They need to be reminded that this is a game. It is not something deadly serious. In 50 years, in 100 years, no one is going to remember Elder Scrolls Online's Cyrodiil lag. All the games of today will have been gone for decades, and all their problems gone with them. If someone cannot laugh about a problem in a game, something that is not going to endure forever, they really need to learn how. They need to learn to step back.

Well, as John Maynard Keynes said, in the long run we’re all dead. Does that mean that nothing is important given the fact that 99.9% of people won’t make an impact beyond their own life and maybe that of their families?

In the grand picture mankind as a whole is just a tiny grain in a vast space. If you put it into that perspective nothing will ever matter.

Like I said, "Sometimes people are too close to something. Closer than is healthy."

Cyrodiil has lag. Everyone important knows this. ZOS knows this. Gina knows this. Players know this. It is not news. If ZOS wants to fix it, they will find a way to fix it. Personally, I don't think they are going to spend the effort required to fix it. That does not mean they are not aware of it, or even that they don't care.

It is not healthy to care about fixing lag more than ZOS does. Players have no control over this. The only healthy outcome is to decide not to care more than ZOS cares. If that means leaving the game, then that is what that means. Others might just decide to live with it and continue to play in Cyrodiil, or stay in the PVE portions of the game.

Just remember that if an ESO player stands on a busy street corner in New York (or London, or Paris, or...), the world they see is filled with people who are getting on with their daily lives completely oblivious to the fact that ESO has lag. They don't care.

If that seems too small, and those people should care about ESO lag, then this picture should help fix that. This is a picture taken in an "empty" part of the sky, about the size of a speck of dandruff held at arms length. This picture contains about 5000 galaxies. There are an uncountable number of stars in those galaxies.

"We find that we live on an insignificant planet of a hum-drum star lost in a galaxy tucked away in some forgotten corner of a universe in which there are far more galaxies than people."

Perspective. ESO lag is not more important that ZOS thinks it is.

Yeah, the underlying issue is important. However, I don't know a single human being that's never made a less-than-stellar decision or statement at some point in their life/career. No need to keep going on about it, and certainly not worthy of crucifying the person.

She's not a mod. She rates a bit higher than that I think. Difference being she would be in the meetings and know of whats going on with the developers while forum mods could be anyone as they only need to know the forum rules. It probably would be more like me reporting the accountant at Burger Kings corporate office to a fry cook at one of their establishments.

    Hi everyone,

I want to personally apologize for the line from today's patch notes. What was meant to be a joke was ultimately distasteful, insensitive, and offensive toward an issue that should be taken seriously. As mentioned in a different thread, we do have a fix going into Update 21 that will help with some FPS issues in Cyrodiil, and we're continuing to look into how to improve overall performance. This is important to us.

    Please accept my apologies.

Honestly, if this issue was not so game breaking for 4 years and for many players, pepole might actually take that as a joke.
But after 4 years, this issue is still floating around, making so many players to leave the game & without ANY statement related to this from ZOS, its kinda a topic u cannot joke about.

we prolly won't see Gina -or any other ZOS employee- making jokes again.

who cares? you can go to some comic show if you need jokes so much.

Yes, who cares if you take away the small things people enjoy about their jobs. But Gina should be considerate of others feelings huh?

This whole thread has become a cesspool of humorless paragraphs because someone wrote one sentence that hurt their poor whittle feelings and made them feel like the people running a video game don't care about the lag(the horror!!) that all these pitiful people have to deal with.

"But we've lost friends because of the lag!!" Did they die irl because of the lag? No. You just don't talk to them anymore cuz they play something else? Then they weren't actually your friend. Do you still talk to them? Then you didn't lose them. Its f****** lag ffs. People are allowed to joke about lag in a video game. Or has that now made the list of insensitive topics we aren't allowed to make light of?

I don't have the time to cross-reference the "lag jokes aren't funny because Cyrodiil makes me cry" people with the "teabagging is just a joke grow a sense of humor" people, but I don't think I really have to.

I remind myself of this regularly. We are only specks living on a larger speck in amongst hundreds of thousands of other specks.

It soon helps me to put a perspective on things.

RIP Atherton, my beautiful little gentle friend. I will miss you forever. Without you I am a hollow shell.

I didn't see a ton of people overreacting about it. Most just said it was inappropriate. The overreaction is people taking that as "ZOMG! YOU ALL ARE FLIPPING OUT OVER A JOKE." There were of course; a couple "I quit. You make fun of me" posts but by large, that isn't the case.

I dont think an apology was needed even. Just an acknowledgment or understanding that it's a serious issue. A lot of people may not notice as much if they are in EP or AD in PC NA, as they have had large queues to get in in the past and still pop lock; but it feels like DC is really struggling outside of a couple guilds to amount to anything and yet it still lags on a weekday. I'm just weary of more people quitting.

    Totally agree.

yes she should if her job is a communication. if her messages offend or irritate some people somehow then she does her job bad. i dont care do they enjoy their job or not. why should i?
