quite a bit but will not be continuing after the 30 days because of this issue. No matter how you try to defend it its not right to put other people money in limbo. Sure its the bank's holding the money but ESO should of thought the pre authorization of the whole amount through. Its a shame when I do log in and play I have a blast but this has me so disappointed that its becoming hard for me to want to even log in anymore.

    I bought a physical copy. I live in New Zealand and I am being required to pay euros10.99 per month. This is around NZ$20.

    Apparently I can obtain a prepaid card which costs NZ$33 for two months.

    So use a credit card and pay NZ$40 for two months or NZ$33 for a prepaid card.

    Why would I want to use a credit card?

    On the other hand if you want to do the prepaid card route then you are being penalised and disadvantaged from the start.

    So in either case this is mess...

    It's on your account page; it seems your beta code is converted to the live code if you were in beta then pre-ordered.
    I pre ordered and was in beta my code has not changed.

    I think there is some misunderstanding of what happend. Just look.
    Some people made a preorder, and it was stated that preoreder has a free 30 days "included". And now they (we) were forced to pay. Who are these people? I tell you. This is the most devoted part of the community. Charmed by the game. And what do we get? Spit in our face.
    When I log into the game what kind of messages do I see in a chat first?
    "Is quest_name still bugged?" - "Yes."
    Released a bugged game? Somehow acceptable. But very unpleasant.

    And now Zenimax is doing a really stupid thing. They made us to pay for a game we have already purchased.
    Why $1 is not enough for them? Why they need to cahrge a full price? Why on earth you need to check anything if I pay with the same Visa card I used when I made my preorder?
    And I didn't get my money back yet. And if somethenig happens I'm more than sure that Zenimax's so-called "customer service" will just blame the bank.

    That's what I think will somehow save Zenimax reputation in this situation:
    1. An official apology to the community.
    2. A penalty for billing development team.
    But I doubt anything of this will ever happen.

    I'd like my 80 bucks back. It's been 4 days. This is a lot of money to "resreve" for your verification. I have a whopping 5 dollars left in my account and I need money for gas, and seeing as how I drive 60 miles to and from work everyday 5 bucks won't get me very far. I don't get paid until the end of next week. But hey, at least I'll be able to sit at home and play TESO since I can't get to work!
    On a more serious note, this isn't going to break my loyalty to this game but it's put me pretty close to the edge. Considering your average gamer doesn't make a lot of money and has little disposable income this move is pretty unacceptable and probably hurt a lot of people. I can only imagine how much money the banks have made on overdraft charges for the many people uunexpecting to be temporarily charged for their subscription.

    That is nothing i just looked at my back and they had put the 3 month amount back and now on the 7th it shows another 41dollars out of my account and they cancelled my subscription saturday to have the funds put back so now they are tryin to take funds from my bank as i no longer have a subscription

    I don't get payed for another week and had preordered a digital copy with my CC a week ago that was supposed to come with 30 days. I just want to know if a) there is a work around or if your false advertising b) will the week I don't have the money for your authorization count against my 30 days of game time c) why the he'll didn't you authorize my card when I payed for the game with it and d) if you screw me again can I have a refund or do I need to contact a lawyer?

    You all tried doing this over the weekend. You should have just waited. Banks are a business and so is Zenimax. It said the temp charge for authorization might not clear until after the weekend because banks aren't open on Sundays and for 4 hours on Saturdays.

    I waited until today (a weekday), entered my codes, selected my subscription and done. My account says it is active with a reoccurring payments of $14.99/month after my 30 days of game time expire.

    Yes, when you selected your subscription it says you got charged (FOR THE CHECK ON YOUR ACCOUNT) and that you had 29 days remaining. It also stated that your 30 days of included game time (with purchase of game) will begin immediately following the choosing of a subscription. This is not the game time you just purchased. That 29 days left is your included game time counting down. If you didn't want it to start yet... you shouldn't have redeemed your codes and chosen a subscription.

    I just checked my paypal about an hour after I chose my sub. It already says the payment was canceled by the seller: Zenimax. See how fast things work on the weekday. Proof:

Zenimax didn't have to place a temp charge of the full amount. My post is more aimed at the complainers, haters and cry babies that didn't pay attention to all the warnings and information Zenimax laid right in front of their faces.

    To Zenimax and Forum Mods: You're doing a great job keeping your cool. Thank you for all the information and a great launch that didn't result in crashing and server patches that could last for days.

    Srsly why would someone preorder the game just to come here and complain about it. I think some ppl just refuse to understand the situation. There are many ppl without CC, paypal accounts and those ppl paid cash on retail edition boxes or used other kind of payment methods and using those methods makes you charged instantly and not temporary.
