8 is a good group number because its enough to wipe zergs if properly played, Anything past that and you're just zerging for the sake of zerging..plus if you plan on releasing any type of PVP video, anything past 8 is really an unwatchable mess...

Like for example, the video posted in this thread...Its completely unwatchable....

In fact.... There is zero difference between what was in that video and this video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3JrTxy6HxpA

According to the pvp dev:
Undefended, meaning just NPCs are there, a Keep was designed for 12-18 people to take over a period of about 10-12 minutes from first Siege down to last flag flipped. A Keep can house a lot more than that for battles between larger groups though.

Resources were for small groups, 2-4 players, and maybe 5 minutes at most.

So, Cyrodiil was designed for zergs, and all of these arguments about the magic number being 7 (we will stop the addiction to saying 8, so help me) are laughable.

Edit:

It's the equivalent of a soccer player stepping onto a football field and telling Peyton Manning that he isn't skilled because he uses his hands. Cyrodiil was not designed for the 7 man, it's beyond obvious. While you can still play and function in such a way, telling everyone else that's playing football they're bad and unskilled because you're trying to play soccer is ridonkulous.

Considering 8 people can take a undefended keep in this game in less then 5 minutes....I'm not sure where you're going with this.

In fact I'm pretty sure...if I was left to my own devices..I could easily solo a keep as long as no one interfered.

Also i'm not even sure why you brought this up in the first place, It had virtually nothing to do with my post in the first place.

but don't expect the rest of us to start playing soccer when we're already clearly playing football.

If only you could be penalized for having too many men on the field!

. <--- there's the point. You missed it.

Clearly you're missing the bigger picture here - 7 is the new 8, or hadn't you heard? Anyone that is currently running with 8 in a group will need to jettison someone (preferably a sorc) into the pug abyss lest the group be called a zerg.

The point was that the game is designed around mid-large sized groups and everyone that keeps spouting this nonsense of arbitrary group sizes being magic numbers such that anything over magic number 7 automatically negates all skill is clearly trying to play a different game than ESO. See quoted post from dev, see the description of cyrodiil on the main page, see all of the mechanics that clearly show the zone was meant to be a mass pvp slaughterfest and not perfectly balanced 7v7 fights, then feel free to take your (soccer) ball and go home. The majority of people who spout this ridiculous 7 man crap are usually surrounded by friendly pugs during fights, so not only is it ridiculous, and off topic for the thread, but it's a continuation of an unhealthy trend where people so focused on their egos try to drive down the artificial 'zerg' group size lower and lower so that their skill is never questioned, and if they do die, well - they were zerged down by that group of 8 who didn't get the jettison memo! You're welcome to play solo, in a group of 2, or 7, or whatever - but don't expect the rest of us to start playing soccer when we're already clearly playing football.

Again you're claiming the game is designed around Mid-Large scale sized groups based on a quote from a Dev that bares no actual reality to how the game actually is. You can take a keep in under 5 minutes with 8 people.... You could actually solo a keep if its undefended... Clearly using that as a means of saying "hey only zergs should be in this game because reasons" is just silly.

Don't even get me started on how you had another game that the said Dev worked on that had 8v8/smalls mans/and zergs and had far harder keeps to take...a game where this game is virtually copying most of its RVR mechanics from...

So in the end saying Cyrodiil is designed for just zergs fighting zergs is silly at best... But then again you know this..You're just upset we're all laughing at you.

My two cents: all of you need to grow the *** up.

I have a lot of friends in VE, and you're obviously one of the top guilds in the game right now, but the way you've all been acting recently is a complete ****ing joke. From what I understand, this all started because of Daniel and co. making completely ridiculous claims about you guys being spies and AFKing in keeps to clog queues, and other stupid *** that nobody with a brain would believe. We dealt with a lot of the same stuff when I was in DiE after we switched to red, and we did the sensible thing and ignored them, instead of starting some stupid ***-measuring contest on the forums.

Regardless of who said what or how this started, instead of taking the high road you decided to go red for a night, completely ruin PvP for the rest of the map, and then post a video that accomplishes nothing other than flexing your e-peen, all while congratulating yourselves and claiming to be the best guild in the game because you did something that the good guilds on other factions do multiple times a night, wipe Daniel's zerg.
Hardly, I'm not upset, I just feel an overwhelming sense of pity for the crowd that can't wrap their head around the fact that cyrodiil is meant for groups larger than the size they want to run. Clearly you want a game like GW2 where there is open wvw pvp on a mass scale, and a separate venue for structured fights between set numbers of players. The absence of a similar separate venue in ESO is not the players fault, yet that concept seems to be lost on you and others.

The next time you can go solo an emp keep on a competitive campaign during primetime, let me know and we can continue the discussion. Someone just posted a video of themselves solo'ing HRC - but obviously the trial was designed for 12 players and how the trial should be played a majority of the time. Would you start calling the other 11 people in trial groups zergling baddies because someone is capable of solo'ing the trial? No? Then hopefully you see the hypocrisy and ridiculousness when the same is applied to Cyrodiil. The solo player can solo the trial as much as they want, just like the solo and small groups can pvp as much as they want. But when the solo player starts insisting that trial groups stop at 1 person because they feel like their ego is in a safe spot by doing so, that's when the argument becomes absurd. If the connection isn't obvious to you, when the solo player and small group players start insisting everyone else in pvp plays the same way they do, even when the majority of players play in pvp the way it was designed, that's when the argument becomes absurd. If everyone started playing in groups of 7 in pvp, the same crowd would start saying something ridiculous like anyone running in a group over 4 is zerging and has no skill. It's an argument that just can't be won and is pointless to even have.

