The queuing is UNACCEPTABLE

Since there were no official answer here, I decided to open a ticket to the support after being unable to connect 2 evenings in a raw (> 1h queue, ending in an error). I wonder if many had done the same and if it impact the developers dashboards.
And for once the answer was surprisingly fast !

So in short this is a normal behavior "due to a large influx of new players".
Good news it is possible to request priority queuing by actively submitting in-game feedback to the developper team (paying has nothing to do here). But yes that suppose you've already got out of the never-ending queue...

So my only conclusion here, is that yes TESO is still in a beta stage and there is no reason to keep paying for it until a hypothetic final release.

I think my favorite part of all this drama is the little note at the top of the forums:
× Maintenance for the week of July 31:
    • PC/Mac: No maintenance – July 31

With the lack of any official communication all weekend, that little note is like a happy little "Nothing wrong, nothing to see, move along" for everyone.

Oh well. This too shall pass, my ESO+ will save me!

I guess this queue event is just a thing to prepare all those newcomers to real ESO life.

    *looming drum beat*
Did you come to Tamriel with soft white armor and huge expectations?
Did you plan running around heroically with your sword or staff for hours?
Did you see your future as a saviour of Tamriel lands and a slayer of malicious daedra?
Too many game trailers you saw, my young Padawan.
Spend your time meditating in this queue, young blood. It will strenghten your will and keyboard before real trials.
No Cyrodiil loading screen, no LFG-queue for DD, no reckless ready-check Undaunted fest could break you after that.
We're living here this way. Be ready. Your struggle is just beginning.
    *epic brass music fades*

A very high proportion. This last week myself and a few friends have moved over from STO to ESO. Whilst I've been playing since closed beta most of the new guys are virgin ESO, some never having played any of the previous games (Skyrim, Morrowing, Oblivion etc). What I noticed is that without ongoing help on our Discord chat they are really struggling to make sense of everything, now after a few days they are getting the lay of the land and starting to really enjoy it, but if I and one other were not there to guide them I'm certain some if not all would have given up by now.

That's just how people are these days. There's 100 options to choose from and if one game gives them even the slightest inconvenience or requires them to use their brain in any capacity, they just move on to the next big flashy thing until they get bored of that too. I've had several friends like this and after a while I just dropped them. Luckily, your friends were save-able and you rescued them before it was too late

This game is easy peasy. There's a slight curve to learn once you hit the champion system for the first time but that's all. There's tons of information to look up (once again, minimal brain usage but many people won't even do this) including guides and wikis detailing quests/builds/crafting.

But why read when you can play big boom boom game and get a huge neon sign in front of your face saying how awesome you are?

Over 2 hours! And still no official apology and relevant information from ZOS? Why am I paying for ESO+ if I cannot use the game? [snip]

Me and some of my guildies are so glad to have GW2 - such a nice alternative to the "queuing game".

I hope we will all get a refund and 3 event tickets for each day when any of us, subscribers, tries to log in and gets a queue, thanks

My comment was snipped due to "Trolling/Bashing/Conspiracy Theories" and I don't want the rest of it to stay here anymore but apparently can't delete either. So here's the lyrics of the bard song, Red Diamond:
When Akatosh slew Lorkhan, He ripped his heart right out,
He Hurled it across Tamriel, And the heart was heard to Shout:

    Red Diamond! Red Diamond!
The heart and soul of Men.
    Red Diamond! Red Diamond!
    Protect us till the end.

The laughing hearts sprayed blood afar, A gout on Cyrod fell,
And like a dart shot to its mark, Down in an Ayleid Well.
Magicka fused the Lorkhan Blood To crystal red and strong
Then Wild Elves cut and polished it down To Chim-el Adabal.

    Red Diamond! Red Diamond!
The heart and soul of Men.
    Red Diamond! Red Diamond!
    Protect us till the end.

When Elves lost Nirn to Men, Akatosh gave the stone
To Saint Alesh in token of Her right to sit the throne.

    Red Diamond! Red Diamond!
The heart and soul of Men.
    Red Diamond! Red Diamond!
    Protect us till the end.

I really like eso and their forums too.

The eso forum moderators here did nothing wrong.

I have played both ESO and GW2 since they came out. Never experienced ANY problems in GW2 that we regularly must suffer in ESO. The company and the whole game design of GW2 are just so much fairer / nicer.

Thanks for your recommendations. Played FFXIV, LoL, and Genshin Impact. FFXIV was nice but too slow/tab-target-point-and-clicky for me after ESO & GW2. LoL was too grindy and even more toxic than ESO. Genshin Impact seemed too grindy & gacha. Played other Blizzard games but uninstalled everything and will not touch D4 because of the developer's unethical behaviour (including Diablo Immoral). Played tons of others, haven't played ToF and NC, will take a look, thanks.

If it was a server issue that was fixed, a ZOS Dev will probably not say anything since it was fixed
If it was an attack on the servers or a DDOS a Dev is not allowed to say anything because it gives people ideas
If it happens again a Dev has a higher chance of saying something cause eventually they have to

So more then likely the only response were gonna get in this thread is from the only people at ZOS that actually watch the forums, and thats the mods cleaning it up.

I do not want to be mean, but the only reason any of that happened, is because you and the team were completely silent for the entire weekend when it came to this issue. This is a matter of mutual respect. 99 percent of the time the forums are mostly civil, but in this case, we lost an entire weekend with 0 word about what is going on. Not everyone has the time to wait 96 hours for a response. Our personal time is valuable too.

They are not censoring people. They are taking down posts that are in violation of the code of conduct to keep everyone safe and the forums civil.

It's not the elderscrolls forum moderators job to make public announcements about the log in issues.

That's up to a totally different team to decide if a written announcement on the issue for this is ok or not. They also got another team working hard on fixing the problem and it's ok for it to take time.

It's purely subjective of course, but I have always taken the view that if a game is worth playing then it's worth paying for, and conversely if it's not worth my money then why on Earth would I consider it worth my time?

I still cannot believe that so many people whined about a queue and were threatening to cancel membership/refund/never play again. I've played a lot games where I had to wait 30ish minutes to get in, you know what I did? Folded laundry, cleaning dishes, take out trash. If I still have a queue, I watch youtube videos

ZOS didn't need to address anything, because they just assumed everyone had enough intelligence to understand that between event, free eso+ and epic games that there would be quite a bit of bottleneck. They severely underestimated the entitlement and lack of maturity of their playerbase lol

But it wasn't the free trial or the free game from Epic, it was a backend system problem left untended or repaired.

    Really weird take.

Not only it is factually wrong, as it was actually a back-end system failure, even ZoS has apologised for taking too long to sort it out and communicate with the player base.

"Players" or "gamers" are actually paying customers. If this was any other walk of life, the demand for appropriate service wouldn't be in question.

Can you imagine booking and paying for a hotel room only to find the roof leaked. I'm not sure anyone would be OK with the hotel manager saying "hey, can't fix it today - can't even talk to you about it - please go watch YouTube videos or fold your laundry". No, me neither.
