dissecting my Breton Sorcerer (champion/attribute points suggestions)

Kreetar

I would like to make my v9 Breton Sorcerer the best dps that she can be.
she uses destruction staff, Crystal Fragments, Force Pulse IV, Shock Ring IV, Twilight Matriarch IV and Dark Deal IV.
(I don't know if that information was necessary but I put it anyway).

this could be time-consuming, so I'll thank anyone in advance who actually reads this over and provides suggestions.

The Warrior: 129/167
The Mage: 129/167
The Thief: 129/167

attribute points are split up like this:
- Magicka: 38
- Health: 12
- Stamina: 7

where should these Champion Points be going in order to make the most useful DPS? I'm all about the damage with her.
should I tweak my attribute points as well?

any help is greatly appreciated!

As a sorcerer, personally I put all attribute points into Magicka, you don't need such a high health as a sorcerer because you have the ability 'Hardened Ward' this gives you a huge damage shield so aslong as you keep this shield active all the time having a low health isn't an issue. As a Magicka sorc we'll only be using Magicka, so I don't think it's necessary to put into stamina as you'll only be using the stamina to dodge roll and cc break.

Annulent is also a great damage shield available to everyone, in the light armor tree, but this only gives you a shield against Magic damage (but is getting a change in the DB update to shield all damage)

On my sorc, my champion points are spec 'd into:

    The Mage
Elemental Expert - 100 (this makes your damage higher)
Elfborn - However many you have left

    The Warrior
Bastion - 100 (makes our shields stronger)
The rest into whatever you feel will benefit you the most.

    The Thief
Arcanist - 100 (Boost Magicka recovery)
Magician - what you have left (reduces spell cost)

As for ability set up that depends if you're player PvE or PvP also what armor do you wear?

thanks so much for this! I have to start using one of the spell armors--which one do you suggest? Bound Armor or Conjured Ward? I obviously didn't touch these much and now I have to begin slotting and using them. as for actual armor, I use light armor--anything magicka-geared that I can find. :hushed:

Bound armor isn't a damage shield. Use conjured ward and then morph it into hardened ward, you'll survive ALOT easier.

And as for armor you want to get an armor set I recommend x5 Julianos and x3 Magnus this will give you a lot of benefit in terms of Magicka, recovery and spell damage.

Do you play PvE or PvP ? That will dictate which abilities you should be slotting?

Also, I don't mind making you some armor I have a lot of spair void cloth, but I'm on the EU server Xbox one.

I read this so late. thanks for the reply and the offer (I'm NA, PC :disappointed: ). this is going to sound like another stupid question, but how does one...acquire Julianos/Magnus? I see people in the zonechat asking a lot if anyone can craft those, but...(and yet another stupid question) where in the heck do they come from? I cannot recall stumbling upon a Julianos *anything*.

also, you were right about Hardened Ward--it's a literal life-saver. however, I have to be hyper aware of when it will wear off because I die very easily. I winged it and put all of my attribute points into magicka. and my 131 Champion Points in each are probably not exactly where they should be, so if someone is reading this per chance, could you please suggest how I:

1.) distribute my attribute points. 61 in Magicka, 0 in Health and 0 in Stamina is what I have no.
2.) distribute my Champion Points most effectively. I would love to be a useful DPS.

All magicka attributes. CP is most important in magicka cost reduction, Bastion and magicka regen. Which points go into which damage stars really depends on your rotation, but you will learn heavily on elemental expert.

Most sorcs run blue health/magicka food.

Julianos and Magnus are both crafted armor sets; they don't drop in loot. Players who have done the necessarily leveling, research, etc. can craft them.

If you are on PC NA, I can craft them for you.

Im trying to get my Breton Sorcerer in the same mould, so Im looking here for tips as well.

Currently at level 34, and all my points are in magika.

I run Destro staff (Ice), with Twilight matriarch and volatile Failure (I play mostly PvE so need the tank really). I currently have boundless storm - until I get to deadric 42 and can get ward, along with Destructive Clench (I Like how I make most enemies immovable, though I have considered crushing shock instead) and Liquid Lightning on my main bar.

My back-up WAS DW, but is now Reso staff. Here I run the same twilight, familiar along with Mutagen, crystal fragments and Endless Fury.

I feel that gives a balance between shields, healing, AOE, Damage and finish.

I run Overload as mu ultimate, as it gives me a 3rd bar. I still run twilight, familure and boundless storm (again - will be replaced by Ward), as well as Endless Fury and Volocious Curse (as al alternate damage - but it also helps level summoning so I can get to ward faster).

So - what is right, what should I ditch, what should I add. I know playing PvP I wont need the familure - so I can replace that with something else on all 3 bars.

well, it looks like you're looking for a pve setup. it's a while ago i was using my sorc in pve (lately running pve with my templar, besides i mostly play pvp).

anyway, i few things on what i was using (if i remember it right, might be wrong in a few points as it is a while ago and things might have change and btw. they likely will work different with the next dlc).

The setup i try to describe worked for vwgt (50+ successful runs), but there should be better builds:

i didn't use any pets at all if i remember correctly (if you want to solo things, your shields should be enough).

    power surge: +spell dmg
    impuls: aoe damage
    (thundering presence)
    lightning flood
    mages wrath: execute phase
    crystal frags
hardened ward: (well, if you stay in a vwgt vet group and the mobs aren't tanked you will receive a lot of damage, keep shields up (costs dps of course)).
crushing shock: to interrupt healers (note: again a dps loss)
inner light: more magicka (more dps)

    ulti overload ("high" dps)

all points to magicka: more dps

lightning destro staff for aoe: chance to inflict additional damage
dw for single target / overload: more dps as dw gives more spell damage

champion points (depends on if and how you are using shields):
(unfortunately, i have no idea how the trees are called and i'm not going to google it):
green tree: +magicka regen / +magicka cost reduction
red: bastion (better shields, if you are using them), otherwise whatever you think fits best
blue: +crit damage, increases overall dps in pve, +elemental/magical damage

mundus: +crit (at least i think so).

Send me a message in game to @brookus. I need to know if you are PvP or PvE focused, what your preferred style(s) are, and what combination of resto, destro or which kind(s) and/or dual wield you are using. I'll just want the tempers and style mats if you want anything exotic; no worries about void mats although I'll be happy to take them off your hands.

Hmmm... how many CP do you have? If you are at/near CP160 it might be best to wait until Monday for your new gear.

thank you! I can provide those materials when the time comes. you had a point in mentioning that I should maybe wait until I'm closer to 160 Champion Points. I'm currently at 132 with Warrior, 131 with Thief and 131 with Mage. I'll message you in-game when I'm closer to being ready. thanks again!

Coming in late but YEAH... when i just read the first post i went "wait until Tuesday!!!"

    So much will change.

At V9 you are looking at an instant +22cp, +8 att pts and +8 skill pts and moving up to v16/cp160 gear possible.

Also, sorc gets a LOT of changes come Tuesday with some promise i think of temporary cheap respec costs.

So, definitely no rework before then unless its to experience up a skill or something.

good timing tho on the questions.
