It's not necessarily because of stealth or because of proc sets. This game's mechanics allow you to boost damage to rather unreasonable levels using large %age modifiers (such as crouch bonus and Empower) and no softcaps allowing us to stack up 5000+ weapon damage. I made a rather boring ganking montage of me using Alchemist+Spriggan+1x Kena + 1x Kra'gh to gank... No proc sets just a lot of damage.

People think too much of a build and not the player lol. Most 'op' builds are just a standard build with a small change, such as engine in German's case, or a different jewellery set in a certain EU sorc's duelists case. Doesn't make them op, they just use a simple build and fit other parts in to fit their play style and are actual good players lol.
Yeah, CE had nothing to do with it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4X159ibyyiA
And when he got rid of CE? He was still considered the best sorc NA and he proved it. Before he was using CE he was also considered the best.
Funny that.
e: This isn't a thread about German anyway. He's banned now so get over it lmao.
I never said he was a bad player, just that he is a cheater. Being good at PvP and being a cheater are not exclusive things. Also, how do you know he got rid of CE? lol
One of the conditions of certain people getting unbanned was to get rid of CE. It's also not hard for ZOS to check if a computer has CE on it, just need consent from the person to check what they have got. Same way pvp guilds on different mmo's check for 'spies' by checking through peoples programs/chat logs etc. Although ZOS can do it legally, the guilds I talk about don't
Also, I doubt he or others were stupid enough to get CE again after being given a chance like that from ZOS.
Ah, I see. It's perfectly fine that he was so insecure in himself that he used the CE and ruined the very reason some people play this game (legit competition). Because ZoS is looking out. What a joke.
yet legit players like myself (makkir) get perma banned (without being given a "second chance") because we are accused of being gold sellers after sending raffle ticket gold to other players in mail who then turn and sell the gold on their own free whim.
GG
BTW Joy, not just CE..he also uses a mechanical keyboard and runs shield macros to apply everything with just 1 button stroke. Good player isnt just skill, imo, its all inclusive meaning sportsmanship as well.

Short macro hot keys can provide an advantage but how do you prove to ZOS someone is in fact using them ? We can't really and this is why it gets frustrating . We are off topic though and this has been debated into the ground already .

Actually it's quite easy for them to tell if you use macros.
ZOS does not and has not done log audits on people... if they did they could easily check the interaction of "keypresses" and the delays between ability uses and see obvious patterns.
Basically the macroer would have to be constantly updating timings between automated ability usage or start repeating "muscle memory bro" a 1000 times and thinking people would believe that it would be responsible for timings that are identical and down to the single millisecond range. Even with changing the delay between keypresses per session, long duration of identical delays would be obvious.

You said easy for ZOS . I don't know if you are aware but they seem to have a hard time even when people fly round in circles spamming meteors detecting things with out a video and a thread blowing up .
I think we'd all be very surprised if everything players have used over the last two years in ESO came to light. Who knows what kind of addons were cooked up and never made it public? I think some knew of CE, but overall the majority of the ESO community didn't know that was even possible in the game.I'm thankful the addon is out though. As with CE, I never cared about flying meteor spammers: I cared about those using it to subtly adjust their stuff to give them an effective but not visibly garish advantage. This addon is just proof of what others prob have been doing forever and I'm glad it's brought that to light.

Good macro softwares have a rgn delay function x to y ms on each "button press". There is no way for them to tell apart from detecting the software.
It only gets worse when the macro is not executed by software but from the the device itself.

Haha, I'm not really all that up to date on macro abuse. It's kind of laughable that it's like that...
Of course the real problem isn't the macros, it's that animation cancelling is so macro friendly and makes such a distinct difference in behavior.
Then again, if I were a pver... and a simple "rotation" that was mostly repetitive animation cancel after animation cancel... there would be no way I wouldn't use macros on a 10 minute boss fight. Cheating>Carpal tunnel.
But the bulk of "blame" for it being a problem is on ZOS.
(I might have summoned some macro deniers, for that I apologize).

In games with more robust anti-cheat tools and policies, we can see this view is very naive. Not only is the number of bans staggering -- showing how widespread cheating is -- but we can also see it is common for no-shades-of-grey cheaters to be banned multiple times without ever admitting fault.
We like to imagine cheaters as hiding in dark shadows away from public scrutiny, but in reality they tend to act exactly like the German Chiefs we know so well, bragging about their illegitimate accomplishments. This is probably why they cheat: for status.
This does relate to the topic at hand in the sense that ZOS is slow to respond with solutions or even a substantive comment from a dev or ZOS exec.

I have to agree with this. I can light weave, light/bash weave, and block cancel when needed and there are plenty of situations where I don't want to, such as making sure I use an Empower on a strong ability. If you end up using separate binds for your macros you are just complicating your setup, all for doing something that you can easily do without the complication.
There is a popular streamer who runs macros for light+ability weaves. I don't watch his stream, but I'd bet there are plenty of situations he gets himself into where he really didn't want that light attack firing off while he was trying to buff. Of course people call him out on the stream and he calls it "habit" so who knows.

The only thing questionable to me is the consistency of him firing off light attacks into the air when he's buffing and no enemies are nearby, just 100% of the time light attacking before every ability. I don't waste my effort doing that and I don't know anyone else who does either. I consistently light weave when it's appropriate to do so. Either way, maybe it is just a habit, but it absolutely looks like he's just got his 5 ability keys bound to macro keys that fire light > keybind for that particular keybind.
