So I did Dark heart of Skyrim.

What a surprise /s, the story boss wasn’t hard at all in anyway whatsoever as it was clearly designed for new players only.
And just like season of the dragon, these boss fights killed all immersion and sense of urgency in the story, because they presented no challenge or threat in the gameplay.

They hype these characters up like they’re the most powerful thing around that you should be really worried about but they’re mechanics aren’t engaging or interesting, they’re so very basic.

Did the Main story of Blackwood - the boss was a bit better. They moved around, used knockbacks, summoned a plethora of minions, etc.

but it was still fairly basic in that it was designed for new players

It's funny how this Topic was linked in a separate thread and used as evidence that my goal is "Better Farmable Rewards" when there is around 15 pages here showing that is NOT the case.

This is a thread from a year ago.
So to re-cap what I am asking for at this point - at most

Story Bosses have a Normal / Veteran setting

    - Normal is basically how they are right now
    - Veteran has added stats & mechanics, it drops purple zone gear and has a couple of achievements at most.

I think it should be repeatable to maximize participation numbers and justify making this change - others think it should not be repeatable.

What matters overall is that there is a separate Veteran setting for Story Bosses so then players of different skill levels can have an encounter that is Engaging & Fun for them.

The OP is 100% correct about main story bosses dying in a few seconds are anti-climactic and ruin the immersion.

    I can get behind this.

I remember when I beat ole Stonefire for the first time, he felt difficult he was painful too...admittedly part of the difficulty was me sucking at the game but it actually felt like a boss fight, not only that he was the "end" of thee main story and so it was gratifying to beat him and felt like a challenge. Now hes a complete push over.

I think Named enemies in quests and story bosses should be a lot more difficult. Keep the mobs at the current difficulty. Powerful mages should fight like powerful mages, Great warriors should fight like great warriors and so forth.

I am glad you didn't expand this to overland content I think I am about fed up with seeing those threads, mostly because its a very niche sector of the community being very loud and as a long standing player, I've been there and done that Vet rank overland was not fun, especially craglorn.
Ah, e-communities - the "pinnacle" of the internet............yeah, right.

I personally against special rewards, maybe an achievement at maximum but that's the line. I want a challenge and memorable content, currently i can get that only in dlc dungeons and that's barely enough. Vet mode wouldn't hurt anyone and we don't really need any pats on the back for doing it.

hard to disagree with this. i mean, if all people really want is harder content then the harder content IS the reward.

Not everyone plays for the exact same reasons - which is why lots of "veteran" content has separate rewards , which is why I proposed the "Achievements" but at this point I don't care. Just give me a more challenging & engaging encounter that lives up to all the hype and I'd be happy

YES it's insulting to the writing of the stories that the bosses have so little HP.

There's a 188 page thread on this, really no need to necro one.

    To quote the first poster:

    1. This is NOT about “veteran overland mode“ nor is it saying, in any way whatsoever, that there is a lack of difficult content in the game.
This is purely about how the gameplay of a main story boss impacts the story.

What is it with these forums and the dislike of other people voicing their opinions? Do you not agree with me? Maybe respons with some arguments instead of making me feel like i did something wrong? If i were you i would be thankful that i took the time to type here in the hope to make ESO a better place for everyone!

    Greetings,

We have closed this topic as it was originally created in October 2020. In many cases, it's better to create a new thread on a topic that you want to discuss as opposed to bumping one that is rather old.

    Thank you for your understanding.
