CRITICAL BUG: booted to lobby and player and map rolled back in cyrodiil

Logged on this morning and this was happening. I had no idea since I didn't play yesterday. Not much communication until I got in a group and they said it's happening all morning.

It is frustrating to continue to feel like pvpers are the unwanted step children of ESO.

We do spend a ton of money (at least a lot of us do). Cyrodiil is pretty repetitive so we like to look fancy on our flashy mounts, and then look fancy jogging across the map because we are stuck in combat once we unmount 🥲

THIS is why people are screaming. Unless you're on the forums or happen to read zone chat (a lot of people have zone chat turned off) you would totally think the issue with cyro is on your side.

They need to communicate this - don't give me this we didn't want to communicate it because people would exploit the duplication glitch. The small handful of people who would shouldn't outweigh the overall playervbases communication.

Hi all, providing a brief update here. As noted before, the team is aware of this issue and is working to resolve this. The team is still investigating and testing a possible fix. Once we can verify that the fix works and is safe to deploy, we will follow up. We know this is an inconvenience and we appreciate your patience as we work through this.

We have added this to the Dev Tracker for visibility.

This is what happened to me...i thought its me, then noticed whole AD is standing in the base. Paying attention to the zone chat and noticed the rage...then asked an EP friend and he confirmed it was everybody.
Searched the forum and found this.

The best part is there isn't an update at all today, just deal with it, we do not care.

There will be an update right before they leave the office for the day.

As a paying customer (ESO Plus) I'm very dissatisfied that the PVP Cyro zone wasn't brought down as soon as ESO became aware of the magnitude of the bugs in Cyro (probably from a single cause in the recent update).

If this were a banking system and transactions were being lost or servers were frequently re-booting, the developer would surely bring the system down until the cause was determined and fixed. I guess that's the difference between professional support and an attitude of it's just an "inconvenience."

Most of us don't mind waiting if you share potential timelines and manage our expectations.
    • "We believe that the team will have a fix on Wednesday. It'll be tested overnight on the closed PTS, and if all looks good we'll do an emergency deployment mid-morning."
    • "The fix is taking longer than we expected, as there are many dependencies and re-used code that we're taking the opportunity to fix at the same time. We hope to have Cyrodiil fully functional by Friday afternoon so everyone who wants to PvP through the weekend won't have their fun ruined."
    • "I'm sorry to report that it looks like Cyrodiil will only be fixed in an incremental patch on Monday. We understand that this will upset many of you, so we will be doubling AP for the rest of the anniversary event after Monday's patch."

These are all good answers. Not the ones we may want, but you are failing (severely) to manage the players' expectations. All we want is better communication and some transparency on activities and timelines.

Only it is not just an inconvenience. This is halting and changing the rules and outcomes of a competitive part of your product and service for your customers. It's game breaking.

Not being able to buy Crowns or making purchases in the Crown Store is an inconvenience, not affecting the product or service in any manner, yet after a post about a Crowns/Crown Store problem it takes 10 minutes for a ZOS representative to respond and start searching to fix it, while this possibly is an inconvenience to you rather than an urgent emergency.

At least you show some level of decent attention to your customers that are currently about to place orders and purchases even if you show little regards to the ones that have already done so.

Personally, I enjoyed Tarnished. Tweak it slightly to get rid of the one shot massive dmg burst crap but other than that it is a good and effective set.

It's happening in Blackreach campaign every 15 minutes, just about exactly. You lose any food buff you have, as well as any seige or food you buy from Alliance Merchants. It's also taking away all AP you earn. You're literally wasting time even trying to play, unless you log out every 15 minutes, before it crashes and rolls back. But even then, the map doesn't change.

This is not a small one time "inconvenience" Kevin. Stuff like this happens all the time and it's a disgrace how this company chooses to deal with it. Hiring one guy who repeats "nothing to see here, everything is fine" all the time is not enough.

I have been feeling betrayed and deceived by this company every single day for years now. Empty phrases about "being aware" of a problem and never really dealing with it is not enough. It's insulting. You have paying customers, please act like it.

Maybe it would be best to sell Cyrodiil and PvP and the whole endgame to some company that actually wants to make it work. I didn't want to buy a single player event farming simulator with it's own online casino years ago, i bought an MMORPG with massive PvP battles, as advertized. And i put a lot of time and work into getting my chars ready. (Yes work, i don't consider farming sets entertaining.) On multiple accounts and servers, because nobody knows which server is going to break next. I am still waiting for the game to get out of the test phase and into a playable state. Not just for a couple of weeks every couple of years. But i guess it's a totally different game now, and i honestly have no idea why i still TRY to play it every year and still hope for the Heinzelmännchen to fix it.

Sorry if someone already mentioned this but didn't wanna read all 6 pages. When it happened this evening it also deleted all my keybinds and reset them to defaults. I honestly could live with the AP rollback etc. since I just wanna play to PvP. But erasing my keybinds every 15 mins is pretty non-negotiable. Also in b4 they say this will get fixed next monday lmfao

The fact players are losing currency and items because of the resets, and ZOS has barely acknowledged the problem is shocking. This is not a simple inconvenience! Not looking forward to this dropping on console tomorrow... thanks for yet another broken patch.

Edited to add: sorry, @ZOS_Kevin, I thank you for the updates. I'm frustrated the team gave you no further info about the console patch and whether we will also be experiencing this mess. Will players be reimbursed for lost items/currency? At this point, it's safe to assume that console players should avoid Cyrodiil after the patch.

I really hope you all will do a post-mortem after this "incident" and put something out there on the forums for the community to explain what happened, how it happened, what changes will be made moving forward to prevent something like this taking place again, and how the communication (lack there of IMO) with the community was decided.

If you're truly hoping to improve on your communication and be more transparent this would be a great first step in that general direction.

I would also really appreciate this. Morale in the open world PVP playerbase is bad, and that's worsened by a strong awareness that we're a small minority of the overall players. There's great fear about whether PVP will ever really see much more investment than we see at present. The recent server upgrades last year were very welcome, and a significant investment. It is appreciated, it continues to make a difference.

Communication is minimal about PVP, and I have personally come to assume "no news is bad news". More frank, more regular communication would go a long way to growing a sense of trust and understanding. The lack of communication can be very sensible and prudent. Gaming communities be very unreasonable, and very inappropriate. Communications are fraught with risk. However, I fear the lack of communication about PVP and its future has fueled animosity more than anything else. Some really frank talk about whether PVP has a vibrant future in ESO would be very welcome, and that could start with a break down of just what developers had to deal with in this situation. I hope this comment is taken in the constructive light it is intended. Thanks.

There was a small rollback in Reaper's March about an hour ago @ZOS_Kevin, other players were commenting about it in the zone chat as well, it booted players to the character screen and then around 2-3 minutes worth of progress was lost, but I thought I'd mention it here because with the event happening right now and people farming for the drops, it would be an issue if roll backs started happening in overland zones too.

I would advise you all to log out if you loot something incredible from the boxes or just in general. Logging out seems to lock it in for you. A guy found a recipe in cyro, but then lost it on the rollback. Zos gave it back, but he had to send in a ticket. So when I get something neat from a box, I log out for a bit.
