The Impenetrable Trait & Item Sets

Please remove Training, Prosperous, Ornate, and Intricate traits from the game entirely.

There's really no reason why you couldn't simply have, for example, a Reinforced piece of armor that ALSO has a random secondary effect on it so it vendors for more gold or it deconstructs into more materials.
Really we do it without like, the musical instruments. This is the only musical: the mouth. And hopefully the brain attached to the mouth. Right? The brain, more important than the mouth, is the brain. The brain is much more important.

Adding Impen is a nice gesture and thinking about removing Training and Prosperous has me absolutely giddy. However, please understand this is a band aid solution. The best situation is one where EVERY trait is desirable so you don't even have to think about excluding any of them because players want them all at least in some situation. If you solve that core issue, then these other collateral issues all disappear.

We have a running gag among groups that so and so got another useless Prosperous item or just auto decon all these items that are little better than trash. We should be happy about the loot we get, not making jokes about the itemization team behind their backs.

    This is so very true

I'd say the verdict is in. Well, except for that one guy.

Should we start hoarding our keys?

And, can anyone help me understand, other than a sadistic streak in some devs, why these junk traits and underleveled vendor/decon trash pieces were included in end game loot tables in the first place?

Remove prosperous and training, add Impen.

    +1

We'll be reading all the comments in this thread. We didn't create a poll because we'd like to encourage feedback and discussion about this topic.

While its good to see that you are encouraging "Feedback AND Discussion" rather than just "Feedback", the issue at hand doesn't need any further discussion or feedback since the entire ESO community has been unanimously chanting for the removal of traits like training and prosperous from end game CP160 content loot tables, for quite some time now.

Training is only useful for crafted starter gears for efficiently leveling.
Prosperous is slightly/barely useful for getting an extra bit of gold.

Remove training and prosperous from ALL CP160 loot tables.
And ensure that the rest of the traits are available in all loot tables across the game (eg: Impen in trial and dungeon drops).

Even as a person who does not PvP much, Impenetrable needs to be added to the Valid Traits. Why was it ever left out?

Training is a Trait that is needed early in the game, or for grinding, it has no real value for people in PvP or chasing Trials times or doing any End Game content. Remove it from the Valid Traits for Gear Drops from Trials and Dungeons.

Prosperous? This trait has limited benefit in any situation, acquiring Gold is not an issue in this game through other means. This trait needs to be re-thought anyway. Remove this from the Valid Traits for any gear anywhere that is dropped.

    This.

The problem with this is that new players would only be able to research those traits from buying the item from someone else. Maybe they should remove them from any end game activity loot

    I'd pick:

    - Add Impenetrable as a valid Trait for all item sets in the game, regardless of where they drop

    - Remove Prosperous and Training as valid Traits from Trial item sets

It's VERY frustrating go for something hard as Veteran Sanctum Ophidia and leave the place with the worst traits in endgame gear.

Even if all your characters are magicka based and you get something for stamina, if at least with more desirable traits you can actually sell the item.

Remove Training and Prosperous from all non crafted obtainable sets. Quest loot and "junk" items not bound to a set should still drop these traits so players can deconstruct them.

Add impenetrable to all item sets in the game, regardless of how you obtain it.

Furthermore add in a crafting mechanic that allows Master crafters to alter traits of all gear, BoP or BoE (Similar to how WoW allowed other players to enchant armor you already wore) and add in new materials or use old materials in new ways to be the currency system of it.

Like nearly everyone here : remove prosperous and training from all endgame set item (all 160 cp one, at least), crafting is more than enough in order to have them. Add impen (and sturdy) to all sets including pve sets and high level gear. Please.

You can also greatly boost the loot chance of training and prosperous on low level item, it might be a good idea.

Yes remove training and prosperous... finally.

Also add impen to everything, there is a few sets from trials this patch and next patch that i'd like, it's basically the only thing thats going to make be bother with pve again. If it's not impen am not going to bother sadly.

    Thoughts?
    Thoughts:
    1) There are zero valid reasons for End-game gear that is based severely on RNG to drop with the Training trait. One could say, maybe someone who is max level (cp 160) wants to grind out the rest of those CP. That is why we leave the option to craft gear with the training trait in place. That way, the 0.01% of players who want to gimp themselves while grinding, can still do so with cp 160 gear, and the rest of us (99.99%) can stop pulling our hair out getting training Alkosh pieces...

    2) There are zero valid reasons for End-game gear that is based severely on RNG to drop with the Prosperous trait. Similar to the about, perhaps some folks with to make some gold while still wearing max level gear. Sure, that's fine. They can craft a solid 5 piece with all prosperous, no problemo.

