Continuation of Patcher Reinstall Issues

Maintenance for the week of March 17:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – March 17

    Just a quick update: we are still working on this and hope to have a solution for you soon. Thanks so much for hanging in there while we figure this out.

    Did you guys see the workarounds we supplied earlier? While those that lost their files are lost indeed, the others at least can fix their game with those three *.version files.

    The Launcher does wipe these three files for some reason, that's why the install and repair procedure starts.

    So...you have a solution? So do the rest of us with the 3 files fix. Is it this same one? You called ZOS and tried to sell it to them when the solution is on their own forums. They turned you down and wouldn't pay you for free information. So you decided to go game with a smug attitude of "I'll let everyone suffer because ZOS won't pay me"?

    Anyway, thanks to all for the solution, it worked for me. Hopefully everyone else saw my very early post about not hitting install and were able to preserve the install and then pop these files back in and all is good. Imagine all the wasted bandwidth over these 3 little files...

    Sorry , i don't have time to read 10 pages. I'm at 43% and speed is 100 kb/s, if continue like this i will play next summer, is there a way to repair even if i'm downloading right now?

    alright so you keep saying add these files i have added them and every time i start my launcher it just deletes them again any suggestions?

    The only fix that I have found to be able to play was to uninstall and reinstall again ... sadly it took so long, but it worked

    if this files copy fix isn't working you only have 2 options

    1. Wait for Zenimax to give you a fix and god knows when this will be.
    2. Uninstall and remove all of ESO from the system then do a fresh install of the launcher and re-download the entire 28-30GB.

    Thanks for the link to those 3 files it worked for me but it's kinda sad that nothing official has been said regarding a fix not even a uh yeah kid try those files as a workaround.

    I can confirm that this solved my launcher problem. I had the game installed on another computer, and just copied the files across, and voila!

    Just wanted to add to the chorus. Those 3 files fixed it for me too. Hopefully it can get past the next patch without issue. Would still like a confirmation from the devs.

    Seems to be the different issue I actually made a post with the current fix with the replacement files so people don't have to look at 10 pages to try and locate a fix for the INSTALL launcher bug.

    that link has the details in what to do and if that fails it also lists the last 2 options that you may have.

    in the US file set it put a readme.txt and it shows where they are in my setup so i guess you can look at where your install is for the same type of info :)

    There was an update to the launcher when I started it just now, maybe that was the fix you guys need

    Hopefully it is but it would be nice if some of the support crew would be more useful with information and keeping a nice bit of communication going.

    I still have the same issue after the launcher update. I've tried just about everything i know to fix this. I'm fine running the eso.exe, but the next patch that roles out is going to be the end of my game time. Has there been any progress on a global fix for this re-patch problem?

    Yea same problem here was not the fix we were hoping oh well i am sure they will fix it in due time. Just wish it was not eating up my data usage like it did before i caught it. Strefilb you getting sound while using the eso.exe? Because i am not geting any thing sound wise past the opening video

    I can run the game fine from eso.exe, but have not been able to get the launcher working by any means here. When I copy the 3 version files in, it does bring up a Repair button rather than Install. But when I click Repair, it says it's unable to determine the current version, run the Game Consultant Tool and submit it to customer support.

    Don't know if this is new with the update to the launcher -- if so, the updated launcher may have broken the fix? But that's just speculation at this point. Bottom line is, I still need an official fix from Zenimax. Keep working on it guys and gals!

    HELP please, I am in the same boat. I have been trying everything since the 5 day early release to no avail. I have even uninstalled and reinstalled, but used the launcher and I guess it immediately deleted those files mentioned above. There is just no way I can use up more data to download again. How do I use those files listed above, every time I click on them they open up a blank web page. What am I doing wrong? Thank you

    Luckily for me, this happened on my laptop, which I only use to play on my lunch break at work. I'm still able to play on my main gaming PC which didn't have this problem.

    So that means I'll have plenty of time to just uninstall on my laptop and re-install.

    But this should not have happened. Its an epic mess up to be honest and I can't imagine how frustrated the people who are unable to play have been.

    Downloading the closed beta did this for me when I got accepted. I downloaded the huge amount of data and then it gave some error, deleted the files, and thought I would be okay with having to redownload... I wasn't okay and never played the game. Fast forward to just before launch. I want to play so I buy the game. Two days after starting the download, anywhere from 50kb/s to 150kb/s I still have 4.5 gigs left to download. This will take almost a full 3 days to download. If it does the same thing again, I will be pretty upset as anyone could imagine but I'll still try to continue on and try to get in when I can. My internet connection should be downloading at least 300k - 500k a second so what the heck? Anyway, I feel the pain.

    Sweet...I tried the fix on page 7 as well and it worked...thank you so much to both Aldarund for the original work around and Paunamu for adding the NA file versions! you guys ROCK! Zenimax, you ought to give those two some free game time :)

    I was unaware of this newer solution. I went and tried the old one - "cancelling the download then hitting repair". That ended up wiping all of my files. So now I do have to redownload the game. I don't have the fastest internet, so hopefully it's done by noon if I start it now...

    And I just bought a six month subscription.
