New Class is a lot of work for the entirety of the games life

unlikely overland is just to hard to solve

new weapons would lag the game

    spell crafting ditto

Most likely this. Spellcrafting has been the longest term "most requested feature" pretty much since beta, while overland difficulty has been the one to hold the title most recently

Probably Spellcrafting for Q2 and vet overland for Q4. Would certainly fit into their plan to make use of older zones for new systems, and keep people engaged for a while.

There are many useful, meaningful features that came up as wishes here at the forum regularly over all the years (new race, new class, vet overland, dungeon and trial story mode, a new pvp fight system, spellcrafting,...), and what did they announce to us last January in the announcement stream for High Isle, claiming it was the big thing everyone wished for for long? A card game. I had barely seen anyone mentioning a card game here. So who knows what it is this time?! After design choices that seem incomprehensible to me, completely lore-breaking dialogue (yes, I'm still dwelling on the player character congratulating Naryu for saving the Tribunal), crownstore mounts that look flashier and kitschier with each new release (and that sometimes no one seems to be using, or how many people riding the 2-rider-horse have you seen until now?), the quests and stories this year being mostly meh, character portrayals often one-dimensional and dialogue dumbed down even more, I'm extremely sceptical. So what could we get next year? Back to the roots - a complex story, nuanced characters, intelligent dialogues and a new class? Or will it be, conflated with the Dibella theme of next year's event rewards, some cheap romance story, even more shallow "flirty" dialogue, cliché characters, and as the big awful cherry on top, "romance" with said cliché characters and shallow "flirty" dialogue? I hope for the former and fear for the latter. Well, hope dies last.

Its most likely going to be a major change in the Auction House system. Eso likes to help the new players out, so my guess is for a major overhaul to the ah.

This is my top contender for ways that ZOS can create a new firestorm in the community. I no longer have an iron in this fire, but the popcorn consumption would be epic.

I think the card game that may have been a requested feature was probably integrating Elder Scrolls Legends into the game, sort of like how integrating Hearthstone is a common request in WoW...And ToT ended up being the compromise.

I would love a new weapon like a magicka tanking staff or skill line, if these count as system/feature

We already have a magicka tanking staff. Ice staff.
Destruction magic isn't tanking magic, and that's what I'm referring to.

The ice staff change from years ago is a sorry excuse for a magicka tanking staff anyway when looking at the potential of taking into account the other types of magic in TES that don't have a staff in ESO yet.

I'm a forum regular for about 5 years now (I might not be writing for a few months sometimes, but I still read), and while I have sometimes seen people mentioning TES Legends, it was only very rarely, and only something among the lines of "Now that it's not developed further as a stand-alone game anymore, why not including it here, so it doesn't die completely". That's something I can understand very well, btw, as I played Legends a lot after it was released and still play it sometimes even now. But this was definitively not a big request that turned up regularly here. There are one or two dozens of other wishes that come up many, many times more often. So it's really strange they presented us ToT then (which isn't even comparable to Legends, btw, and, in contrast to Legends, bores me to death).

I know that I suggested that Legends be integrated into ESO, and I also suggested that ESO needed tavern games where players could play with each other.

ToT fits both of those, but I feel ESO still needs tavern games. More "beer and pretzel" than ToT. Also needs a chat based RNG or dice roll thing. Similar to the "Soul gem/parchment/clippers" but for everyone. Something that isn't Crown Store or Crown Crate.

I'ma throw this out there: not to rain on anyone's parade who wants spell crafting cause yes it would be cool however it's hard enough to balance regular skills and classes. I don't see this happening, I think it might be too easy to exploit and near impossible to balance. I don't know how they would be able to implement it without fully breaking the game. Maybe I'm wrong but based on what I've seen it would be really really hard to do properly. I mean elder scrolls has had spell crafting in earlier titles and it went right to hell. On top of that they also originally said they wanted to capacity for 100+ ppl to participate in a single battle in cyro and look how that turned out...

Not sure what it will be.

    I'm hoping for
    New Class
    New Weapon
    New Race
    Spellcrafting
    QoL improvements for housing

I also do hope they don't forget about our PvP community
    New PvP Mode
    New BG Map,
    New Cyro features.

Vet Overland is ok too, but not on my top priority list.
And so the Elder Scrolls foretold. You will be shy, and I will be bold.

Who knows? Maybe after years of "class balance" they're finally getting rid of all classes and you piece together your own skills. Could explain why they've almost homogenized them.

I'm still at the point where I am unable to speculate what we might actually get as a feature/system, as akin to many others here the words said in the director's letter have no meaning without seeing results, and we know what the track record has been on many issues up until now! We've had great things and less than great things, so all the words in the world mean less than nothing!

