If ZOS wants this game to last, they will need to improve the games player communication tools. Right now, voice doesn't work for groups larger than 4 people on console.
Option. Option. How can ANYONE argue against an option, you can shut it off and ignore it to your hearts content.

So the voice only guy gets to make my choice for me?
We don't need charts, graphs, footnotes, studies, or statements that all console users are noobs. This is an MMO. ESO dropped the ball on not including a Push To Talk option, and a text chat option.

It doesn't? I played during beta and at launch and mostly played in Cyrodiil with ~20 person groups. Voice chat worked fine then, is it broken now?Option. Option. How can ANYONE argue against an option, you can shut it off and ignore it to your hearts content.
It's really easy to argue against an option, even this one. A player who only uses voice wouldn't necessarily want other players using text chat because then it becomes difficult for them to communicate unless they begin using text chat during those situations.
I think text chat would be a nice addition, but that doesn't mean I have to be blind to the counter arguments. There are always different perspectives on every situation.

Because it would become a damned STAPLE for those who don't want the feature....
They would be FORCED to view a chat text box and type in it to obtain w/e it is they are looking for...
If text chat came to consoles, people would stop using Voice Chat unless in a hardcore dungeon.
WTF are you gonna do? type LOOK OUT MASSIVE AOE INC, HOLD BLOCK...
by that time, your group is wiped, because your raid/group leader is scared to talk into a mic, and requested 100000 times on the forums to get a chat text box.
fight strats would become essays spread from one end of the text box to the other filling it up..
voice communication is the BEST option for calling out ACTIVE PVP plays...
leme type "look! a massive zerg is coming to the mill" "from what way" from the south no from the west... by all the time you type that CRAP out your group is overtaken, and no one survives....
GET OFF the Text Chat on consoles... its a foolish idea one that was phased out when the console game was released.

But you are forgetting that there are already many people the player who is only using voice can't communicate with, because those people can't use their mic. The point is, you already don't have conversations with these people. Giving them an optional text box will allow them to easily chat quickly with others like them, and those that aren't so uptight about using both.
Why would an optional text box suddenly make you concerned about what others are chatting about when you never even communicated with them before a text box? If you are afraid that the people that are currently using voice will quit using it if they get the option to use text chat, then doesn't that mean that voice only isn't as great as some are making it out to be?

Why wouldn't you use voice chat in those scenarios? Text just gives players an alternative for when they are unable to use their mic. Mind you, they can still hear voice chat but are able to reply via text. Better for them to not respond at all though, right?

Stick to your keyboard and mouse guys!
I don't want annoying text on my screen it is not very immersive.
You will never have text chat on xbox one. Xbox is pushing mic chat and i agree with that.
You shy nervous pc people need to come out of your shell and start talking to real people. Everything in this world cannot be via text.
