Venture to the land of the Khajiit in The Elder Scrolls Online: Elsweyr, our newest chapter, an epic story in an all-new zone. Face dread creatures from the past - Dragons! - and discover the dark skills of a new character class, the Necromancer, as you join with new friends and old enemies to save Elsweyr from war and devastation. ESO reaches new storytelling heights with an epic tale told across a Chapter and three DLC game packs.

Pre-purchase The Elder Scrolls Online: Elsweyr, the next chapter of ESO, and immediately receive the Rahd-m'Athra Horse Mount. Journey to the home of the Khajiit this June! Explore an all-new zone, battle Dragons, unlock the new Necromancer character class, and more!

Venture to Elsweyr: Explore the savannahs and canyons of the homeland of the Khajiit that's been ravaged by plague and warfare. Can you help the resilient Cat-Folk land on their feet?
Grasp the Power of Necromancy: Wield mastery over life and death with a new character class that unearths the secrets of spirits and the undead and puts their grim power into your hands.
Defend Against Dragons: An ancient horror buried since mythic times has been released, and scaled terror attacks from the skies! You'll need new allies and weapons to take them down.

"Largest of all the furstocks, or ""breeds"" of Khajiit, the Senche-raht is fully intelligent, and in combat often serves simultaneously as warrior and mount."

"Allows you to convert your gear to the Dragon Bone style."

    The most interesting thing is:

You'll need new allies and weapons to take them down.

Guess this new weapons and allies is just a impact phrase, no real thing behind em.

Also sad the pre purchase is so lame as a mount. And still no class changes.

For me, time to drop ESO until the next update.

Really? Every mainline TES game since Morrowind has allowed you to be a necromancer. I can understand not liking the concept of it, but to say it makes it not a TES game anymore is strange since it's had such a history of it.

Yes, you have been able to make necromancers as characters, but if ZOS makes it a character class, ESO will be the first TES game to do that.

So basically like every class in ESO?

Not all of them. Nightblade and Sorcerer go back to Arena, and have been in every main TES game except for Skyrim.

Anyway, I my comment was basically because there seems to be a persistent misunderstanding that other TES games had a necromancer class. I wanted to extend what Robo_Hobo said to make the distinction between allowing the player to be a necromancer and providing a necromancer class.
That is true, necromancer was never an class. neither was summoner as I can see.
Summoning did not differentiate between summoning undead and daedra in Morrowind and Oblivion.

Player classes has been pretty much an joke in TES. in Oblivion I assume many of them would be totally useless because how leveling and attribute points worked.
Necromancers was common as NPC enemies however, guess all remember them from Oblivion, who also has conjurers who had different robes and summoned daedra instead.
Also the necromancers in Skyrim who reanimated rabbits and chickens :)
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

About Meridia, I'm really hoping ZoS doesn't make her an antagonist like the other daedric princes in previous stories... but wouldn't be surprised considering the route they've been taking with most of them. I guess with the upcoming necromancer class, it could hint at her possibly being an antagonist at some point. I hope not bc she's my favorite daedric prince & my khajiit magplar is a priestess of Meridia. Also it would be cool to have a Colored Rooms DLC, like Clockwork City imo.

Im sorry to say, but she betrayed our boi Darien, she has to pay, even if we have to force our way into the Colored Rooms and confront her.

Darien will be saved, or avenged, as they say, bros before Daedric ***.

What would be interesting is if upon picking the necromancy class, you were always kill on sight by guards in towns and maybe even by other players. That would be pretty cool since necromancy is pretty much banned in all facets and all regions of Tamriel.

I mean in the old (mostly retconned) lore, every culture had a different opinion on necromancy. Altmer studied in secret, mostly to find ways to extend their lives, khajiit didn't really care about selling corpses to the sload, and imperials saw necromancy as just another form of scholarship worth studying.

But since Oblivion and ESO removed most of that cultural nuance, it is weird to imagine a bunch of necromancers walking around alinor surrounded by the living dead. But thats more than likely what will happen.

It wasn't until the time the Oblivion game was set that necromancy was actually banned by the Mages Guild. Sure, many mages frowned upon it, but just talk to all the mages at the mages' tower (whatever it was called) in the Imperial City and you'll get varying opinions on the Arch Mage's decision to ban necromancy. You'll find this variety of opinion in all the Mages Guild Halls throughout the game. Some agree with him, some think it's a bit too high-handed, others think there's nothing particularly "wrong" with necromancy, etc.

