This is the official feedback thread for the new homes and furnishings currently on the PTS. Specific feedback that the team is looking for includes the following:
  • Out of the three homes currently on the PTS, which was your favorite?
  • What was your favorite aspect of each home?
  • Which was your favorite new furnishing?
  • What do you wish to see from future homes and furnishings?
  • Do you have any other general feedback?

The Coldharbour estate is a great idea, and i love that it has lots of space, however as you are now intentionally releasing a blank canvas for people to build their own homes, could you also release a wider variety of building materials? Some very large things would be good so we can minimize the slots taken up buy building a house.

Coldharbour Surreal Estate is showing a gold-purchaseable window at this time (my character does not have this achievement:
    CdTAvIb.png?1

It's a big empty space with floor tiles and some dirt clumps/rocks/plant bits/branches. Despite only coming "unfurnished", it comes with 175 Conservatory furnishings in this iteration including: 55 boulders and large rocks, 8 giant trees (Withered trees), 28 saplings (withered and branches), 20 Shrub, Glowing Thistle, 22 Rocks, Coldharbour Cluster, 6 Trees, Petrified Ashen, and 36 Enchanted Lights (glowstalks, glowstalk patches of various sizes). It has a 700 item limit as other Notable homes do. The entrance portal is in Hollow City. There are platforms ringing the main platform that you can jump down onto and use as well, but you'd have to build a way to get back up to the top platform.

Yeeeeeah, the Coldharbour place is just kind of... silly with low item caps and limited building materials.

Abah's palace looks pretty cool and is the fav, but still just 700 items for a house so large is kind of iffy. (And it being crowns only is even more iffy since it'll likely be just as much if not more than the last few large homes)

    DBH is so edge-lordy I can't even.

...what new furnishings? There was hardly anything there lol Some bushes, rocks, very phallic-looking stalactite/mite rocks, more shrooms, and a bit of themed stuff for the Abah house.

I want a boat. And some smaller homes that don't cost 15k crowns. (or maybe can be bought with less than a million gold)

Raise item limits. For every house. All past, present, and future houses. Forever and ever plz. Doubled.

    Princely Dawnlight Pallace:

While beachfront property adds to the value of a home, slaughterfish that nibble the toes of your guests wading in shallow waters do not. This is how property liability lawsuits happen and then you lose your awesome palace in legal fees. Oh sure, lets let little timmy wade in the water, its safe. Wait how many toes did he have originally?

    JPwJthY.jpg
Here is a detailed description of the problem. That's some deep water.
    zD6tc6g.png

But in all seriousness, this brings up an important point about all housing in general. My interest, (read willingness to spend crowns) on a house STRICTLY depends on my freedom to decorate, transform and be as creative as possible. Invisible walls, inaccessible areas, and overly aggressive slaugherfish straight out of a SyFy TV special completely demotivate me to purchase.

While we are on the subject of Redguard style housing, Which is my favorite type: Can we please get a fix to the twin arches roof? Redguard housing is known for their flat roof style and all the NPCS get to chill out on their roof but we can't.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnAJBK-wsl8

I know your 12,000 Crown palaces are top priority right now but please, hold back on the marketing for a minute and look out for the little guy.
I want a boat. And some smaller homes that don't cost 15k crowns. (or maybe can be bought with less than a million gold).

Princely Dawnlight Palace is probably, in my humble opinion, the best out of all and i'm actully hard pressed to think of another house on live that I immediately fell in love with from the moment I crossed the threshold. It's a beautifully large house; very spacious even in the furnished preview . I'm assuming that it'll cost along the same lines as the other guild-sized homes?

The Erstwhile Sanctuary is surprisingly beautiful. Surprising cause I'd never seriously considered a cave as a home before but I can definitely see the RP appeal of it. I wish we could access the little lake that the cavern overlooks but it doesn't distract too much from the overall look, i think.

Coldharbour Surreal Estate, other than having a pretty clever name, fulfills a desire i've read hundreds of times in the forums and on reddit: an empty lot. There's nothing there so it's teeming with possibility and i'm sure the community will come up with some pretty interesting ways to use the space.

Overall, all of them look awesome but whoever created PDP outdid themselves.

