I'm really concerned about gender restrictions in this game.

My English is not that great, but I'll try to explain my thoughts and concerns about this topic and why this actually really matters.
Some of you might not find this problem that important, but this is pretty big deal for some of us. I do apologize in advance if someone is offended by this post or if I'm repeating already existing thread.
It would be great if someone from ZeniMax read this. This post is actually mainly addressed to game developers.

It's very sad to see how some of the greatest achievements of the modern world is ignored in gaming communities. As a member of LGBTQ community, I'm very worried about the inability of reflecting our identities in the game. Especially since in-game characters can be our representatives in the virtual world. And the fact that someone can be who she/he/them really want to be only in the game (due to a really harsh real-world environment).
ZeniMax did a great job, at some point, allowing us to use "gender-specific" costumes without any actual gender specifics, but not in the right way, leaving everything else in same old gender binarism.
There is no gender restriction - gender is fluid; leaving something in the game like this is very offending.

I know that you might say that this is Tamriel, it's a different reality, there is lore behind it, but as long as this game involves social aspects and some sort of freedom (TES favourite "do whatever you want, and be whoever you want") and as long as this game is a creation of human thought - this can not be left in this state. Will there be any changes in the future about that? Are guys from Zos even aware of that?

Again, I'm really sorry for my English, it is very limiting me. There is so much else to say actually, but I'll just leave this simple wiki page here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gender

Gendered anything in video games is merely to increase the grind and loot table. They don't do it to be insensitive or restrictive, they do it cause they're [Snip]... you decide which is worse.

    Agreed OP.

Honestly, it would be a good idea if ZOS would allow that. The world of Tamriel is very open minded so it wouldn't exactly be out of place if people had access to the opposite gender's cosmetics and hair styles. It would actually be kinda fun to see what people would do with their chars.

Besides, it would really bring more value to the Style and Cosmetic packs from the Crown Store, since we'll be able to use all the items from them and not be limited to just our char's gender.

Take it from me, there are some very feminine hairstyles/styles/clothes on the PTS that males can wear and vice versa, too.

I don't want to trigger anybody with my next statement, and as a gay male myself I mean this with no harm intended for the LGBT community... but it's a game with an intended setting. There are same sex couples in the TES universe (and this game), there are men who dress as women, women who dress as men. Heck, Argonians get their gender decided for them when they sniff a chemically potent tree :P

The point I am trying to make is this, asking for a modern day notion to slide into a prepared and fixed fantasy setting is like going into a bikers bar and asking them all to drive away in a hybrid Prius. Just because it's happening outside our window, doesn't mean we -have- to make it happen in our games.

Edit: I feel it is appropriate to point out just how many cross gender clothing and cosmetics are already available. Whilst I can see the OP's intentions to post, I think it's important to notice just how much (in comparison to other MMOs) we have in regards to gender-free appearance options.

Or... it might be that they never made a version of it for female head models? Most hairstyles--even many that you'd think would be unisex--are universal, so the exclusion is most likely a technical one.

In my mind, the biggest reason that this happens is because it is double the work. They just don't let females slap on male stuff, or males slap on female stuff. If a "male" hair is used on a female, there has to be two versions of the hair, one for male and one for female. Same with many of the outfits, if both genders can wear them, there has to be a male and a female. If the beast races can wear it, there probably needs to be a male and female version of that, as well.

So, sometimes they do this work. Other times they don't. My advise is to take what you got and find a way to be happy. It isn't personal.

Heck, we can't even get them to always use a female body with female outfits.

Where in the wiki article does it say certain management style haircuts are for men only?

Are haircuts and hair styles based on chromosomes?

At least read an article and comprehend what it is saying before positing a link to it.

I find it offensive when I see male toons wearing female costumes.

But you don't see me making topics about it.

I just keep on playing and enjoying the game. The World can't and won't conform to your idea of perfection, either shrug the offense off like a champ or hide in your room like a chump.

Your point would make more sense if male and female characters in game had more than 0 differences in abilities. There is absolutely no difference in any ability a male character has vs a female character in any area. So why some random idea that males in ESO can get a "management" haircut and females cannot?

I'm not a feminist, but someone in Development just goofed, plain and simple and people are trying to project their own ideas about male-female differences in ability in a fantasy game where they do not exist anywhere else except a haircut.

What a terrible comparison. You may not make a topic about it but you still feel the need to mention it.

You are talking about not agreeing with someone's choice to wear off-gendered clothes. OP is bringing up the pointlessness of gendered hairstyles. Can't even comprehend how you thought those two things even relate. No where did they mention the need for others to conform to their ideas, merely the removal of pointless restrictions.