Also, in Skyrim, if you were a mage, you more than likely practiced necromancy, unless you solely summoned Daedra (which is another issue in itself). You didn't summon/conjure skeletons, but rather you raised the dead. A corpse was required to use any of the reanimate dead spells - which, incidentally, were sold by mages.

And, if we're going to have necromancers KOS or gain a bounty when entering towns, the same should happen for vampires and sorcerers. After all, any involvement with Daedra is also generally frowned upon. It's just that we're all used to it because the games have always allowed us to do what is generally considered bad - murder, assassination, thieving, summoning Daedra/undead.

    New weapons.... hmmmm

    New weapons.... hmmmm, indeed

A weapon could be anything from a literal new weapon line, like the spears many have wanted for so long. Or it could just be a story-plot "weapon" that doesn't really add a new mechanic.

From the teaser, I'm guessing it was the tablet that released the dragons (from their slumbering imprisonment), so hopefully the weapons referenced would also be magical tablets, bringing Spellcrafting to the game. Fighting ancient magical beasts with ancient magical spells would make sense.

Another way to interpret it, especially given their description of the Senche-rhat immediately before "new allies and weapons" is that the Senche-rhats are both the new allies and weapons as well as a mount, by implementing them as some new battle pet that you can also ride.

Either way, it's only a few more hours now until we finally find out.

Between the high volume of motifs already in the game and the Arms Packs advertised as having one of every weapon type (2H melee, 1H melee, bow, staff, shield), adding a fundamentally new weapon type seems highly unlikely. Classes are far more self-contained.

I don't know why you'd bring a Senche-raht to a dragon fight, though. Not when siege equipment is a thing.

while playable Necromancers are actually lore-friendly in terms of overall TES lore, in ESO particularly they just couldn't exist. You know, like 90% of the ESO stories/quests are based on fighting against Wormcult and other necromancers, and we know that many Tamriel people (especially Redguards, non-Telvanni Dunmers, Mages Guild and Psijics') most likely wouldn't make a deal with necromancers. If it were a good singleplayer game, there would be unique dialogues, reactions, entire quest lines would be changed or even unavailable if you play as a Necromancer. But I know ZOS, I know how exactly they do implement new content into the game. Players using necromancy just going to be completely ignored by NPCs, Vanus Galerion will let them to become a Mages Guild members, and so on.
I would deal with Necromancer class in ESO if it were implemented correctly, with some new unique mechanics, so they could become a rightfull part of the game's world, you know. But they won't, I'm sure. As I see it, the only way to accept a Necromancer player in ESO for me is just to say "yeah, whatever, he's not a necro, I didn't see that dead body he just had raised up from that grave".

Speaking about dragons... It's ok if it will be only a couple of them, they might be hiding somewhere in the Nirn during the 2nd era, there's no inconsistencies lore-wise.

    @OtarTheMad
I'm not 'just don't like them'. If you're any interested in my opinion you could take a look at my comments history in my profile. I've wrote a lot about necromancer class already, and I don't want to repeat it all again to everyone who don't see the reasons why necromancer player shouldn't be exist in ESO.

I am not going to scroll thru your comment history lol but I will use what you quoted as a guide. You're judging something before we even understand it honestly. Honestly we can be necromancers and still not agree with what is happening with Mannimarco and Molag Bal. As for seeing dead bodies in town, yes, that's a little odd but any odder than a Sorc summoning daedra in a time when a Daedric Prince is trying to destroy Nirn? Or a NB running around town and murdering all the people? We can be The Vestige and be evil.

Exactly. We can also be vampires! In every TES game I've played, I've been able to summon undead as well as Daedra. I'm not sure there's really any difference, now that I think about it more, between, say Oblivion where you "summoned" a skeleton from thin air or Skyrim, where you had to have a corpse to "reanimate." I think they were just trying to be more logical with the mechanics in Skyrim. But, maybe there is a difference. I've seen a few posts about necromancy being a "subschool" of Conjuration, but I'm not sure there's more than just a "game mechanics" difference between summoning an undead minion and raising a corpse.

Sorcerers have the ability to summon Daedra - something which is largely frowned upon. I've had my Daedric pets out while talking with some Mages Guild member about how wrong/evil it is to deal with Daedra of any kind. The only difference is that this has been available to players from the beginning, so no one really sees the disconnect.

