My thoughts:
1. They messed up. How on earth they didn't foresee a backlash from this decision is beyond me. So they're either incompetent or jeez I don't even know.
2. Why on earth do we have to have money in our account? We paid the box price which was said to come with 30 days free. We have zero zip nada obligations to pay them more money.
3. If you don't have more than 14.99 in your bank account (for whatever reason)(I literally mean for whatever reason) then you should put down this freaking video game and get your *** together.
WOW! is all I can say to #3. I am disabled and on a fixed income. I only get enough money to cover bills and cover 1 game, my only entertainment expense. I cancelled my LOTRO sub for this game (something I regret now). I don't have cable or any extras like that because disability benefits are next to nill. You are saying I should just give up my one and only "extra" thing because Zenimax is doing something morally and legally wrong? They lied to people. They said they would not charge, but they do and have. You are saying that as a disabled, nearly bed ridden person, who only has 1 game to entertain them, doesn't have their "*** together" and should just sit here with nothing to do? Way to go on not understanding how life works in any way, shape, or form, and on putting down large sectors of the community.
I apologize. You are most certainly an exception to the rule. However #3 still stands. For the others not in such a rocky boat that you're in. If they have time to spend on a video game but don't have 15 bucks in their account then theres a serious issue there.
I wouldn't have apologized. It sounds like a whole lot of sensationalism. I mean first off, you get enough to cover 1 game as your entertainment activity? But how are you paying for the Internet access required to play the game? Is that one of the "bills" you have each month? What other non-essentials do you have in your "bills" group that you're hiding to make your point more poignant?
I mean yes, what they did with the charge seems different than other games have done in the past. I don't remember seeing more than a $1 dollar hold check. Or I don't remember an actual amount being taken from my available funds when a hold check was performed, except at higher amounts when doing airline reservations, hotel reservations, etc.
But using your story to make a point seems pretty crass when you look at everything you have in your "bills" section.
Ah stating my opinion is attacking now? You'd make a good politician. Also... If I was low income my priority would be eduction, better work, more work, or a combination. Not a video game to escape from the reality I let myself wallow in.StevieKingslayer wrote: »My thoughts:

So my *** isn't together simply because I only get paid once a month? Jesus Christ...
I don't care if you only get paid once a year. If you don't have 15 bucks in your bank account you've got bigger problems to handle than some video game. Jesus Christ...

Heck, you could even say it didn't really bother me about the down times. Though, the charge is alittle annoying. I was sure I read everything to determine whether they'd charge immediately.
It will be given back, but they have just gone about it in a very dirty way. For some it goes back instantly, for others they get an overdraft fee and it isnt returned yet. It's different depending on your bank/payment system.

Ah ok. I was actually starting to feel confused. They weren't going to charge, they did charge, it'll be given back... lol. But thank you I didn't know that. It is lame for the folks who got charged extra by their banks. And yes, I don't think they should've put a hold of the whole amount on the account. How about none? Or just a buck like gas stations if you must know the account is real? Haha.

In my country people on disability payments must have access to the internet to talk to their case managers via email, as well as a phone line. Mayhaps they must have to also?

So you're saying since he planned to have x amount of dollars and spend x amount of dollars so well that he has less than 15 bucks thats ok???Have you ever heared about planning expenses? For the most part I agree with you. But if you have a kid. You should probably have more than 15 bucks in your bank account. I heard they can be expensive. Just saying...
Maybe he is taking the money for his childrens separated from the hobbies destinated money?
"Oh no my car broke down! Damn I didn't plan for the unexpected expense! If only I didn't worry about video games and instead worked until I had this thing called disposable income I wouldn't be such a carless loser!"

It certainly reads that way. You seem to be the one telling people how they should be spending their money so maybe it is you who should be a politician.
I guess you just like to say things that are controversial.

it was meant as a current thing, as, they have lost potential subscribers, and will continue to.

She. And I don't need to worry about my car breaking down, I am a qualified Mechanic - I can fix it. I also have enough spare's lying around before you jump on that gun.
Food and stuff is not expensive in my country, so I don't need to worry about having spare over, because I did plan. Whatever I have left over is for entertainment. I pre ordered early with no mention of this stuff - this is where my annoyance comes from. If you have nothing more to add that is of a useful note, please feel free to go explore the in game world.
Now you can't play.I just bought this game with the last of the money I had on my card. So what now?

She. He. It. Whatever. You're a person your sex has nothing to do with anything. I said it once. I'll say it again. If you have less than 15 dollars in your account I would strongly recommend you worry less about video games and more about your real life situation.
Hopefully, I guess. I wonde however, does this now mean they actually CHARGE your account, check wether or not there would be enough money, or, even, only check wether or not the account exists? In case of the latter I could go an activate it. Else I wont be able to play for the next one or two months, lol. Gotta pay back some money, and don't get much to begin with.
Regards
Falconid
