When Dark Brotherhood Patch hit, I was very frustrated and dismayed with my sorcerer (like pretty much everyone else). But I've always played my sorc through thick and thin and after a lot of testing and tweaking it's finally back to where I'm able to have fun with it and get kills. Enjoy.

But make no mistake... Sorcs did get hammered ...HARD... and not by merely just a shield nerf... but a collection of various things.
overall sorcs got weaker while our opponents got stronger.

That's an interesting build, it uses bound aegis and Mage light to push Magicka to 46K or so. isn't that four slots though? And what about enemy builds that require more pressure? There's no spammable.

I am staying on my sorc as well. And good job staying true to your character. And not trying to be like a troll or mean or whatever, but how does this show they are not dead, you fought a bunch of people who were much lower champ point than you and just mine camped and prayed for frags, I mean you had to fast forward that last fight cause it took so long. A fight that before I am sure you would have won much faster. This just shows that sorcs burst combo is dead, sorc defense is now MINE camping and we have to pray for frags. From what we were to this, yea I would say sorcs are dead. I switched a long time ago before DB to pet sorcs for pvp and have not looked back. But this is really depressing lol. But good video and keep it up

Wrong. My DPS/burst is actually even higher this patch, it's just the 6 sec shields, clunky game, no Dawnbreaker that has taken the most getting used to. If you run a pet build you must be a PvE'r, nothing wrong with that! This isn't timed Sanctum Ophidia, in actual dynamic settings like open world PvP 3 minute duels are very common between evenly matched individuals, and I've seen duels go even longer from 5 to even 10 minutes. Sorry my you don't like my build, but hey it works for me! Cheers.

49,222 on my DPS bar, and inner light isn't a toggle anymore so that's 3 spots. Hefty price to pay but hey can't aruge with the results :-p

ummm.... u didn't watch any of the videos I linked? PVP is the only place pets can actually be. and for that...you have to build into them. sorry but I take the line of " If you run a pet build you must be a PvE'r" to great offense. If anything the Meta sorc is in a far more rough situation then the pet sorc one when it comes to pvp. Meta sorc builds like your own can't handle dks, my build eats dks' alive, and just about any other meta build as well. it only reaches issues when you start getting into the elites and the most outlandish niche builds there are.

Arena's need to happen like right now x.x so I can show you. but seriously... my above links in my post, I get into similar battles as you and fight some of the toughest people in the game.

@NativeJoe I'll be honest I've got a mag sorc like every other mag sorc. Crushing shock, curse, frags etc. I dislike it so I haven't played it for months. Been levelling alts in prep for DB.

Anyway I always assumed pets in pvp meant instant death to the unsuspecting noob. I haven't seen any one using pets and actually killing people. Do you have a build vid? If not mind sharing your armour sets, enchants etc. Please?

Wrong it is lower lol. Pets are only really viable in PvP. You seem to only play cookie cutter, and thus your knowledge of the class may be limitied, Think outside the box try pets lol. I never said I dont like your build or it is not viable, ofcourse it is cookie cutter was always viable, just not as good as it use to be, but you are saying SORCS ARE NOT DEAD!!! then posting a video of nothing spectacular, just a weaker version of the sorc meta before DB. A much weaker version, shield stack mine camp and pray for frags lol, And nothing is wrong with that. But if you are gonna say that it is better now, after having lost both Dawnbreaker and Det and Curse not benefiting from thuam then to you sir or madam I must say LOL!

The first time i pvped in DB with 6s shields i got 17k heavy attack + 12k suprise attack on 25700 health with 2100 impen. Never logged back in.

It´s just i don´t want to after having invested 5 months to actually complete my sorc gear for a non cookie cutter build (thanks zos for rgn drops from maelstrom again) to have that effort completely demolished by the DB changes.

@cpuScientist yea I know it's a killer, I watched the clips. I know the sets but I don't want to go wasting mats using the wrong enchants, traits etc. All the pet ppl on console are literally free ap hence why I'd like to know the specifics before jumping in.

definitely not my type of build:
- in IC you're using the 10k tv stone set, right? I don't want to rely on that
- the only opponent outside of IC is a mediocre dk as far as i can see
- how does it perform in bigger fights? i have my doubts here.