Also, not all necromancers necessarily have to be a member of the Worm Cult, or would even want to be. Many would presumably see Mannimarco and the Worm Cult as evil and wouldn't go along with their scheme to assist a Daedric Prince in destroying Tamriel. I don't understand why it's ok for someone who summons Daedra, or who assassinates people, or who steals from people, or who is a vampire, can be the savior of Nirn, but a necromancer can't.

ETA: I've done some more reading, from other posts and UESP, and of course, necromancy has been considered in different ways by different cultures and in different eras. Clearly, there have been different opinions about necromancy throughout Tamriel's history, just as there are in these forums. But, nothing I've read gives me any indication that it would be lore-breaking to have a necromancer class. Perhaps in how the game treats necromancer players and any minions they might have out could be lore-breaking, but no more so than players with summoned Daedra out. Perhaps Daedric summoning isn't frowned upon as much as necromancy, but I'm pretty sure any common citizen of Tamriel would be just as dismayed to have a slew of Daedra running around town (as we do now) as they would undead.

Or for that matter, vampires. I found this statement from the UESP article to be interesting: "Molag Bal is also the father of vampires, undead creatures who often practice and have a heightened affinity for necromancy, or work alongside necromancers. Vampirism is often understood to be a form of necromancy."

Im sorry to say, but she betrayed our boi Darien, she has to pay, even if we have to force our way into the Colored Rooms and confront her.

Darien will be saved, or avenged, as they say, bros before Daedric ***.

If they won't let us save him fast, like this year fast, I will be seriously disappointed.
They are already pretty much killed his chance for a wider fanbase with his disappearance at the end of base game and then keeping it all in a secret for 4 whole years. And all this while characters from other alliances like Naryu and Raz, people who are not exactly your best friends and won't sacrifice their best interests for you or even lives, get all the promotion and attention.
I get it, a lot of people do not find him to be a good character, or character for their tastes. Or don't feel that he's now according to the story the closest thing or person that protagonist can get to be like them in terms of 'daedric entity with mortal's morals'. But it's no less cruel on the side of ZOS doing this to a character. In the end, all drama will work for us small amount of people, who kept waiting no matter what, and the others will just go 'excuse me wat who is this guy'.

Something ESO definitely not is in need of: more pets or battling mounts. The game is already too easy and crowded.

I agree with you, but that kind of stuff appeases the casual masses and takes minimal effort to implement especially compared to substantial new features like Housing or Outfitting, so I fear the powers that be might consider such thing a win-win in their book.

stop it with "spears" already. What's the point to it? An axe but pointy tip? A dagger on a stick? What a lame dumb weapon seriously. As much as i hate the "unarmed" idea, it's better than this spear thing. One hand and rune tied with other spells of school like alteration illusion etc, is the only logical thing to be added.

Okay, there has been more stuff datamined (will add it onto the first post as well):

    From UESP Discord.
    ____________

    The most interesting thing is:

You'll need new allies and weapons to take them down.

    New weapons.... hmmmm

Let's hope it's not just a buzz phrase describing the same old weapon types with new Elsweyr set bonuses...

Of course it is. If they added new weapon types, that would be #2 on their feature list instead of dragons.
I don't get the dragon as major feature.
Morrowind had Warden and battlegrounds as major features.
Summerset had Psijic Order and jewelry crafting as the two major ones.

Necromancer class is an major feature.
An trial boss is not an major feature neither is the boss in the chapter quest line.
Roaming world bosses who take out bot groups :)
    Still not an major feature.

Spell crafting kind of doubt it, as I see it its unknown.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Maybe a lot of the Dragons will be appearing at their own equivalent of Dolmens and Geysers. Perhaps at the locations of Word Walls?

Still, huge dragons roaming through tropical woods, deserts or beaches? Sounds incredibly weird.

I'd dig a worldwide dragon invasion though.

It'd be cool if they did it the way that Summerset implemented Psijic rifts. Not only will that let us go back to older zones but it would be as close to a 'random Skyrim dragon encounter' as ESO could get. :)

A "dragon invasion" would be the worst thing to happen. It makes absolutely no sense.

The only thing tough about making a spear weapon line is most of the abilities you'd give to them belong to Templars.

Agreed, not to mention the work required to update all the existing motifs to include a spear. If a new weapon skill line is added it makes more sense, considering motifs, that it incorporates the pre-existing models.
