Keep the current auction house or make a new one?

It's a cool idea, but other games that tried a similar system (Everquest, FFXIV 1.0) did it better with a centralized location for all the traders and a search feature to help you find what you were actually looking for.

(Even though FFXIV did it better, players hated the system so much that Square Enix completely scrapped it and added an auction house.)

The way it is in this game feel incomplete. I bet the majority of players (and I mean all players, not just forum goers) don't even use the guild traders. I know I don't.

I just wanted to say that there are a lot of choices that ZOS makes that make me feel like they've never played an MMO before and have no idea what went wrong for other games, and this is one of them.

I remember the EQ bazaar in Luclin - this is exactly how I would like an auction area, more like a market.
Sadly in reality it seldom works (if you remember the awful lag with hundreds of traders) you will see what I mean.

Swell memories of the Bazaar in New Tannan, the Plane of Knowledge! I set up shop there for hours. We weren't NPCs. We had to be logged into our characters, though many were AFK.

Now I am old and don't want to spend my play time spamming items for sale. I just want to give other players a chance to buy *** I don't need. I don't even want to make a "profit". I don't want to have to sign some commitment contract with a Trader Guild in order to do this.

I think those in favor of this system have their heads buried in their benefits and are not aware that the system is unaccessible to many of us.

I do see a compromise, though.

First: I want some kinda global-search feature, maybe an NPC, maybe the banker, maybe any Guild Trader. Maybe I can't buy the item there, maybe I have to travel, or maybe I have to pay a steeper commission. I would really love being able to search the markets, without having to travel the world. This could be really important for low-level characters.

Second: I should be able to sell through Guild Traders on their consignment. Each Guild could charge their own consignment fee. I could shop around, or do a global search, for different Guild Traders' commission fees. I just want to share some of the useful loot I've collected, instead of vendoring or destroying it, whether it's Rice or Perfect Roe.

I don't give a *** about in game economics. All you Day Traders and Doctors of Economics, I respect what you do, but I think it's a silly waste of time in an MMO. Of course, I've been known to spend all day redecorating my house or just gathering, so who am I to judge.

All you lore fans, I respect you all even more. I like the immersive feel of the Guild Traders too. But I think it's hypocritical to be so darned loyal to Guild Trading, but not loyal to the immersion-breaking mechanics of mounts or inventory or banks or armor or combat or maps or crafting or travel speeds... I love that ESO has made some steps to be more immersive. This is one I am not enjoying.

After a week where ZOS'es extended server down and lost my two guild traders and no other decent trading guilds recruiting. All of this has opened my eyes to how crap the current system is for the people outside of the circle and only serves a select few of the game and damns anyone else.

After going a week without sales and unable to progress, even after completing content, just because of a pretty shady trading system I have came to the terms of changing my opinion altogether. Yes people will be able to exploit a centerlized Auction House it would allow for many many more players to be able sell stuff without having to reliy on the trader alliances allowing you into their fold.

Prices would sky rocket with a single auction house and would be completely unacceptable to me.

Seriously cut it out...an auction house will just make ESO more like every other MMO out there if you do so, try to keep this game unique.

There is a reason that EVERY other MMO out there has an auction house - it does work.

The system we have now is horribly inefficient and impossible to search and find items. People fight for the best spots for a trader using a bidding system that does not accommodate the number of guilds in the game. I'm personally in 2 500 member "trading" guilds that lose their trader about once out of every three weekly bids simply because there are not enough spots to go around or money to throw at a decent spot.

When you throw over 300,000 gold to get a *** hole location and STILL lose it - something needs to be fixed. The current system only works for guilds that can HAMMER money and time at the system. The average Joe gets nowhere.

It been almost 5 hours now, going from trade to trade across the world of Tamriel looking for every piece of my set both armour and jewels, i'm still missing the damn waist because I can't see to find the place were I saw it cheaper than every other place.

explain to me how is it fun to spend about FIVE HOURS to look for X item/set in a MMORPG?

Centralizing it would make it sooooooo much easier for the buyer, especially if you are looking for something in particular.
Also, there are many easy ways to still have a benefit for individual guild houses at the same time.

In the end, centralizing would be better for both buyer and seller. Seller would make faster sales, and have a better reference for the going rate on particular items, the buyer would actually be able to find things quickly and much more conveniently.

Until @ZOS_GinaBruno can convince the Devs to make the guild stores more accessible and the current incarnation of the entire guild store system makes the game extremely counter-intuitive and frustrating I have been using this site; https://us.tamrieltradecentre.com/pc/Trade It's a game after all, this part of the game should be enjoyable for the sellers AND the buyers.