I personally think it's a rather boring build, but unfortunately it is what sorcs have become... >_< (and yes, pet build is even worse >_<)

I watched the videos, it was the Daedroth that really cinched that build and wrecked your opponents. That almost makes me want to put that monster set together, it was pretty amazing.

I just can't give up that many slots for 49K. There's too much useful *** to get rid of.

I can't pick three things (hell not even one) that I want to get rid of there. I usually use lightning form and surge on the back bar, then jump there to refresh defensive rune, mines, heal, etc.

I keep radiant Mage light on the overload bar, and usually walk around with that to hunt nightblades.


Overload: walk around the map with this, Rune up.

2 piece heavy infernal , medium should, heavy head.
4 piece heavy morkuldin 1xlight, ur choice
Enchants are all magicka.
Staves are nirnhoned for a reason. x1 resto x1 ice staff
enchants... pick urself, I mostly use poisons now because they're more interesting. but if u want bigger booms enchants are the way to go.
arcane will power rings obviously. +spell power enchants. if u watch my videos you'll notice I got like negative regen
So... Heavy restoration attacks, poisons to make your opponents skills cost more. and the constitution passive should keep you topped off... another sugguestion if you don't mind slotting OL (most sorcs in high end pvp loath the skill) and get an extra bar for steak and a spammable dps for dealing with super tanky super powerful builds like WWs

Other suggestions... I'd look into winterborn + spectre for a cc sustain build. which plays alot like meta sorcs if ur not quite ready to make the leap away from it.


And if you wanted to goo off the deep end and Go for something REALLY wierd you could try imperial health staccking sorc ...

I've done some testing with it...and it is nearly unkillable

Oh i hope this did not come of as offensive.
I did not want to devalue your achievement of having found a vaible build to play your sorc.

I´m just personally bitter because the way i´ve played no longer works due to the changes to surge and shields.

We took a huge nerf while others took boosts. Our "AMAZING" burst was really based on 2 skills that are no longer viable, Inevitable and Dawnbreaker. And the other part of that was curse which is no longer a dot, so no more boosting it by 25% and is purgeable, along with frags which is easily dodgeable. We could use that or OL, which is dodgeable and reflect able. And finally mine camping which if they are ranged will do us no good and only works on melee, but they usually just cast a Vigor then run in and it doesn't matter lol. We are so easily countered, and in such a hole. But LIKE op I still play mine because it's my favorite class and I have invested so much into the guy. But we really need a shakeup next update. Also lol not hating, just pointing out facts

Well..... at least I know to target Mag Sorcs more often next patch! I've said they would become weak and unfun many times, but I didn't know it was actually this bad!

unfortunately u cant play pet sorcs on console, there in so command like /petattack, u have no chance to control ur pets...

thats again limits this class on console it isnt like the "cursed" target will get attacked by all your pets, or? so if u are in a 1vx ur pets run random around if u change target etc, it really sucks

I don't play console so that's not my problem. But I have been asking ZOS to do this so much. To not be able to micro manage pets makes them very useless. That's the point of playing a summoner, you have to be able to micromanage. It's a true necessity. It's appalling that that's yet to be implemented. I sincerely hope that it is next patch. And just attacking who you are attacking might be a start, but it limits them still, need full control. @ZOS_JessicaFolsom @ZOS_GinaBruno @Wrobel Is there any plans to make pets commanable on consoles? It is really significantly holding back the class for them?

While I admit that sorcs have been nerfed too much , I still think that good players can make it work. If it's worth the effort, that's another issue. Anyway , I liked the video and the soundtrack , Sepultura is amazing.

Mine camping doesn't work in pvp when a dk or nb can spam multiple stunning gap closers on you that kill you in less than a second. And they aren't even stunned by your mines.

There's no way to keep up defense against these guys and damage them. I can only dodge a few of these attacks before I run out of stamina.

It's really pathetic.