This is the reason VE went red for a night. Even with all that was sad and done this guy doesn't get it. Getting ap is not the name of the game you fool. And frankly 150k on busy friday night for a "full" raid leader is kinda sad. DC would be better without your constant pedantic self absorbed borderline nero narcissist leadership.

I plead with those that throw up "Chuck" in zone not to lower your honor by running with a such a narrowminded buffoon. Better yourselves and find leadership else where.

Can we not turn this thread into yet another large group vs small man zerging thread?
I feel like we've had enough of those.

Everyone just play how you want to play, and accept the benefits and the drawbacks of your chosen playstyle.
Max group size is 24. If you want to run 24, do it, it's great to be part of an active, thriving team working together towards common goals, but as a courtesy to the entire server, please god avoid stacking with other groups.
If you prefer small man, go for it, your individual contributions will matter more, and you can run a more diverse build, but you'll be less self sufficient than larger groups, and don't get salty if you get beat by someone with more people.
If you like to solo, great, I enjoy those 1vX videos. So exciting! But again, no whining if you die alone.
If you like to run multiple raids, please stop.
The line has to be drawn somewhere, we could debate it forever, and it feels like we have been, but for simplicity's sake, let's just leave it where ZoS drew it.
24 is the number and the number is 24.
25 is right out!

I totally endorse this, while I feel like we had to go red to fight them, I totally think the drama about it needs to stop, we've both posted videos, there's no point arguing over this *** anymore. You're my new hero. Word of warning though... they don't like to be told to grow up XD

Well, to be fair, no one likes it when a person jumps into the middle of a disagreement they are not a part of and know little to nothing about, and patronizingly tells the participants, "OMG! Grow up! This is a video game! Do you guys really have nothing better to do then bash each other on a forum?"

You're not their mother, a circumstance which, I am sure, all parties involved are grateful for, and the discussion had actually been quite civil up to that point. I think Steve was quite polite about it, all he said is that it isn't your fight.

I read somewhere that maturity is realizing how few things actually require your input, maybe they're not the only ones with some growing up to do?

And, to adress the main stay of your point, we didn't simply decide to go red for a night, Daniel directly challenged us to do it. If you have a good PvP guid with the capability, why not respond to a guild challenge? If you don't find the prospect intriguing or exciting than why are you even in a competitive Pvp guild?

Daniel challenged, lost, and now things go back to the way they were. Done. I find it very amusing that Havoc people who had literally nothing to do with this or even play the game anymore care enough to come in and stir things up.

Umm, Why would you think that? I have like zero videos of me soloing in GW2 in SPVP and a crap ton in WvW...because I didn't play SPvP. I want the game to be like DAOC...ya know..the game its designed after.

Also why are you telling me to go solo a emp keep on a competitive campaign during primetime? Read what Brian Wheeler said, an UNDEFENDED keep should take a certain number of players a specific amount of time to take...I can solo an undefended keep...I'm vastly sure a lot of players could.. I can't solo a defended keep either...But that doesn't mean the game should be designed around just that form of play.

I also am pretty sure no one would tell a group of 7 they were zerging....

Now you can continue to try and make excuses for why you choose to zerg; I personally don't really need to hear them because that's how you choose to play the game... and hell i've zerged plenty of times myself...But I certainly wouldn't film myself zerging and expect people to be like "Wow such amazing skill" ...The Video was unwatchable... Its nothing against you personally but that's just how it is. The game just doesn't work well for videos when ya have that many people running together.

None of these things would be problems if players just stuck with one faction. It cheapens the Alliance War concept. When you say Horde or Alliance you always can expect a spirited discussion. In this game it's meaningless which faction you play for, and this leads to trouble. Remember the troll-camping nonsense?

They should have made accounts faction-locked. People who are only in it for themselves are one of the biggest problems in real life and in this game and allowing players to be multiple faction makes PvP crappy. End of.

I play this game because I wanted to play a team game with real strategy and tactics, but then there are some people who are just like, "eeh I'll just play on my blue now lols cuz I can get moar AP hurr" well F that.

4 is Small Man, 8 is a group, 12 is a raid, 16 is zerg, 24 is a zerg.

You went ahead and made a rebuttal video which clearly left out a ton of the fight, yet you labelled it as all of the footage from Friday night.

At this point the only people going on about "VE being the best omg" are people who latched onto something that wasn't even in the original post and won't let it go. I already said it was not in good taste and apologized, if you want to discuss it further that is on you, not me.

Eh, it's more than fine. The situation has been surprising for many of us in VE leadership. We're used to working with the faction and believed we had come to that point in DC after all these months, so this sudden turnabout caught a lot of us off guard. While this has been unbelievably messy and in many ways a Housewives-worthy dramafest, considering the rather dull state of the game lately I'm hopeful we will all survive ;)

And again, no need to apologize. I've said many times on the forums that if you have issue with the goings-on of the guild, let me know. It's only fair someone takes me up on that once in a while.
