Personally I thought it was a cool harmless achievement associated with a difficult to get caveat (holding emp as the campaign closed) but I see why ZOS would remove it.

I don't like the change as I agree it was harmless and one of my buddies is perma-emp from Scourge. It's not a huge deal, but he seemed to take pride in that, so it's a shame to take it away IMO.

After seeing some of the toxicity that occurred during the last round of campaign closures, I can understand why they'd remove it. I don't have a horse in that race and don't really care, but I'd guess that was the reason.

Pretty sure there's one player that paid some decent amount of gold (seven figures) to get the perma-emp title from the Axe of Belharza campaign.

all im saying is i spent alot of time helping with the Perma emp in Haddy and getting my own in Xar. i think that it should just be implemented into the game. its the hardest title to get. there is only a handful of players who ever had it much less have it and still play. Its one of the cool things you can get from PvP

This. The crap that went on in the extra Midyear Mayhem campaigns really doesn't need to be repeated.

PvP was lively and active and competitive with people vying for those titles. There was a little drama, but I don’t recall anything toxic or crossing the line. I held emp myself in Kastav for just under 3 weeks after Midyear Mayhem ended before I gave up on the campaign being deleted. I may be out of the permaemp race, but I don’t consider the title a negative aspect of the game and support allowing the perma emps to keep it. It’s rare and a real challenge to acquire — something that this game and especially PvP lacks. I think they should leave it be and allow it to become a game feature tbh.

I'm okay with fixing a glitch that some players took advantage of. Minor, yeah, but players not benefitting from an exploit anymore sounds good to me.

The perma emp title never bothered me and I'm sure this is hard for those that went nuts to hold a closing campaign to get it but should of seen this coming eventually . There will always be complainers and they are technically correct as it was unintentional .

Sometimes unintentional things are assimilated into the game as fun, accidental features. Although no one is surprised that they’re fixing perma emp, it offered no combat advantage to players possessing it. Just a big challenge followed by a little bit of pride.

Pretty sure it was a bug that was not intended, so it makes sense that they're fixing it.

I understand if perma emp was a bug/not intended/etc... but I feel badly for those that earned those titles. IMO, it's a cool unique thing that didn't cause any harm, that the majority of perma emps worked hard to accomplish.

I'd personally suggest leaving the current perma emps be and just making it impossible to get from future campaign closures, if it's enough of an issue for ZOS to want to fix.

I know someone from my server who grinded the entire final week of one of the previous, weekly no CP campaigns basically just sprinting around wiping whatever he could find in order to get the perma emp title.

I'll be using his salt for my dinner tonight.

Honestly i am not mad about that. What has a begingin it so ends, just like our ruling time.

As it should be as it was implamented at the first time in the game. It is fair in a competative game like AVA to loose that title. It actualy gives a valeu of teh former emperor title, becasue we all know how hard was to even reach the Emp title. (I am talking about who earned it by competing in a legit way and not payed for it, like in now days happening).

EDIT: I am still wearing my Formal emperor title with proud. including teh coustume dyed with alied gold with ruby throne red, so my armor color is not that colorless, it gives more life into it

I mostly hang out in Auridon and people often whispering me how did i got my coustume, and so on. and why do i wear the Formal Emperor title. My aswer is always teh same: Because i have worked realy hard to achiev that, i putted as much effort and dedication, time, energy as my fellow emperors did.

And what was strange tehy both agreed on that point. And most of them said at the end of the conversation, that they are respecting me for that, and i desrevd that. And these words not come from me trust me, i am not that kind of person. They mostly even return to me to help them how they achiev that title and teh cosutume. And i gladly helping them to explain everything they need to know about how to achiev that. Including charatcer guides, gear steup, skill setup, skill setup, rotations, situation explaning, the stratige behind AVA and so on.

So i dont care who every say the Formal Emperor Title is worthless. They are utterly wrong in my opinion. Read my thought above about that subject.

The only 2 perma Emps I've seen were players who would struggle against an average player in a 1v1.

I'm glad their titles are gone, but that is probably more reflective of me being a little ***.

You contradict yourself. Why would you have the title that you're supposed to get by ACTIVELY participating in PvP, just because you spent *** of gold to buy it?

I mean, that goes for PvE guilds flipping dead campaigns for the basic emp achievement, trial carries, and anything else you can pay players to help you get in this game.

It takes a LOT of time and effort and politicking and playing PvP to obtain a perma emp title.

Won't miss the perma-emps, especially those trading outside the game to achieve it.

You don't get an achievement for killing a perma emp.

Animation cancelling was never a mistake, regardless of what you read here on the forums. Sometimes ZOS will describe some mechanic as "unintended" when they really mean that the controversy surrounding that mechanic is unintended, not the mechanic itself.

There is no possible way that the ZOS devs coded animation cancelling by accident! It is the natural result of how they decided to implement the combat system with as few cooldowns as possible. They knew exactly what they were doing. I think they were surprised by the backlash, however, mostly from old school MMO players who were used to long-assed cooldowns on every ability.

Edit to clarify, there are two achievements regarding killing an emp.
One - kill any emp of any campaign
Two - kill an emp of your home campaign

I've even gotten emp slayer in battlegrounds!

Two - kill an emp of your home campaign