The new houses all look very cool, and I'm glad to see both more gold-buyable houses and more variety in house types overall (I've wanted a Daedric demiplane as a possible house since Homestead launched). I think for the Coldharbour house, we will need more building blocks like walls, doors, and so on for it to be really viable for anyone but the most dedicated and skilled housing users, though. I'd also love to see more small and midsized houses get introduced occasionally, especially gold-buyable ones.

As far as new furnishings, I loved seeing a game board furnishing on Rolis Hlaalu, which is something I've wanted for a long time. That game board in the Homestead key art we sometimes get as a loading screen would be even better, but this one is really cool. I also like that old, rotated out stock on Rolis is being moved to his assistant, which is a nice touch (and am similarly glad Zanil Theran is getting his old stock to show up again occasionally, as I hated the buy-it-now-or-miss-it-forever style he had previously).

My biggest housing request, though, is a way to make it easier for people to visit non-primary residences. Adding secondary and/or tertiary residences would be wonderful. Allowing people to visit any house of mine would be the best.

Hmmm even with the Coldharbour Surreal Estate which is intended to be a blank slate, there is only one new "building material" furnishing and it's not even themed to the Estate:

You get a boat for getting the Master Angler title, You purchase it in Elden Root for 25k. Unless you mean a house boat, In which I would have to agree..That would be awesomeeeee!

I am totally buying that Princely Dawnlight Palacd, I saved some crowns from the recent sale to go towards a house, Looks like this one is it! I currently inhabit Hundings, But would happily move for this house! CANT WAIT!

Two new fountains, both Redguard themed, both Interactable to turn the water on or off. I am greatly disappointed the Imperial Fountain of the Bay did not receive the same treatment! #justiceforDelphinia

The Mosaic fountain is proper. The Pillar fountain is kind of meh because the water fountains do not drip down into the second tier of water, which looks bizarre.

    Simple, quick feedback:
    1. Coldharbor Estate: Probably will not buy.
I was looking forward to this estate, however without sufficient materials to build any kind of home from, Im left with makeshift rocks, tents, and whatever other scraps could suffice. Nice area, and its in the spirit of Coldharbor, but the emptiness of it doesnt justify whatever crown price it will be, and certainly not 1 million gold.

    2. The Erstwhile Sanctuary: Definitely will buy, furnished.
This sanctuary makes the current one look obsolete, though I see what the artists did with the color tones, shifting from the traditional DB Red hues to more blue'ish hues. Still, this place is magnificent given the concept, and other than the slightly nonsensical realization that the entire place would be saturated in mildew from all the water, its otherwise a perfect accommodation for a new and upcoming Speaker to set roots.

    3. The "Palace"
    This one's easy.
Lovely building, lotsa space, not enough slots.
Too many lights required to illuminate, unless every single light burns with Daedric Fire.

Nice job with the Sanctuary Z0$, though the addition of Dark Brotherhood Carpets and Banners, especially considering that one required an achievement and the other was Lux only, is a bit unsettling for those of us who obtained the prior.
Still, a gorgeous cave, and the first and only of its kind, so I cant complain there.

I would love to have the prices (crowns) in the home editor reduced to 1 like in the crown store. Everytime when a new major patch is going life on the PTR I need to setup my home again and again with mundus stones which costs 1000 crowns each + several target dummies to try out some new abilities and builds. It would also give us the option to buy more cosmetics and try them out. :)

    Cheers

Coldharbour - not my thing and felt WAY too big for the current furnishings limit.

Palace - loved it, but again it seems far too big given the current furnishings limit. If I had to pick 1 of the 3 to purchase it'd have to be this one. It's simply beautiful. Just wish you could access the private beach without ending up as slaughterfish food.

DB Cave - loved the waterfalls, water is a huge factor for me when it comes to homes, but as I already reside in Earthtear Cavern I don't need another cave.

Ok, so I've been super excited for many many months about the Coldharbour Estate, and I'm really disappointed. Fair enough they give us a 'blank canvas' to get creative with, but I've yet to find any new building material themed furnishings to get creative with. There are a few crown store options, but they far from fit the Coldharbour theme. For those wanting to build an actual 'house' or dwelling on the estate, i think it will be difficult to do so AND furnish it when done, due to the current furnishing limit on this place.

I'm currently rearranging the coldharbour boulders to make a cave like dwelling. But its such a large space, such a small limit... ugh. Much sad.

The Dawnlight Palace, while very beautiful, has several problems.

