In terms of races, adding literly any race, other than the ones established in lore would meet with huge backlash. Races are the part of the world building and they would have to re-write the lore and add NPCs of that race too.
I mean it would be plain wierd to see minotaurs or goblins or... Dwemers just casually walking through a town right ?

The only racial aspect ZOS can add is different "sub-races" like different types of Khajiits (introduced this year) or Naga Argonians (Introduced last year in Murkmire).

No, because the lore is established whether you like it or not.

Go and play WoW if you want Dwarves.

For them to exist in ESO there would have to be a deep, involved, believable, even EPIC storyline for their return, and disappearance later. There are too many mysteries and unanswered questions involved in the whole race. I simply don't think the current team is up to the challenge it would be to do it right and I'd rather keep the mystery than have it flubbed.

Sea Elves would be something I can see. But then Bethesda hasn't added a new playable race since orcs and Imperials were added in Morrowind. Ever since then its always been the following ten Races. Altmer Argonion, Breton,Bosmer, Dunmer, Imperials, Khajiit, Nords, Orcs and Redguards. Imperials were the race left out in Eso for some reason at the start but were later added in. So its always been those ten races. I do think Eso could get away with playable Sea Elves. But it is unlikely they will and any new playable races to the game. So as much as I would like to see a new race it is unlikely still hope for variant furstocks of khajjit that could be added in. But then they might not even do even that. Who knows with them. It has to do with coding too I think.

From a strict lore perspective, probably not. However, from a personal point of view my first default character in any CRPG is a dwarf, and it frustrates me immensely when I cannot play him in a long-term MMORPG.

They could add dwemer npc that could give us some answers but also provide more questions to this topic and by that expand lore a little (like our pal, Yagrum from Morrowind). But for dwemer as possible race for players, this is a big no no

I would much rather see a race like the akiviri or Lilmothiit be options. The dwemer disappeared long before the second era and they should remain that way to preserve the lore.

Nope. Their disappearance needs to stay the greatest and most debated mystery on Nirn. Should never be a playable race.

Exactly. They are a mystery. Intended to be a mystery and should remain a mystery.

As mentioned multiple times previosuly, cuz lore.

Also, I don't think ppl who want to play as a "dwarf" in ESO realize that they are much more akin to the dunmer than the stereotypical dwarf in fantasy genre. They like beards, and the physical similarities end there.

Would you like to see a Dwarven or the Dwemer race get added to ESO? We know there are Dwarven ruins in the game. I would love to be able to play as a Dwarf :)

I think its funny seeing so many folk commenting with views the the effect of "no, they dont exist any more in lore, they are from the past".

As if ESO does not exist in a world of magic, multiple dimensions, spirits, gods... but nah, bringing the Dwemer back would be totally unrealistic!

Dragons vanished. Now they are back. It really isnt an issue to bring back the Dwemer in some form, should ESO/ZOS wish to, they can create a fitting story arc and explanation to do so I am sure.

Personally I do not feel strongly about it either way. But I have always wanted to know what happened and always thought it was strange that ESO locked out one of the fantasy genres main races from its game.

No. They have all vanished from Tamriel just like most of my friends who used to play this game.

Why don't you go and be negative where they are now.

He's just stating a fact. That's realistic, not negative. You seem like the negative one here.

And that's the excuse to poison OP's thread? Is the topic here about Dwemer race or how the game sucks and evil ZOS.
Why don't you go and open yourself the factual and realistic thread then, and leave OP's fantasy one alone

And now you're going aggressive despite the fact that you were first attempting to lighten the situation on this thread. Interesting. I really am confused in people on here. 🤔

No. They're gone. No one knows what actually happened to them and it should stay that way. Some mysteries should remain mysteries and the dwemer is one of those. And I say this as a huge dwemer fan but I don't want them to stop being mysterious. Let us find out what happened with Fallinesti the walking city instead.

It would be so messy though, to bring the dwemer back in this part of the time line, before Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim which all showed them absent, the only way you could do it is to have time splits, some kind of other dragonbreak. It would also make a mockery of all those empty Dwemer ruins we get to explore in TES III and TES V (Can't remember in Oblivion, just Ayleid ruins)

Maybe we have a world od magic, multiple dimensions, gods, etc but all of this have integrity. Dragons vanished but not all of them, we know that from other games/books/lore (Talos story for example?). Good fantasy worlds don't have everything in it "because it is fictional world", it should have a rich story, be true to it's laws and lore and have something unique in it. Elder scrolls settings fulfill that. If you start add things that are completely against the lore, you will destroy the magic on it (J.K.Rowling is good example of this behavior as her actions after she finished HP saga really do more harm to the series then good)

    Short answer: No!

    Long answer: HELL, NO!

The Dwemer are long gone and nobody knows why, that is the whole point. There has only ever been one Dwemer since then.

If lore matters not, what is next? The return of the Aedra? Plasma cannons? Spaceships?

Isn’t the vestige only considered as one person? It really wouldn’t be lore breaking if it’s added correctly since it would only be one dwarf to make an explanation for.

I wouldn't mind an appearance by Yagram Bagarn, but that's as much as I'd want to see. I wonder what his condition would be, actually. In Morrowind, he was suffering from Corprus, which wouldn't be a problem yet, 3000 years before Dagoth Ur, the ash storms and the Ghostfence.

It's okay to want to play as a Dwemer, but I don't think it could ever reasonably happen in ESO.

Now, if they came out with an Elder Scrolls game that's set back in the days before the Dwemer vanished, that would be cool.

Perhaps some Psijic story that lets you travel back in time, or at least perceive a prior age (kind of like happens in Stonefalls...).

If you want to play a dwarf like race, we have that in Eso, Its called an Orc. Orcs are the closet thing we will ever get to playable Dwarves.

The lore as it is makes its impossible, Since Dwarves are Elves and they are all gone and disapeared all but one. I really doubt Bethesda would allow them to do it.

So if you want to go for a more dwarf like feel, Then play an Orc. Since they kinda have that feel about them when it comes to crafting things and the hardiness and other traits that people might see in other fantasy worlds.
    3j7i94.jpg

Or a Bosmer since they are one of the shortest races we have.

Dwemer aren't stereotypical short dwarves. Although you can't tell from Yagrum, they seem to be average height. https://en.uesp.net/wiki/File:MW-creature-Dwarven_Spectre.jpg https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Dwemer

For why the idea came up that they are short....Imperial Library gathered together all of the books, forum discussions, interviews and information. https://www.imperial-library.info/content/general-elder-scrolls-weaseling Lots of fun stuff there.
