    Blackwood...

    BLACKWOOD???

That is the name for the next chapter? Blackwood.. Really? Blsckwood is just a small forest in southern cyrodiil, not even that significant, if I was a new player and I saw ESO: Blackwood on the shelves I would NOT think it was an expansion at all, I would think ot was some minor spin-off game like TES Travels: Dawnstar, let's take a look at previous expansion names..

    ESO: MORROWIND

This is named after the 3rd single player game in the series, it is an alluring name which would bring interest.

    ESO: SUMMERSET

Same as above, very alluring name, maybe even more so then Morrowind as up until that point we had never seen the Suummerset Isles in any modern TES game.

    ESO: ELSWEYR

Exactly the same as above, very alluring name

    ESO: GREYMOOR

What is Greymoor? A building? This should of been named ESO: Blackreach because people at least knew about Blackreach from Skyrim.

    ESO: BLACKWOOD

This name and Greymoor are not good for marketing purposes, unless you played Oblivion you would not even know what Blackwood is and even then most may not remember due to it's general insiginficance in the game it was part of, what would make anyone think this name would attract customers? It should of called it is ESO: Deadlands, at least people would know the name from Oblivion.

If I hadn't already bought ESO then a name which seems unfamiliar is actually more likely to get my interest, because it sounds like something new. At first glance Morrowind looks like they're re-releasing a game I've already got as a DLC, which makes it seem pretty pointless to buy. You have to read into it to find out that there are differences.

Summerset and Elseweyr are better, because those are areas we haven't seen since Arena and it's obvious a modern game is going to be quite different to how it looked in Arena. But something with the TES name and an unfamiliar title is more interesting to me because that suggests it's something new. (Of course the downside is it's not really, not only is it an area we visited in Oblivion but the storyline currently sounds like a re-hash of Oblivion as well.)

Having said that I find it hard to believe there are many TES fans who are waiting to buy ESO until a specific city or hold or other little bit of the map is added. I can't imagine someone who had previously decided they don't want this game changing their mind just because they hear that Solitude or Blackreach is now included. Even if you wanted a big area like Elseweyr there was some of the province in the base game and that's likely to have been just as appealing as the bits added in the chapter. (That is actually part of what interested me about ESO, the chance to visit parts of Tamriel we haven't seen before.)

If they are anything like the NPC companions we get in the game now that cant kill anything and stand 5 miles away being atacked keeping you in combat then you can forget it.

Also we're well overdue a CP re-work. lets not forget that.

So fingers crossed for later, but as the last 2 years have been pretty dissapointing my expectations are low.

What's up with the two points labeled 'REUSE'. Reuse what?

This is a data mine of text files, they're not supposed to be seen by players in this format.

My guess is someone put something in those lines and then it was deleted later on, and rather than delete the lines and have to move everything else (and then change all the places which refer to that line) they marked them as ones which can be reused.

Considering there's an emote just above and a pet below then outfit styles I suspect it's similar collectables. Maybe something which was planned but didn't look as good as a 3D model as it did in the concept art? Or refers to content which was cut from the release or changed and would make no sense without it (like the khajiit martial arts emotes - if they'd changed it so the khajiit learned something else in their temples the emotes would just look nonsensical).

Ugh, just why? It's an MMO game, get people to team up. Not to mention that overland content is already extremely easy, so why would anyone need help from an NPC is beyond me.

Speaking as someone who doesn’t need any help I fully support having a dumb amount of followers.

I think my current Skyrim mod has like 11 people and animals following him and that doesn’t even account for the numerous skeletons.

I would think its connected with the Naga, the divine/mythical snake-like creatures, therefore "Nagahide Welva". Just an idea.

Very interesting. I was really thinking Skingrad over Leyawiin, but I guess there's a lot more land in Blackwood than in the Weald. I keep forgetting that NElsweyr was actually a decently large landmass as opposed to WSkyrim. There really aren't too many obvious dungeons over there though... unless they go for Varsa Baalim (Sundercliff), which was where TES4 put in the Mehrunes' Razor DLC.

So will Skingrad get Q4, or are they going to take it further into Black Marsh and make Gideon the Q4? As much as I'd like to see Skingrad, that really feels like a chapter hub city and Miscarcand would make a great Public Dungeon, so I wouldn't be surprised if they're holding that for 2022 or something with a Hammerfell story. We've never gotten Gideon outside of Arena, so there's a lot more freedom there on that side.

Companions? Meh, I don't even like walking around with pets. Could be nice to try 'soloing' dungeons when you're on at odd hours, or trying to take down a WB as a tank in less than 15 minutes, but it's not a feature I really need. Maybe there'll be something to it. I'm withholding judgement for now. Sure would be fun if you could set one of your alts as a companion, but I know we're all still wishing we could have our alts as houseguests.

Would be nice if they added the hotly-requested 'Pick your own tutorial' here.

Interesting... I notice that the preorder bonus is a full crate this time, not a preview like we got with Greymoor. The Dremora armor looks awesome, and I'm really excited about this weapon emote. And Iron Atro crates? The Atro crates tend to have good stuff, so I'm intrigued. I guess we'll get ideas when the PTS datamines come in... but based on timing there should be another season coming out before that one?

Also wish the collectors stuff pic was bigger. We could use more barbarian/gladiator-type outfits and I want to see that one.

Because the story content is all singleplayer content.... these companions better be useful! :D

The NPC won't be of any real help to you, otherwise why do the story line when they kill everything. Its more likely that you will have to kill the NPC at the end of the story just you feel like you did something useful.

Exactly lmao. Looks like the chapter will be underwhelming if there isn't any new weapon and just fluff.

Not only underwhelming but full of bugs and glitches that will take a year or more to fix.......that's assuming that they even try to fix them.

I wonder if Leyawiin will actually make feasible sense with a canal this time around. In Oblivion you have large ships sailing to the Imperial Isle while there's no physical way they could get in from the bay with Leyawiin lacking the proper clearance for ships. If this is an oversight yet again...good lord.

To be fair that was a technology/hardware issue that they hadn't forseen. Official concept art of Leyawiin for TES4 shows they had planned a much more impressive (and logical) city that allows for ship passage up the Niben. Limitations of the Xbox 360 hardware during development meant cities had to be walled off and put in their own worldspaces (something they still couldn't overcome with Skyrim in the bigger cities) and so Leyawiin ended up in a really unfortunate way :disappointed:

    elder_scrolls_iv_oblivion_conceptart_iHlmt.jpg

Fingers crossed, ZOS have seen and implemented this concept art

Yeah I've seen that concept are before. Something like that would be great but I'm assuming it'll be closer to the final TES IV version for nostalgia purposes. I just hope they made some modifications for ships.

That version of Leyawiin is being realized in some capacity in the Beyond Skyrim Mod while the original Anvil concept art was adapted into Skyblivion.

Yeah - I was really hoping that "Colovian Highlands" gate on the Gold Coast would finally be open, or at the very least some good Imperial content (finally). But alas, more swamps and lizards...

If this companions thing is the only system and we aren’t getting any new skill lines even, this’ll be the first Chapter I don’t buy. What a pointless addition to the game. Hopefully they announce more tonight because this looks like the most disappointing chapter yet in a year with other MMOs coming out and pple already flocking to Shadowlands as is.

Reminds me of Osgiliath in LOTR, which makes sense since Oblivion was all based on those movies.