I also think that dangling this letter and letting the hype go wild (which they tend to do all the time) is of detrement to the game as a whole. So many of us play this game that has such a variety of activities within it, playing it in so many ways, and there is no way everyone can be satisfied with one new feature in summer and one new system in the late year and be satiated :P Whatever they choose to add (and many ideas earlier in this thread seemed more like QOL updates and not systems to add value to gameplay), will cause an even bigger sting if it is not the "thing" that you have spent a month imagining possible in your hopes for the game.

While the PR people of the world might acclaim this time where we are encouraged to speculate on the forums (and hopefully not decry all the shortcomings of the game and it's upkeep for a few weeks), surely the pragmatists will realise there will be a crash to follow all this excitement and speculation. And in January we'll mourn for many of the items wished for, that will not, and possibly cannot ever appear in game!

This so-called most requested feature has me worried. Most requested from whom because unless they sent out emails to their whole player base asking this it's not most requested. It's just another thing added to keep the vocal minority on the forums happy. And if it's any kind of change to make overland harder then ZOS will have a big problem.

Some of the stuff I saw float around in the forums (I don’t agree with all of them but that’s what I saw):

-a new weapon skill line (probably one hand and magic or spear)
    -a new class
    -Fishing improvement/rework
    -A new class skill line
    -Flying
    -Marrying a companion
    -spellcrafting
    -overland veteran
    -a new race

Here's what I remember as "most requested".
    • New Class
    • Trial Finder
    • Story Mode Dungeons
    • Hide Shoulders and/or Crotch Flaps
    • Group Duels

That isn't even close to the "most requested" features... Hide Shoulders and Crotch flaps? Dueling Companions? Like, Pokemon fighting? XD that's sooo niche

    The most requested features:
    • New Class
    • New Skill line
    • PvP update
    • Overland HM

I think the most likely is a New Class. It's the easiest option for them to implement and would placate players.

However, I think the game NEEDS a PvP overhaul update (revamp Cyrodiil which is super stale at this point). A PvP update would also fit well with a "multi-year story arc". remember people, there is a DAMN WAR GOING ON!

A new Skill line would be awesome, but it's not going to happen.

I know that Overland HM is requested all the damn time, but to be honest, it would be very underwhelming. I think Overland HM is one of those things that players ask for, but they don't realize how boring it'll be in the final implementation.

I'd argue that one of the most requested features was to hide more outfit slots than just helms (shoulders etc.). I have made the request myself and added my support to several other posts about this very subject. But I have trouble imagining this being a big enough feature to brag about. It's more like a small QoL thing that should've been done when the outfit station first came out.

I imagine the feature they're talking about is something bigger. But, as someone who has repeatedly asked for hiding more outfit slots, I'm also hoping this one makes it in there too.

No. That is most certainly NOT one of the most requested features. Perhaps it is in very small RP groups. But there's no way its more requested than A New Class or More PvP Content.

I mean, you hit the nail on the head: "I have trouble imagining this being a big enough feature to brag about". This whole thread is full of players just talking about the minor QoL changes THEY want to see. 98% of those changes are so minor or niche that they will never be what Matt Firor was talking about.

And if they are! If they release a "mulit-year story arc" focused on "underwater swimming" or "being able to lay down in beds" or "Hide Shoulders" or any one of the THOUSANDS of QoL features players understandably want, it's gonna be a blood bath.

I generally agree and yes a new class or PvP content is more requested. Not arguing that. Just saying that I've seen the hide feature requested over and over again. It keeps coming up. Hence why I suggested it's an often requested feature, not the most requested, but it feels like it's up there just based on my observation even if it is minor. Could very well be my own bias, though.

I agree but, with an entire quarter dedicated to one system, it would make sense that it would be something big like spell crafting. Hopefully, if they do implement it, it would be spell scrolls with a cooldown that work like potions do…

Advocates of spellcrafting... can you answer this question for me?

Provide 4 unique spells that can be crafted under this new "spellcrafting" system. Keep in mind that a real SpellCrafting system would need like 12 or more MINIMUM to be viable; I want to hear the best 4 at least. Describe how these spells are nothing like anything that already exists in the game (like wayshrine teleports or Lightning Destruction Staves or Classes or Skills or Potions) and how they would be used.

I am of the opinion that spellcrafting does not fit ESO and has extremely limited usability. Things like Speechcraft or Barter or Destruction spells or Teleportation or temporary skill buffs are either 1) already in the game in some other form, or 2) so minute that the effort to add them to the game would be a waste of time.

I TOTALLY get spellcrafting from a flavor, lore, and aesthetic feeling! But that could be handled as a motif... Why should Spellcrafting be a whole new system? And FUNCTIONALLY, what would it do?
