You think that Bethesda paid the people in the audience to cheer?

This is the dumbest thread I've ever seen on the forums, and that includes a lot of really stupid ***. Give it a break. People who like those games were in the crowd. They were having a good time. They cheered.

God, I rarely go on these forums anymore. Every time I come back, it's just more of this garbage.

What's wrong with people nowadays? Game company announcing big updates. If you don't care for them, do something else. Play something else. If you think the updates could be good, wait to see and try. They did a great job. ESO trailer was like watching Hobbit's Battle of five armies.

This morning I went to FB and saw the latest Bethesda news there. The comments were plagued with all sorts of abominations. So much hate and frustrations, made me question humanity. Luckily they are the 'brave' keyboard warriors frustrated with their own sorry lives and dumping their trash to forums, social networks etc. Minority, but extreme.

As for Commander Keen. I think it's great. First of all, CK was part of my high school days. It's nostalgia thing. Second, I'm glad that Zenimax is committed to ESO, as a mammoth RPG, while having smaller casual games to make more money.

My only wish... I wonder what Tom Hall thinks about CK, as he said in the past that he'd continue the series in the heartbeat had he got the rights. So I'm kind of sad if he isn't employed in Zeni right now. He's the pioneer and a legend of early PC games - from Commander Keen to Wolfenstein, Terminal Velocity, Duke Nukem, Prey, Doom, Rise of the triad. And a creator of Dopefish. Young fellow gamers should know the masters that actually made the original games of current franchises. :)

I got to go to the first BE3 when Fallout 4 was announced. Everyone we met in line, etc was a huge Bethesda fan. We all clapped and applauded through every game announcement, even the ones were weren't excited over, because we all know how much effort is put into the games and that can be appreciated.

There are also a lot of FO76 fans, just because it got poor reviews and you in particular don't like it, many others do. On top of that, one of the biggest complaints about FO76 is lack of NPCs, and they are adding those, so of course people would be excited.

So no, I don't think anyone was paid to cheer. They were happy to be there and enjoying themselves.

Side note, ESO had a lot of complaints and bad user reviews at launch, problems with servers, quest issues, game didn't feel like TES, etc. The game has changed quite a bit since then.

Also, it's not like ESO players wouldn't like to cheer.

They get called "fan boys", "white knights" and "employees" by the rest of the people, and generally treated like that dotty old aunt that collects lint.

I know some ZOS people were sitting down front, or at least it looked that way. Saw Gina and Rich on the stream. My feeling is that those were the only people paid.

I was impressed by the applause that ZOS got, which was quite the contrast to the applause that others got. It was a lot wider than just a few people. Nice to see Firor get a good reception.

    "Who clapped!"

    Who cares who clapped!?!?

Server performance, Bosmer stealth, Argonian resistences, Altmer stamina regen, pvp/pve balancing, poorly designed skills no one uses, the dumbing down of overland difficulty . . . Play how you want (unless we change what you want)!

Let's have that conversation. Because right now, there is only one side doing any talking and it can't be heard over your deafening silence!

To applaud is something that motivates us to continue to do our best, to overcome obstacles, to adopt a positive outlook, to maintain morale. Why not applaud your company if you are proud of it, and proud of what you have done.

I disagree completely. Like i said in my original post, it makes me cringe every time i see this behavior.

That doesn't mean i'm not proud of things i have done, but to scream from the top of my lungs about how great of a person i am is just not something i would ever do.

Anyone (not on the payroll) applauding the current, bug-strewn mess (even pre-EU maintenance) could only be, accurately, described as dotty.

Don't get me wrong, I still like this game, but there are certain bugs they neither fix, nor find workarounds for and these same bugs persist year after year.

    How is that OK?

How much were the tickets? Or were they free to fans of specific games..

I mean I know I'd pay $50 /$60 bucks plus.....and loose a days pay while I'm at it to go to a venue I hate half the event....

I mean seriously people... I laugh, clap and cheer in a movie theater and that's $15 a ticket.

In Europe, it's considered somewhat crass to cheer yourself and by extension, a company you work for.
A polite clap would probably be considered more appropriate.

May be you forget how the street are after a Football, Rugby, evening ?

No, they only really do it when they're in the US and trying to fit in, or talking to a US audience.

There has been an Americanisation of European culture, to an extent, but it's still not on anything like the same level.

On the whole, excluding certain sporting events, we don't cheer ourselves.

In the UK, we smile in a self effacing way, while looking downwards slightly, from time to time and shift, uneasily, from foot to foot.

That is the British way. xD

Considering the people that pay to go to E3 and be in the crowd watching the event and take the time off work to go do it too... It's likely that people who actually really like these games do attend. and will cheer. And considering the cameras and mics are up at the stage mostly I wouldn't be shocked if the loud cheers from people close to the front are going to be heard more than the ones at the back or the middle. Like. some of these people didn't attend bethesdas presentation at E3 just because they were at E3 at the time. they probably paid to go there just for bethesdas presentation. I think it's safe to say they like their games alot and would cheer loudly for them.

I'm very proud of the work i've done (and hopefully be able to continue to do for a long time).

I feel sorry for people that can't be happy for work they've done without having to announce it to the whole world as loudly as they possibly can.

My condolences to people that can't be happy for themselves but need outside validation for it to be a worthy feeling.

I mean... seriously, I cant imagine that there are really people who still cheer for Fallout 76 or Elder Scrolls Blades...

And that new Mobile game? I honestly thought I accidently took skooma when I saw that one xD

I’d cheer for Fallout 76. It was fun while I played it, but like all Fallout games, you eventually reach a point where everything gets too easy and there isn’t much to do. So...

Yay! More to do in F76! Yay!

No, and i think asserting they need to is silly, you understand the first lower level is a mix up of developers from beth and from across the industry who all celebrate their market? I know the internet youtube generation is all about the hate rage and dramas but seriously take a step back and realize what you are saying here.Should the industry not cheer, should fans not celebrate? Should we all come together for the 'common good' and hate all mobile games universally for the memes online? I dont play mobile games i never will, but i understand why corporations make them. Since you know I like eating steak for dinner myself. As for your response to commander keen; What is wrong with Beth making a new commander keen, and considering the nature of the childrens game it is, why wouldnt they put it on the mobile market?

Nothing to celebrate when ESO is a laggy bug infested dumpster fire. Zos just ignores all the issues and acts like everything is just sunshine and rainbows

What you need to remember is that the live stream was a marketing/PR stunt. (We used to call these Dog and Pony shows in other parts of the IT industry) Do you really expect that at a Marketing event like this that you are going to hear acknowledgement of the real problems and issues that they and any other MMO company is having? Of course not.

If you have ever been to an event at a large convention like this, you would know that it isn't that hard to get a room full of people to cheer for whatever you want to talk about. Think about it. You are there. If you holler and scream loud enough, you might get the camera to focus on you for a while, and get your brief moment of fame. (Gee guys! did you see me on the live stream?) So, why not?

There is no need to pay anyone to do this. If people follow the herd mentality, (and they normally do) they will holler and cheer without being paid for it.

As many detractors as there are to both FO76 and Blades, just because you personally do not hang out with people who love them doesn't mean those people don't exist and that they wouldn't pay good money themselves to travel to E3 and/or spend hours in line to be in the BE3 audience.

The internet helps you find like-minded people, which is a wonderful thing.

Sometimes you and those like-minded people end up in an echo chamber of your own devising, however, and that's how people come to think that posting a thread like this is constructive and/or enlightening.
