I had a week in hospital. Same sort of response time. Bleeding are you? surgery is in 25 hours.
Don't worry: Scott stopped the bleeding.

One thing I have noticed lately, over the past couple of weeks, is the 'Could not connect to game server' error popping up when logging a character out to the character select.

    Not sure if it's related.

    Hello community and ESO team.

I have been away for a few years now. I was there in Beta and even xferred to console when we could. I live in Australia and we left the last time due to the lag issues of the game from our area.

I have been back a few months now and i am really having alot of fun with all the new content ( bravo btw). But the lag feels even worse than the last time we were here.

I remember we used to ask back then when we would get a server this side. I can still see you lads are saying the same thing. But even if the oceanic was alot less busy than you would like. It would be a huge boon for us and would likely draw more back this side.

The lag spikes alone has been making life very very hard for us (death normally). But the few seconds of delay on average has just been a nightmare in the end game content.

PvP is still out of the question it seems as well.

I would glady donate or pay to help in any way to see a server our side.

    Regards
    One very tired Aussie :(

Thank you for the link Garlic. Abit of a shame, could you tell me why the pings seem higher than first year?.

I have been away for a long long time. Was something done that has caused further ping issues?.

They contracted a DDoS protection company called Akamai, but that 'protection' routes Australian traffic all over the world on its way to the game server.

A message from beyond the grave:

Once, I was a warrior who fought daedric princes. I learned how to anticipate the attacks of my enemies by learning not to stand in red circles. I then realized with horror that the evil entity known as Akamai had worked a foul magic on the land of Tamriel, a magic targeted only at those whose linage was from the land of Oceania. This evil spell allowed players the hope that they were safe, by allowing them to move out of the red circles of death, only to discover that this was an illusion, and that the game considered that they were still within the red circles. The devs, harking not from Oceania, were unable to see the problem, and so ignored their player base.
The question is this: which is more evil, the one who causes harm, or the ones who stand by and do nothing to help.

Seems like a lot. But its still only 3/10 of a second. In reality that's a short amount of time.

There’s a reason that numbers from 300 and up are in red with only one of three “signal strength” bars. The developers know how in the red a 300 ping is for gameplay.

Also pure ping lag and game lag are not always the same thing, although the former is a good indication of the latter.

You can have 300ms ping and things happening in game like you using a skill is 2-5 seconds delayed.

I play from Sweden using ExitLag and still have ~300 ping and seconds long skills delay at times (NA server).

I find it very strange compared to other games.

You guys that use Mudfish, what server in the US do you use to connect?

At times in prime time pvp, I am on 400plus ping(nearer 500) with a vpn that registers under 300 if I leave the campaign and go to pve land.

We all know skills dont go off at times but in prime time pvp is a laggy joke and not just for oceanics.

I get that we can just leave.....as the state of the game is so terrible in pvp (and for Oceanics in general) but I cant understand why zos cant say something. Even a small player base are paying customers that have been loyal for towards 5 years. Is business that good?

This game's online performance is a polished piece of turd/pig with lipstick that is a disgrace to the entire industry and embarrassingly (heavily so) has become a meme in the entire game community. So go figure.

I seriously suggest, no joke, that the game goes exclusive to the Texas region/in house only, since clearly some lucky neighbors to the "mega" server have playable pings and lag latency. The rest of the world can take their money Elsewhere rather than Elsweyr.

I don't know what these past updates have done, but my fps is dropping to the low 30's all the time now. My game is so jerky almost the entire time. Ping goes in the 400's almost constantly. I getting super mad now, I don't know how much longer I can keep playing like this.

They did tell us the reason why was because they think the server will be too empty and we won't like it.

I say the lag > other people any day plus considering when we play the amount i meet this side i doubt it would be a dead server. Most likely they just don't want to spend the money to help us.

But hey they have the numbers... maybe very few of us from this side play (i doubt it).

I mean, they may be correct about the numbers. The thing that gets me is they have been more than happy to massively advertise the game and all chapters in Australia, while knowing about the lag and playability issues. Happy to spend millions to sell us a sub-par product but unwilling to spend to make the game playable for us. It's borderline fraudulent (maybe even past borderline).

Doubt an Oceanic Server would alleviate the problem, you are still going to hit the Akamai hops and receive packet loss and high latency. Personally connect from Canada here, although a typical latency sits around 100ms it is far from consistent, usually fluctuating up to the 300ms - 400ms range and spiking between 2k - 10k.

You’ll find that a lot of us never wanted an Oceanic server. A lot of us knew that was unreasonable. Still no excuses for the absolutely disgraceful performance we have to endure. They promoted the game heavily down here and charged full price for it. The region is entitled to a working game and we are not getting it. So we’re not going to shut up until they address the issue and stop ignoring it.

    Edited for angry spelling mistakes.
