Oceanic Lag now 300-400 ms even with a vpn - was 250-300??

Hey guys

For starters - dont EVER let this thread go down beyond page 2. This is a priority issue and so far you're doing a good job of keeping it relevant because ZoS needs to give it attention.

As far as Im concerned, the lag right now is ridiculous. Little things from Maelstrom arena and even dueling in stormhaven is making subtle animation cancelling very difficult - which by the way I used to be able to do over a year ago (things like dodge rolling into vigour/rally are very rare now).

So when did all this start? It had to have been within the past year right (2018ish?). I don't remember it being this bad 2015-2017. I even remember some of 2018 being playable.

Unfortunately I feel this issue will never be fixed, given the blanket silence we have, to the person who thinks ZOS will fix this if/when they introduce DX12, do you still believe in Santa Claus and the Easter bunny ????

I just logged in for the first timw in months and JEBUS is the lag worse than ever. Four-five second delays for even mounting or handing in a writ, this is not playable at all how are we supposed to do any combat like that?

The last two days the lag in pvp (battlegrounds) has been unbearable. All the other players are bouncing across the screen instead of smoothly walking.
I can't believe its gotten this bad.

people who basically have the server in their house complain about the pvp lag imagine that but for an AUS perspective lmao 700 ping in cyro.....falling over dead before anything hits you, best feeling ever.

it is also hilarious the amount of times my core has had to wipe on vMoL HM on a definite clear, purely because 1 or more people have disconnected.

Im the humble OP of the this thread - sadly things haven't improved much but guess what?? Im on the PTS during the patch and the ping is perma 270!! i guess there is no Akemai on there ??

As I've said before, its amazing how Zenny responds when someone complains that some custome has pink stripes instead of blue, but when the game is unplayable - they wont touch it from 1000 miles away - well so much for a *community* - we are just annoying customers - and since fixing our ping issues wont make more money - well forget it.

The only time Zenny will interact with this thread is when they close it

I love this game but like most people it's just getting worse.

It's noticeable even in little things, like looting writ containers has a noticeable delay. It's getting hard to manage.

Used to be a steady 200-220, now 350+ with regular spikes, yet I have a better connection than ever. I play less and less. I still sub but am thinking about not renewing, which is sad. This is the only game I play really and half the time it's just frustrating. Every DLC increases ping.

I hope they do something but realistically, with no response from anyone it's makes us feel pretty worthless.

Another patch update with no comment on this issue. But I am glad that people trying to log on with deleted characters got their issues fixed... Seems like priorities are well sorted...

A ping of 220-240 is what I normally get for NZ to USA games.
A ping of 330-350 is what I normally get for NZ to EU games.

ESO is obviously an exception now with ~350ms Ping. It used to be ~240.

The only thing that is different is our routing through Akamai Hong Kong which is well documented here:

And for @Hiruda, we are not whining about high ping, we are advising ZOS about their reduction of service, to which they are denying responsibility according to my high level service ticket.

It's just sad how the lag has deteriorated and the game slowly but surely become almost unplayable. There's so much end game stuff I'll never be able to do because of it. @ZOS_GinaBruno seriously get this noticed by the powers that be.

Not letting this issue go to rest, especially since some players have chronicled screenshots as evidence of the deteriorating performance for Oceanic players.

We need a response as to whether this will be looked into or if we should start looking elsewhere towards other games that value their Oceanic community.

We do need a response but that would be so far out of character to be not worth investing any emotion in or hold any hope of appeasement.

I had a co-worker who recently got ESO and the first thing he said a few days later is "Whats with the lag? If I'd known I wouldn't have bought the game".
So my question is: is there a way to prevent ZOS from selling this game in oceanic regions where ping is so terrible without informing the buyer that the service performance is terrible?
Its clearly not supplying proper service if the ping is so high that it isn't even playable and requires 3rd party software like VPN to function. I got VPN when the game was "playable" before Nerfmire to get a "better" service but literally wouldn't play it without VPN if I didn't already have it. i recommended the game to people before Nerfmire but would tell them to stay the hell away now. Can't inform everyone and feel like this is anti-consumer actions being undertaken by ZOS.

Just an FYI, I recently moved to the UK from NZ.

In NZ I had a 220mbs connection, in the UK I have a 4mbs connection.

However, my ping has dropped from 350 to 180. (I play on the NA Server). This is definitely an Oceania issue and needs addressing by ZOS.

Look, I get that you created a game that you want to be as lively as possible.

We all pay the same subscription, but you need to own up to understanding that not all experiences of the game are equal. And that is is insulting to expect us to tolerate it.

As you have an Australian office, operating within our territory - there are certain standards that must at least be met to provide a quality service and continue trading. Different story if you didn't have an office here. But you do. I suggest you ask your Australian office what's implicated through the ACCC & TIO Ombudsman.

For all intent and purpose, the primary cause of disatisfaction for players is Akamai's routing through Europe to get to the North American server. How much more direct do you need that to be pointed out before you take action to address that?

As it stands, I will no longer be further insulted by through active subscription to your game.

We just have to learn to live with it. Ive been *** about it for years. But my ping only ever gets worse. Give it another couple years when mine is over 400 with a vpn and it will be time to thow in the towel. Hopefully a lag free Elder Scrolls 6 is closer by then.

Its fine if they can't afford servers or whatever. But they shouldn't be aggressively advertising the game (they can afford that somehow for a population for which they can't afford a server) which is well known to have connection issues within the forum community and they are simply playing blind and deaf to have plausible deniability. "Oh we didn't know the performance is really bad in Oceanic server, there's no way we could've known. So we sold the game there without informing the customer there is a problem. Don't look here!"

Yep, I've learned to live with it by just not getting involved with end game content anymore. Am finding I am spending more and more time in other games that actually have OCE servers. I just hope that whatever big MMORPG comes next has regionally instanced dungeons, trials and PvP. Couldn't care at all if the main zones are all in NA or wherever.

OK so I am based in UK, always been in NA(XB1), I run direct cable from router to xb1 on a fibre 100mb line.

Now I can quite confidently say that 1 in 5 BG games will be either - disconnected, cannot bar swap, cannot get off of mount in a flag game, stuck on WW bar when not in WW form! (that was a recent new 1), join the natch from load screen only to be falling from the sky-through the floor and then looking up at everything going on, it's like no-clipping mode on DooM only you have no control.

I am then told it is my fault, my isp, my connection - OK so i usually don't bother coming back once i get kicked for whatever random reason, I will go straight on to destiny 2 or something else for some pvp - whoooa look at my connection absolutely fine connecting to all these different people from around the world with no problems.

Come on guys do us a favour and stop lying to us, let's just get this sorted once and for all please, it's bloody painful considering the long commitment the majority of us have given you

No, we don't. What we have to do is get Community Managers like @ZOS_GinaBruno to pass this up the line often enough that somebody takes notice.
