These are not the shiniest times for Templars but better days will come.

(Although i thought the same thing for my magblade and each patch they are definitly worst 😫)

Maybe take some vacations from the templar class? Or maybe the opposite, go from limbo to hell and try the magblade, to cheer up?

Doubt it. I have taken breaks from Templar to play other classes. I have had success with other classes, yes. However, none felt as enjoyable to play as the Templar. It's just disappointing and even frustrating to know your class is bottom tier and having to swallow that going into competitive play.

Think about it for a second. Every advantage that Templars had initially were removed and given to other classes or nerfed to only be effective against noobish players.
Templars never had the ability to pre-buff for fights, never really had built in mobility. Healing such as Major Mending has been removed and given to Wardens and DKs. Major Protection is slotted behind a root ability, other forms taken and given to Warden and Necromancer.
Defensive structures have been gutted and given to other classes to follow suit with ZOS direction of combat. DPS is bottom tier and tied to channeled and cast time abilities, limiting us from taking advantage of LA weaving.
    The list goes on.

Whoops! You updated your guide! I just went to the last page automatically. Well, any other thoughts for a returning player would be fab! Thanks.

Remind me Monday. That's when pts notes drop and I'll see if they adjusted the things they should in order to make Templar competitive.

Otherwise my thoughts are in the guide and that Templar requires more work than NB/Sorc to put together a build.

    Naive

Im like 300k ap away from Grand Overlord and will park this beast in the PvE world if nothing changes.

This is more or less where I'm at. After ticking GO, I don't have any real desire to solo PvP on magplar anymore. The change to dark flare took away the last playstyle I still enjoyed. I've still got her geared up in case I want to heal some friends, but IDK. Not feeling the love right now.

...plus I took my stamblade out for a spin, and it turns out snipe ganking is waaaaaaay easier than flare ganking. Who knew.

    @Jabbs_Giggity yep i understand because although i play all chars, magplar was my first one; It's my main chair still; My achievments and "clompletionist one"; And the one i play 60% of the time, the other 40% for the others;

There is no stronger love than the first one lol

We have been losing identity almost the same way magblades, from times imemorial...
By losing identity i mean the change of most iconic skills or they deterioration by nerfs, the homogenization of classes and canibalization to warden and necromancer...
Always saying the same thing over and over again, but i will continue saying them until someone hears (devs) or eventually i will give up too...

So i still hope for better days... Playing other chars helps in that "waiting" ... But i know it is not the same thing as playing my magplar 😶

been playing since launch. The last time templar was legit strong without cheese was when they still had 30% blazing shield + major mending with minor vit stack and even then you had 20k+ wrecking blow spammers back then lol

I hung up my magplar jersey and started playing the neglected cousin that is stamplar, magplar has been through worse honestly. But how many stamplars do you honestly see in pvp , not that many.

I am not overly impressed by the changes but I think some of us are being a bit dramatic.

The major protection thing is pretty damn sad I'll admit. And DF too, but no one uses that outside of lame gank (mag snipe) builds anyway.

We're getting buffs to Sweep, Charge, Radiant Ward, Ritual fix, not to mention the RAT changes. It's a mixed bag imo, but not all negative.

I see stamplars often actually. There to do nothing but jabs CC'd opponents and use POL. That's about it. I still see MagPlar healers and the occasional tank. But mostly it's all Nightblades, DKs, and petSorcs or negateSorcs. A lot of players that can't hit the broadside of a barn so they just AOE-nuke the place to the ground or ultimate dump as soon as I show up.

I think the problem is we are still going to be in about the same place we were which is not that great of a spot over all.

Someone else said it too that mistform is still most likely going to be needed. 2 seconds of snare immunity is great but does absolutely nothing to mitigate incoming damage so your still going to be forced into block casting heals til your dead even if you can move a little more.

Nuking a magplar with a sorc is very easy there health bar may keep shooting back to full but they will run out of resources far before I do especially non argonian plars.

I'll give the next patch my best shot with my main magplar but if I find myself constantly on the back bar I'm just going to move to sorc or maybe dk since there damage and mitigation/mobility is way better.

I actually agree, I think there's a handful of people in this thread (myself included) who are just hitting fatigue with the overall state of the templars. The brief promise of 4 seconds immunity on RAT, then having it rescinded, was kinda the last straw for me in terms of continuing to make an investment in solo magplar stuff.

For small/medium groups magplar is still (for me) super fun, and I'll use it in that context. I have other classes I haven't played in years, but are leveled fully (undaunted and whatnot), so I'll probably take a couple patches and play with those, but I'll be back, eventually.

Don’t know what Cyrodiil you play then because in comparison to magplars they are pretty rare to see, I’ll see a stam sorc before a stamplar. In fact there’s so few stamplars you know just about every player that plays one for the most part. This goes for open world and bgs.

    If I recall you’re on ps4.

I play BGs on Xbox one. It's pointless for me to go to Cyrodiil without a group. I gave up on that. I see some stamplars. Not as much as everything else but I see them. I recognize them by their jabs and POL. Other than that, they look like all the other stam players running around with their 2H and DBOS (there's diversity in game play for you).

If i remember right it also used to proc engine guardian way back before they nerfed it.(Repentance)

Sure glad the devs are making sure none of our abilities have unintended features!

Well then I don’t know, I said there’s not that many , not that there’s no one playing them. Just know I can name or recognize most stamplar players but I couldn’t come close to doing that with magplar, the AD faction alone probably has 100 plus of them.

Bgs are harder to keep up with because of mmr, different classes get played at different levels.

    Thinking of:

Lightning staff - Unstable Core, Sweeps, Toppling, Annulment, Honor - ult db or empowering
Resto - mist form/Rat, Extended, Rune, Entropy, ally ward, ult - panacea

    Curse Eater, Steadfast Hero, Maw

Curse Eater gives a nice front bar purge for yourself and allies + high steadfast uptime
Stead fast for major protection if you don't have an effect on yourself you can curse eater an ally for it
Maw - because everyone wants a portable LoS tree - well here he is lol (same with engine Guardian)

Toppling for a gap closer. Core for some burst damage (I wanna try using it now)

Light armor, steed and swift so I actually have a chance of escape

currently going stationary gun-ship. rattlecage/bloodspawn/deep-throat. fire/snb alsyum. Steed, eye ghoul drink - imperial race.

dark flare, vamps bane, harness mag, unstable core, ele drain - cresent. mist, run, purge, htd, snb reflect - snb ult that makes skills free on cast.

Play it in one place. things get hairy, move to the next. Nobody wants to deal with that *** in open world, especially since you can cast DF/VB behind you lol. good sorcs get crazy hard to fight because thats their domain, but whatever. Might change bloodspawn to pirate skele for extra cheese or valkyn for extra burst. No idea, and starting to not care lol.

id use war maiden but then I realized the devs dont care for our only mag abilities and give us too many niche abilities that I need the bar space. SO I gave up and slotted the terrible pieces of rattlecage I have.

Meh. I'm kind of waiting to see how it plays out. Going to take an in game break by leveling a necro. I'll play whatever class but it's just disappointing to feel like your main keeps falling behind. If performance doesnt get better though; think I will start playing Mordhau for a fix until they do or CU comes out.

Its what happens when being personally invested in a character turns into just selecting what works.

Yeah, Sorcs are a pain in the butt. To make matters worse, they are fast as hell and can streak out of trouble with ease. They feel OP because Templars are so slow and have to rely on DOTs. Fighting a sorc feels like 1vXing.
