Ugh, just why? It's an MMO game, get people to team up. Not to mention that overland content is already extremely easy, so why would anyone need help from an NPC is beyond me.
Tell that to the newer players that constantly ask for help at Nindaeril's Perch

Thus would be the most useless thing ever. Outdoor content in ESO is already so incredibly easy that you can basically solo everything. Why would you ever need a companion?
World bosses. Dragons. Harrowstorms.
Never mind the fact that "you" applies to you, personally - not everyone can "basically solo everything."
Dont tell me there are ppl that play this game more then 4h and have problem with overland mobs, most overland is brain dead easy even for super casuals.
I helped a guild mate whit basic needed for a rotation
I made her do a dummy test to see where she was before
3million in 15 minute 3kdps
She didnt use light attack, food or potion
Was slowly inputing her skill
Iafter about 15 minutes explaination and training she was up to 20k dps
She was playing sice console release
So yes there is people that do have problem even with overland content
no no no no pls dont allow companions in pvp dungeons trials wtf

But wait...
"Develop a relationship?" Relationship?
Why the heck the reveal stream if so far away! By Mora's slimy tentacles, I crave knowledge!
My god people ask more ways for player expression and characterization - they might actually get it with a companion they can talk with and now people hate the idea.
never satisfied with anything
It's almost like different people want different things from the game.
I mean, I'm not really excited about the idea. Maybe if we could have a total of 2 or 3 combat companions, and we could get a real party feel, but I need to know more before I commit. (And, that could be the point, this could be the, "here's three NPCs who will run dungeons with you,") in which case, cool for someone, I guess.
then you might as well put the P2W tag on it and call the game an day
Like it would matter. If they push more than 10k DPS, I will be shocked. (Assuming they're not designed to scale off your DPS, or something equally weird.)
lets say your an dd 1 bots an healer lets say low end heal lvl even , then others tank that taunts everything around them both having low damage say 7.5k even taking them into any SOLO area would more then needed to call them P2W as you can only get them by paying more into the game and only by that way

What kills me is people who are not loyal sticking around to whine and complain about everything this team does.
This is why I'd much rather play with my companion over any of you. The companion will be cool with me.
I am thankful I have a fun game to play. I will continue my support for at least 2 more years. Thank you ZOS.
Unfortunately, I have to agree, so much negativity in some comments.
I'm glad that evidently, I've got such low standards that I'm thrilled for every new thing added to the game.
I can't wait for tonight's reveal!

When I think of companions, I think of “kill jester” from adventure call. I’m not a fan of them

Now, I need to run Wrothgar on, about, 25 more characters...

BLACKWOOD???
That is the name for the next chapter? Blackwood.. Really? Blsckwood is just a small forest in southern cyrodiil, not even that significant, if I was a new player and I saw ESO: Blackwood on the shelves I would NOT think it was an expansion at all, I would think ot was some minor spin-off game like TES Travels: Dawnstar, let's take a look at previous expansion names..
ESO: MORROWIND
This is named after the 3rd single player game in the series, it is an alluring name which would bring interest.
ESO: SUMMERSET
Same as above, very alluring name, maybe even more so then Morrowind as up until that point we had never seen the Suummerset Isles in any modern TES game.
ESO: ELSWEYR
Exactly the same as above, very alluring name
ESO: GREYMOOR
What is Greymoor? A building? This should of been named ESO: Blackreach because people at least knew about Blackreach from Skyrim.
ESO: BLACKWOOD
This name and Greymoor are not good for marketing purposes, unless you played Oblivion you would not even know what Blackwood is and even then most may not remember due to it's general insiginficance in the game it was part of, what would make anyone think this name would attract customers? It should of called it is ESO: Deadlands, at least people would know the name from Oblivion.
