Naryu didn't switch species between the Chapter and main game.

Because otherwise new players aren't going to have any idea who he is when they meet him because they won't have met him yet--there's a little bit of wiggle room what with Meridia's abilities to mess with time, but that only works from a lore perspective not a new player perspective. (This is assuming they follow the same pattern as Morrowind with a 'new' introductory quest and quest events that are ambiguously placed in the timeline of course.)
Wasn't there the same issue with Naryu?
Well, we are going to see Velya and Razum-dar, that's pretty obvious after the heavy spoilers in Morrowind. Maybe Naryu will return and they have something to do with Darien? That would be amazing.

@SilverIce58 Check the datamine article. It says he comes back as an Auroran, which is to say he's going to be a Daedra now.
That's not something you can explain away with a few extra or removed lines of dialog, unlike Naryu's previous appearances.
Also, as @Ilsabet pointed out, there's the cliffhanger factor, and if someone plays Summerset Chapter BEFORE the Daggerfall Covenant plotline because they're a new player, Zeni would then have to explain how he went from being a Daedra to a human when he shows up in the vanilla content.
More likely he'll show up in a DLC, where they've previously been fine with advancing the plot slowly. Unless they don't take the same approach as they did with Morrowind and it isn't treated as a new game with a new prologue etc. (I'd personally prefer it if they didn't; it was clunky and missing several elements - Skyshards! - in the Morrowind tutorial, in addition to butchering aspects of the vanilla game storyline.) But I guess we'll see.
