Ok the time is going to be 5pm est for tomorrow’s tournament. Last weekend’s 3pm tourney was at 6am aussie time, making it difficult for many of them to tune in. Hopefully 5pm works better for both sides of the world.

I have updated the OP with the results from yesterday's tournament! I'll update this post with the details for next week's as they come together.

Legend is over 250 active members currently, and growing at a comfortable pace. I'm not even actively recruiting anymore. People are coming to me. I love it. We're having a blast. The guild is shaping up to be something truly special. Who would have thought that soon-to-be 300 competitive PvPers could come together into such a fun community.

Keep your eyes out for new events coming up soon! We've got some fun ideas in the works.

@NightbladeMechanics Towards the end of the final duel there was a moment when you were standing inside the northern storm ulti, were you CC'd or was that on purpose and you just shielded through it - I couldn't see very well, and I was wondering

Congrats on the guild success so far, kena! Tbh ESO needs a fun but competitive duel community to flourish and I'm glad it's Legend picking up that banner again. I only wish I had more playing time to ask for a guild invite, but that wouldn't be fair to other players with more time per week than I do.

He was demonstrating tanking with resto ult. It was on purpose we were in discord.

Our duel gatherings are full of RP and trolling and laughs, some people come in troll builds, and everyone's just hanging out and chilling. It's pretty amazing to watch. I think this results in more people coming to duels and tournaments in open world builds instead of tryhard ***.

Yes, my Durok's build was originally an open world build, and I've played it in open world plenty.

Or maybe the NA dueling scene is just in a new infancy after being largely dead from Dark Brotherhood through now, and people just haven't put their tryhard cheese pants on yet. I'll do my best to see that it doesn't come to that, though.

This is so true. Sadly it's gotten to an "adapt or lose" loop environment, where if you don't play a custom duel build yourself then you stand no chance, and new players find that out the hard way.

That's also why I usually like to bash on duels from other platforms that claim they're the best or anything. They may be good, but when put against a fully minmaxed duel build (which I've honestly only seen on PC EU) played by a someone that literally only duels, none of them stand a chance.

It's sad that duels have come to this, they're simply not fun anymore, at least not on PC EU.

That’s unfair because of class balance issues. Some classes will outperform others under these rules.

But that already happens to an even greater degree, no? The most OP sets tend to favor one or more classes. There is a greater opportunity for skill to be the deciding factor if the sets are normalized.

Organizers could create archetypes for players to choose from and then balance the archetypes as necessary. To keep it simple, there could be 2 variations for each armor type. This is appealing to me, but it would be difficult to enforce.

A crafted armor/weapon only rule might be easy to enforce if there are any styles unused by viable sets. Until transmog, that is.

You can add, that on EU PC people still duel with shield breaker just stand there in Alik and change their gear against you... Don’t know how acceptable people see Knight slayer in duels, but I see it regularly.

To be honest, I don’t see shield breaker as unacceptable in duels against my magsorc - it is good training.

Our difference is cultural. We aren’t taking duels seriously enough for people to tryhard like that, and we all understand that no one wants to fight specialized dueling builds. I’ll specifically ban them out before I let our community devolve like that. I heard there was an EU dueling guild until Homestead patch which was fun and used open world builds, but that its GMs got banned, initiating your comminity’s spiral.

FYI the Durok’s hate bandwagon is misguided. In order to dampen its “cancer,” I’d have to ban out Reverb, Corrupting Pollen, Incap + vAS 2h, Cyrodiil’s Crest, and other high uptime defiles — none of which sacrifice an entire gear set worth of offensive or sustain bonuses for their debuffs. Befoul is op, but be careful not to tunnel vision outside of the core issue or more dangerous and common defile sources.

If Durok’s becomes more widespread and starts shutting out stamina, I’ll consider it. So far, I’m the only person who’s used it, and the only fights which I need it for are preventing stalemates against good heavy armor magplars. I have always and still prefer to have damage sets like Alch, Maiden, or Acuity + my Necro when fighting the rest of these guys. So far, the greater threats to stamina in our tournaments have been heavy undodgeable damage from Pelican’s magden and a few of those lightning Wall of Elements mDK builds.