    1. Not enough item count for that HUGE place. Lighting it alone, because it is DARK even if you buy it furnished, will easily eat half that. Then what?
    2. Once again you've failed to give us access to ANY of the towers.
    3. There is not a single balcony accessible from inside the palace. I thought you figured out how much we LIKE having balconies when you made Linchal.
    4. Many of the beautiful outdoor views are ruined by walls that are too high to look over.
    5. Many places outside are inaccessible because of no stairs leading up to them and no doors inside leading out to them, even when there are places where there are "windows" that would be perfect for DOORS.
    6. Wonderful stairs leading right out to the sea with a harbor view full of ships and boats... but no ship or boat we can GET ON as part of the house area. :(

I think what bothers me most is that I have yet to see you make changes to a house based on the feedback from PTS beyond getting access to a couple of towers in the very first houses released. So I feel like you asking for feedback is a bit disingenuous.

Thanks for at least making the pool deep enough to swim in I guess.

Just gonna copy-paste my comments from the thread I created to give the issues more visibility (plus I added some stuff):

    Housing

    - The Coldharbor "house?" Great start to let people get creative with building things from scratch. The problem? You don't give us any tools to build with. No structures to play with. No walls, floors, roofs, windows etc. Do you expect people to build structures with cruddy, misshapen planks and blocks of concrete?
    - The 1 mil price tag is ridiculous considering there's no actual structure and we have yet to see any real structures in terms of furnishings to build up the place. (Walls, floors, roofs, windows, archways etc.)
    - The Coldharbor house is under the crown store as a "Staple" house, yet listed elsewhere (collection tab, UI description) as "Notable."
    - DB Sanctuary is a little underwhelming for my tastes, but I can see a lot of people who would dig it. (Including several in my stream) The map is handy, though misleading. The waterfall area gives you the illusion that you have access to it, but in reality, you just fall to your death.
    - Redguard Palace is ridiculous, in a good way. It's beautiful. But again, only 700 item count? You really need to look into that, and soon. Especially since this will likely be another crown flash sale where you will charge a ridiculous amount of money for it.
    - Raise furnishing count across the board.

    Furnishings

    - Several new furnishing items are low-rez and poor texture quality, namely all of the new Symbolic Decor and most of the Urns. If you're charging people real money for these items, they should be on par with everything else.
    - Who designed the Pergola, Festive Flowers item? It's so ugly. Not to mention, some of the textures overlap and create a blinking effect (leaves on top of the trellis). You're charging 1k crown for this item alone (which is about 10 real life USD). We deserve better than that.
    - Again, no actual structures to build from the ground up with?
    - Your crown store pricing has been ridiculous since housing was released, and the trend continues, so yes I AM going to complain about it. 1k crowns (approx $10 USD) for BUTTERFLIES?! Low-rez/poor quality chest for 400 crowns (approx. $4 USD)?! Do you realize that by setting prices as high as they are, you're turning off potential buyers? People will be willing to give you more money if they felt they got more bang for their buck, but by continuing the over-priced scam you have going on, you're turning off a lot of potential buyers.

None of the new homes appeal to me, but I'm still really happy to see them because I know a 'blank slate', a cavern (that's actually enclosed, not just an overhang) and a huge house with lots of separate rooms are 3 things players have been asking for since housing was announced. The only disappointment is it looks like 2/3 will be crown-store only and based on previous houses probably extremely expensive.

As for what I'd like from future homes...I don't know exactly. So far Mornoth Keep is my favourite, even though it's not at all what I expected to choose when housing was announced (closely followed by Ald Velothi Harbor House, and Autumn's Gate).

    But here's a few ideas:
    • A small/medium house in the Sumerset Isles. At the moment the only options are the smallest inn rooms and a very large house. A 4th house on Auridon is probably too much, but if more of Sumerset ever gets added I'd love a medium house option.
    • Something with a large, very lush green outside space, like Bouldertree Refuge, but with a more conventional style house. If I could drop Black Vine Villa into the grounds of Bouldertree it'd be perfect.
    • A small open space like a mini version of the Coldharbour house, but in a more conventional setting. Maybe a small, flat, grassy island somewhere?

It seems that the feedback they are mainly interested in is just levels of excitement so their marketing team can know how expensive they can push the houses and max out some sort of profit curve. Excitement is probably just a variable in a formula.

I would love to be proven wrong and have actually substantive changes happening on the PTS but I think at this point, ZOS should rename it to the Public Marketing Server.
