This new system ruins character development. How can we trust people know what they are doing now?

I don't want account wide titles but what your worried about is a non issue, if they got the title that means they've been threw it before and know what they are doing even if they haven't on a new character.

It's still the same person doing it. They might not be capable of doing it on that particular character, but with the way combat changes so frequently, that could still be true even now.

I'm pretty mixed on the account wide titles aspect for sure. I mean i guess but then again no ...idk how i really feel at this time tbh...

1) people use and notice titles?

2) I thought achievements as a gauge of "can they do this hardmode" were already "useless" due to paid carry runs.

I've mixed feelings about it,on one hand it's cool on the other hand am a bit... Well I've alt characters for specific stuff to unlock, I don't need all DB achievements on my main character for example as I specifically have a character for it.

This doesn't add any more uncertainty than paid carries add.

When in doubt, ask for logs (on PC).

I can't say I think this is a good thing, either. I think this is one of those "squeaky wheel" situations, where all the people who haven't thought this through have been begging for it for eight years while everyone who understands the value of character separation had nothing to say on the matter.

And now the bad-idea wheel is getting greased.

Just speaking for myself, my competence on my various DPS characters varies wildly, so linking Achievements will be pretty much useless now. Additionally, there's a real feeling of accomplishment for some achievements that now I'll only get to feel once. It's a bad idea. It's always been a bad idea. I don't want my no-death runs on my dps to translate to my healer nor vice versa. Getting that little thrill from learning I've killed 350 skeletons in vBC1 still hits even when I've already gotten it four other times. Bye bye, little thrill.

I am concerned that people will claim non meta completes weren't done on those characters. There will be mudslinging saying it wasn't x and x wasn't done in such such build

I'm a bit uncomfortable with this too, as my characters do different things and I don't want them to all have the same access to tiles that in many cases they haven't, and shouldn't, have access to as they haven't played that content. Any chance this could be a choice?

I understand that I'm in the minority here, but account wide titles for things like trial trifectas ruins the fun for people who already have the title.

currently, once you have finished every trifecta you can work on getting it on other toons. It gives you a reason to keep playing.

If the titles are account wide, there is no reason in the future to continue playing once you've completed everything.

Titles have been meaningless cosmetic fluff for a long time.

@ZOS_Kevin I got a concern, what is the point of creating an alt now if all titles and achievements are unlocked? My new alt will literally have nothing to work towards and even when you do complete something you don't get the satisfaction or reward of completing it with that new character. It will literally take attachment from any new characters from us, I know it will for me.

This should be optional at least.

I'm happy about account wide titles, but then I've never cared about proving how many times I've done a particular thing. I use titles purely for thematic reasons - if they fit the character I use them, if not I don't. This will give me a lot more options for titles to use on each character, including things which are otherwise impractical like using Explorer on a new character who is just starting out.

I'm not sure about the achievements, I want to know how it will work first. If it's like the existing addon (which I can't remember the name of) that gives you the option to see achievements per-character or account-wide then that's fine, if it means all achievements you've completed are now shown on all characters that will take a bit more getting used to, because I'm used to seeing achievements as a record of what that character has done, and some I specifically don't want on certain characters (like the murderer achievement). But that could be avoided by having two lists - one account wide and one per character - or by showing which characters have completed it.

I don't get it why are some people mad about this. Haven't they played other MMOs? In other MMOs titles and achievements are also account-wide. It's like they would say that account-wide skins/pets/mounts are a bad thing "because you earned it with only 1 characters". Sheesh.

Talk about further dumbing down the gameplay.

I'm one person playing a game. If i unlock something, i want it to be UNLOCKED for me, not conditional. I don't want to have to go through and redo it over and over and over again for every character. How many times do i have to earn something before i've actually earned it?

I am really excited for this, it is far beyond the human body to get all achievements on 18 characters, they are simply creating content to quickly for this.

I wouldn't be too petty over people 'faking achievement' as achievement links can already be VERY easily forged, and if you can get an achievement on one class it does not take much additional skill to get it on an other class, just more time. This is a massive grind reduction and I love it!

I'm personally happy about this update.

For the few people who have everything/most of everything... getting the titles/achievements on multiple toons is the main reason to continue playing.

It's fine for games that have different rewards for endgame, but when titles are pretty much all you get in ESO for endgame achievements, it ruins the fun/replayability for those that have it all.

Pretty sure ship have sailed on that one already. I also think titles should be character bound (but not achievement itself, just title attached). Won't bother me much though, would just quit replaying some content on some alts, that's it.

Definitely prefer to earn vanity titles on each toon. Just because I can do something on a dps doesnt mean I can perform at the same level for tank. I look forward to earning the title on multiple toons and I know Im not aline in that.

I've carefully avoided getting the "Murderer" and other crime achievements on some characters while gleefully chasing them on others.