    3) Similar to Trial drops, Prosperous and Training serve no purpose in Undaunted rewards, or cp 160 Vet. dungeon rewards. Limit these traits to sub-cp 160 scaled content.

    4) YES, so much YES: add impen to PVE loot tables across the board. PVP players are currently prevented from using all PVE sets because they don't come in impen. The benefit of wearing the set is completely negated by the fact that you can't get said sets with impen.

But impenetrable is useless in PVE, and since I don't PVP I don't want it any more than other useless ones.

No, it's not. It reduces armor degradation. Which is something that doesn't happen in PvP. So half the trait is applicable only in PvP, and half the trait is applicable only in PvE.

Granted, the PvE half is rather lackluster, but it's no worse than Prosperous.

So, yes, Impenetrable should definitely be introduced, if it means replacing Prosperous with it.

Also, I mostly PvE. I don't do much PvP, and as such, I really would like to be able to get my PvP gear from doing PvE, because that's what I'm good at. I have hundreds of Undaunted keys but not much AP. I would much rather get my PvP gear from doing what I'm good at than spending what little AP I have.

Adding Impenetrable to the PvE loot table is great for casual PvPers who don't have lots of AP to buy stuff from the weekly vendor.

Interesting, but I works also suggest removing Prosperous and Training from drops in dungeons set to max CP ranks. At the very least, undaunted monster sets.

    Some thoughts.

Prosperous and training should be removed from all end game loot tables, and by this I include monster helms, monster shoulders, trial gear, dungeon, gear drops, etc. The reason behind this, is that anyone who is really working to get a certain helmet, or a certain set (ie: Scathing Mage, Spell Power Cure, any trial set), is generally a) at CP cap or near it, and b) min/maxing their gear. The loot table has become so diluted with unusable traits for anyone who is end game, both PvE and PvP, that it is (or at least feels) next to impossible to get a set in the trait that you want. Some sets (exampled above) were hard enough to complete in a desirable trait (infused/divines), and now it's next to impossible for someone who can't spend 8+ hours a day playing the game. Nobody who does this content on the regular in order to obtain a set for a build wants any of these traits. Witness this entire forum post everybody wanting these traits removed not just from trials, but all end game PvE content. I am sure that I am not the only person who has simply stopped picking these items up. Additionally, most of us are well past the cap, or at least at the CP, which per the PTS 2.5.0 patch notes will be raised by such a small amount, that there is no possible use for this stuff even to get more CP, as we are generally at cap, and at the next project CP cap.

On the subject of Impen, this should never have been removed, and should be added as a regular trait. This would simply create so much more build diversity in Cyrodiil. Especially in this meta, you are completely slaughtered without either a)high crit resistance or b) shields. Impen means the difference between a 15k incap, and a 7 k incap.

The other one I've seen come up a couple times in this post, is vMA gear. These weapons should only be in sharpened, precise, nirnhoned, defending, and charged/powered for the resto. Anyone who is getting these sets, and taking the time to farm maelstrom really does not want any of the other traits (decisive, etc.) This probably won't happen, but I just want to throw it out there.

Perfect scenario: Have a mechanism to allow us to change the traits

Good scenario: Intelligent trait drops EG: Light armor = Infused/divines, Heavy Armor = Reinforced/Nirnhoned/Sturdy/Infused , Offensive weapons = Sharpened/Nirn/Precise etc

Ok Scenario: Remove Prosperous & Training from ALL cp160 loot tables (It useless for all dropped sets on end game gear. The tiny minority will be fine with these traits on crafted sets if they so wish). And ADD Impenetrable to all loot tables.

No longer acceptable: The current situation... everybody grinding until their eyes bleed only to be 'rewarded' by a system clearly heavily weighted to drop traits that are useless and non-rewarding to the effort they have put in.

How about making all the sets in game, craft-able?

If ZOS wants to still have a drop system for doing certain instances, then have the drop be account bound and let a crafter de-constuct the piece to learn the rec on how to make it. ZOS could also tie this into the upcoming housing system as the crafting stations required for de-constructed items would be the 1 in your own house.

Then the trait will be up to players and more player crafting could not hurt in a player-made economy. Right now, the economy almost stops when it comes to end-game in favor of dropped items.

And I wouldn't really call it "longstanding". Before the Dark Brotherhood update, Impen dropped on Monster heads from dungeons, from Monster shoulders in the Undaunted chests, and in the Sanctum sets.

These three sources of Impenetrable drops in PvE were recently removed in the Dark Brotherhood update. We'd like to see this recent regression undone.
