It's because you had beta access and used an early access code. So your account works BUT (serious but) --
What's a load of total BS is:
Because I had access to the beta, my account works in game and I have some imperial edition perks, but in order to put in the required code for the rest of them and the explorer pack, it's trying to force me to put in a credit card, saying it will charge the amount but I'll get it back if I cancel before the recurrence date...
This is such a blatant cash grab it's not funny. Now I'm seriously thinking about doing a charge back because I've lost what little faith I had in this game. Holding my purchased benefits ransom for a *** credit card...
It is a gamebreaker article about this..jaschacasadiob16_ESO wrote: »Well the Community Rules do not forbid it, as long as you dont post malicious links

It seems to be something everyone has overlooked, and I'm hoping it might help.
When you enter the game code you get 30 days free play time.
Thing is that the day you enter the game code is day 1, which means you already started using the 30 days gametime.
Its subtracting that day as day 1 of the 30 days, saying that you have day 1 plus 29 more days left so that when you come to day 30 it should say 0 days left.
The counter starts when you enter the game code, not when you install the game, as it is then assumed that you have the game installed and start playing at that time.
Regardless of whether you bought a physical or digital edition you do have the chance to install the game client before you enter he game code, as you either download it or install from a disc.
Its just a thought for those who seem to have concerns/complaints regarding this, which seems to have been overlooked.
If I overlooked/missed something the by all means tell me what that is, as I just want to help.
We want all of you to know that everyone who was part of Early Access will be granted an extended grace period until Sunday at 8AM EDT/12PM (noon) GMT before being required to transition your account to live. This will cover those who purchased ESO from an online retailer and won't be getting your box shipped in time and also gives anyone in Early Access who purchased digitally more Early Access time.
Even on Zenimax server announcement with their cryptic message about Early access being extended until Sunday before the need to transfer to live, there's no apology and the message doesn't make any sense.
First we don't get extended early access at all as the game goes live in a few hours hence when we log on we are no longer playing earlier than anyone else..
Second, the way it's worded looks like there's a process we have to do to transfer to a live account and we don't now have to do this until Sunday. But its worded in such a way that it looks like we now have the choice to wait until Sunday, not that it's automatic. If that is the case, loads of people wont realise and will do whatever is required as soon as they log on to switch to their live accounts.
Or are they simply saying that the 30 included playtime wont now start until Sunday. I presume and hope it's this, else there will be a LOT of confused and angry people.

The Better Business Bureau can help with complaints about goods or services that you've bought from a trader based in the United States. You can also report a US trader to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The FTC may take action against the trader, but it won't sort out your individual complaint.
Yeah and ToS says you can only change the sub model with 30 days of prior, than you are forced to choose recurring model at the moment you redeem the key. As a result you won't be able to change the model for the next month and you will be charged of an additional fee at the end of the 30 days even if you didn't want it.forgot2shave wrote: »*snip* What I see on my end is a charge for 14.99 go through and 29 days left of game time. It isn't hard to understand. Your 30 days game time starts "counting down" when you apply it - it's only 30 days game time for a second, then it's 29 days, 23 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds - but all you see is "29 days" because the programmers don't show you the full time field.
It's simple, really, and a common feature of most billing systems. I can't think of any billing system I've used in 25 years that isn't coded exactly the same way regarding dates.

The company also has to be given a chance to put things right.
It is against EU law to temporarily take charges without informing us of it in the first place, and the zenimax post at the beginning of this thread is not good enough, when it says 0.00 when you sign up, it needs to be there. But again providing no one is left out of pocket should they receive bank charges, and the company fixes it, no action would be taken against them.

[Update]
We want everyone who purchased ESO to have immediate access to the included 30 days of ESO game time. In the event that you enter your payment information for authorization and the transaction cancels due to lack of funds in your account, please contact our Support Team. We’ll work with you to ensure you have access to your included 30 days of game time.
Please ensure that you have attempted to enter payment information and had the transaction fail due to lack of funds before submitting a help request. We will get you into the game and playing as soon as possible.
We require you to choose a subscription option and enter valid payment information. For credit cards, debit cards and PayPal there is no charge made until after your included 30 days of game time has expired. For these payment methods, there is an authorization check performed to ensure the payment method is valid. You may see a temporary account authorization hold put on funds in your account while the verification completes. Usually this authorization hold lasts a short period of time before being removed. It can vary from bank to bank.
If you prefer to use one of the following payment methods, payment is processed at the time of selecting your preferred subscription plan.
- Game Time Cards [via Retailer]
- GiroPay
- iDeal
- Paysafe Card
- WebMoney

Greetings dysphorya,
Thank you for contacting the Elder Scrolls Online team. If you are unable to enter the codes that came with your retail copy make sure you have setup the billing & subscription method first. After this has been done you will be able to redeem your codes.
Thank you for your continued interest and support!
Warm Regards,

I received my physical copy of the Standard Edition today, and I am attempting to redeem my Explorer's Pack Code from the package. When I enter it into my account through the "Redeem Code" function, I get an error that the code "Requires Elder Scrolls Online." I already have ESO installed -- I updated my beta install and have been playing all throughout early access after redeeming my Early Access Code. Am I doing something wrong?
Here's a (possibly) different shade of problems around this billing issue. First, here's my communication with Zenimax support:Response By Email (Albert) (04/04/2014 11:43 PM)

I don't want my credit card information stored on Zenimax servers. I want to use a Gametime Card instead. So far, I've not been able to track down a Gametime Card (I'm making a wider sweep to other GameStops and BestBuys today). Since I can't get my Explorer's Pack code entered until the billing information is supplied, I'm now (possibly) at risk of losing my preorder bonuses.
I've been trying to read through all the posts to see whether having a physical preorder with its printed codes is enough to ensure the preorder bonuses will still be redeemable once I get my Gametime Card entered (since these were preorder codes already purchased and in my possession), but it isn't clear to me. Are the preorder codes only valid for entry during the grace period? My sincerest sympathies for everybody who still hasn't gotten their physical preorders -- they're in an even worse position.
The root of the billing part of this issue is this: since they require billing information at the start of 30 days of free game time, anyone wanting to use a Gametime Card IS feeling a sub-related, lighter wallet at the start. Even though Zenimax doesn't take my Gametime Card $30 until after my thirty days are up, I still have to cough up the $30 thirty days early. It might not be a hardship for some of us, but it's still misleading and an irritating additional expense on top of the preorder cost.
guess i'll see if they will let me in on monday lost all desire to play this weekend, if not, the joke's on me for buying imperial version and only playing a few early access days.
I will not lend them 15 dollars for x amount of time to get my free days,
