1) who do you think are supplying you with all those mats on the guild traders?
And ib4 some smart alec points out that it is several groups. Yes I agree but I assure you that the much reviled "flower pickers" are a significant source of common mats, especially raw mats.
2) if you think the desync and lag doesn't exist in overland, think again. It's very prevalent. Less immediately fatal, but no less present and no less annoying. And when you can't do anything at all for several seconds even a group of skeevers can become a fatal encounter.
Well not being able to fight is a huge nuisance even for those reviled "flower pickers". Not to mention that the casuals on the whole tend to have less invested in the game that hard core pvp and pve players and so are much more likely to move on to another game if the threshold of annoyance grows too high.
Conclusion. Maybe the rise in prices aren't hoarding so much as it is a part of the player base that this forum loves to hate and think contribute nothing to the game that are now leaving in significant enough numbers for it to be felt. And unlike hard core pvp and pve players this group likely won't make a big deal about them leaving, they'll just quietly fade away and move on to the next game.

Much more likely that canny operators have been buying up all the ancestor silk knowing that they can then raise the price as the Anniversary event starts.
Historical base mats all increase in price sharply at this point.
Similarly crafting surveys will skyrocket
Go fish...
(Or in this case, farm)
Plus it will only get worse in the short term as crafting writs provide by far the easiest way to collect Anniversary boxes

BUT NOT BABY WIPES OR PAPER TOWELS OR NAPKINS!
Can't understand the irrational fear driving this public panic and rush on retail for supplies like TP and bottled water. The latter which is already provided for FREE right out of their tap
Speaking of which: alternative hygienic products the likes of baby wipes and paper towels are potentially limited resource commodities due to the higher processing requirements on the manufacturing end. Using cheaper alternatives like SOAP AND WATER (and hand sanitizer whenever possible) are not only cheaper, but a more practical alternative should these manufactured TP resources run out. And finally, should The Walking Dead scenario come to pass, then there is always going to be wild life vegetation which our ancestors have used since the dawn of time....
Just need to think outside the box ppl.
The toilet paper shortage is no joke though, people have even been stealing it from the public toilets in the nearby towns.
