Also, it's not like ESO players wouldn't like to cheer.

I disagree completely. Like i said in my original post, it makes me cringe every time i see this behavior.I know, but still i disagree, as i saw numerous VIP and companies (french, English, Italian ...) self applaud themselves. It is the human part. Never saw a child applaud himself ? So what, beeing an adult means that you have to loose the child in you ?
To applaud is something that motivates us to continue to do our best, to overcome obstacles, to adopt a positive outlook, to maintain morale. Why not applaud your company if you are proud of it, and proud of what you have done.
And to applaud is more related to squawk, absence, collective, intense, and ovation than polite.
I've seen polite applause at UN meetings, and i rather not have those.
But, nowadays the norm is to doubt and insult any good feelings. So sad.

They get called "fan boys", "white knights" and "employees" by the rest of the people, and generally treated like that dotty old aunt that collects lint.

In Europe, it's considered somewhat crass to cheer yourself and by extension, a company you work for.
A polite clap would probably be considered more appropriate.
May be you forget how the street are after a Football, Rugby, evening ?
They dont clap, they just sing, jump on cars (alarms starts), they yell, they sometimes put fire, .... yes more appropriate you say ?
He's specifically talking about cheering for yourself as a person and/or company.
As in "Hey look how great i am!".
That has nothing to do with the lemming like sports idiocy you see in Europe ...

That doesn't mean i'm not proud of things i have done, but to scream from the top of my lungs about how great of a person i am is just not something i would ever do.
PS: This has nothing to do with "nowadays" and "norm" or whatever else you want to read into this. I've been like this ever since i can remember, the child you describe was never me and i never felt like i was missing out on anything, neither as a child nor as an adult.
I'm very proud of the work i've done (and hopefully be able to continue to do for a long time).... maybe it's so foreign to be Happy of work you do for some....
My condolences for such or people....

No, and i think asserting they need to is silly, you understand the first lower level is a mix up of developers from beth and from across the industry who all celebrate their market? I know the internet youtube generation is all about the hate rage and dramas but seriously take a step back and realize what you are saying here.Should the industry not cheer, should fans not celebrate? Should we all come together for the 'common good' and hate all mobile games universally for the memes online? I dont play mobile games i never will, but i understand why corporations make them. Since you know I like eating steak for dinner myself. As for your response to commander keen; What is wrong with Beth making a new commander keen, and considering the nature of the childrens game it is, why wouldnt they put it on the mobile market?
Nothing to celebrate when ESO is a laggy bug infested dumpster fire. Zos just ignores all the issues and acts like everything is just sunshine and rainbows
