My questions is, Why bother with a game where you have to use a 3rd party service to get mediocre results? Yes anything in the SEA region is going to get lag, but there is normal and then there is eso.
When (for the pc guys) there a heaps better mmos that out perform eso by years (performance and content) and all you have to do is 'log on'. No third party vpn needed

Trouble is we have played a game that was:
- still works on levels that are not competitive
- still has some of the best action combat available (when lag is reasonable)
- have learned to make do at semi competitive levels
(eg vma- I have flawless on 4 classes [3 stam] cleared all dlc hm on tank. cleared vBRP)
(can still pvp and be competitive somewhat except against good players who clearly have low latency)- friends in guilds
- having invested so much time in learning this game
- too stubborn
- not any game comparable to ESO
but your point is well made and I am actively hoping Ashes of Creation will continue to be the next great hope

Again,
I curious as to why you guys think that ZOS controls how your internet service provider routes your data?

Akami OC traffic is directed through China/Hong Kong/Netherlands not straight pipe to USA which causes extra ping and massive spikes 999+.
This was all explained and proof shown earlier in the thread with trace routes.
ZOS ignores it all.
GlorphNoldorin wrote: »But guild wars 2 has everything eso has, just polished and finished off. Not to mention the loads more content it offers aswell. But best of all, arenanet looks after its oceanic community and we can get a stable 180-220 ping even in a packed meta event (something else would know as it donts offer content like this). Along with zero maintenance (they know how to fun a server).
Just the console guys cant experience what a mmo should be and stuck with this thing called eso

I have tried Guild wars, the combat....for me just does not compare to ESO

Around 250ms from China with VPN, going up and down like crazy.
Funny thing is that if you ping the server via command you get stable 180ms. So the game adds 50-100ms not explained by travel distance.

ZOS uses Akami to scrub the packets. Akami routes asia through The Netherlands. Hence extra 100 ping.
This really needs fixing
