Console players how do you feel about having no txt chat?

I know it has been brought up to death and with good reason, we really, really need an optional chat window just like the PC version.

I mean all other console mmo's have one and there still doing ok because they have an in game community, something ESO is lacking IMO and I blame no chat box.

I am tired of spending near or over an hour waiting outside a dungeon or near a world boss, when! I played on PC for a year and got all this stuff done quick and its because of the chat box.

VC is not good for this kind suff and I am expecting alot from these upcoming group findet changes, although i feel it will not be enough.

It is a simple thing to add and aslong as its easy to hide then what is the problem ZOS?

I would love to be able to spent hours in game waiting for groups but I just do not have that time anymore unfortunately, so can we please have this essential piece of what makes a real MMO come to life, because at the moment its just not the same in a very depressing way IMO.

Hopefuly zos you come through on this soon I hope.

I don't really care about text chat. I don't have a keyboard. I guess it would help those who need/ would like it implemented.
That is what messaging system is for, I guess.

Why start a new thread about it then ?

Not really fussed about it at all. Having more options is always good though, so not gonna say it would be a worthless addition for me personally.

Get by fine using a mic. I've found the only annoying people are found in cities, not IC or Cyrodiil and if someone is annoying, I just click on them, then block them via LIVE. Doing that more or less means you won't see or hear them again.

Personally I don't want or need it, I never have a problem getting a group, selling stuff our just having people to chat with but then I'm lucky, I'm in a nice casual guild with some really great chatty members.

Text chat, on a console, very clunky. I really don't mind it. I manage quite well and I think it makes people actually talk more than most wood. The emotes are great and you can kinda get most messages across OK. How about a flag system where the group leader can plant a flag to let everyone know where to go? ESO so far does most things really well and I don't see that text would add anything social to it.

I would turn it off if possible. I've never seen a chat box that wasn't poorly moderated and spammed by trolls, ESPECIALLY on consoles.

After playing Neverwinter on Xbox, I'd rather not have text-chat. It's nothing but endless spam for websites that exist solely to steal credit card information. "Power leveling service!" "Buy Zen/Crowns Cheap!" You get the idea. The moment they get reported/blocked, 3 new dummy accounts pop up in their place. I haven't logged onto NW in a few months and the thought of what that text chat might look like right now is why I have no plans to log back on anytime soon. It's impossible to block them all.

It makes looking for people to do vet dungeons and the like a nightmare.

Voice chat is always and I mean always filled with people smacking metal spoons on the bottom of bowls next to their headsets (this happens waaaaay to much believe it or not) or someone blasting music.

Sometimes you get people talking about "Yeh bruh, I bench 9000 lbs, how bout u?" and other silly things unrelated to the game outside the Undaunted area.

There is downsides ofcourse but like I say an easy hide option and problem solved.

I have played all the console mmo's and I used a controller just fine. I would much rather have the option.

The pros to having one are endless, better community, easy grouping when you can call to all in a zone and be specific about what you need, roleplayers and better guilding tbh having guild events and such can be a waste of time most of the time.
    The list goes on.

But optional so we can ignore the spammers i mean its not like players are using VC for anything good most of the time (when it works which is never)

I dont know though maybe I should give up but its a huge mess up there side IMO.

By comparison this type of text chat is not typical on Warframe, FFXIV and DCUO. Perhaps it's just an Xbox thing or perhaps it's a lack of moderation on Neverwinter?

How is this any different than voice chat? At least you would be able to communicate with every player in your guild, find groups quickly, and communicate with others while in group chat. Furthermore, reports against player behavior in text chat are actionable and can result in insta-bans for using offensive language; I wish voice chat had this.

I've been keeping an eye on the PTS group finder thread, and it seems it's still not working how it should.

ZOS really need to pull their finger out and give us console players the tools we need to run the content when we want to run it.

As a long time MMO player... I feel a little lost and out of place at times, kind of like I am playing a single player game within an MMO world. Lots of times I have wanted to ask in zone chat for help/advice or an open group invite and been like.. "ohh wait, I can't do that here!".

Lack of text chat (or more specifically, lack of any type of zone communication) was the reason I left. It basically became like a 'Skyrim 2' for me. Run various NPC given quests, come back to town, dump loot at nearest merchant, and back out to find more quests. Though this pattern didnt bother me in Skyrim, it did here.
Perhaps because I had already played the PC version of ESO, so I knew how many things I had been 'locked out' of in the console version such as group dungeons, trading with other players, doing dolmens and world bosses etc.. Console players who are against text chat have been saying for a while that its not needed to do these things, they are not mandatory to the game. Though I suspect the ones who say this are mainly PvPers (as I believe its mostly PvEers who call for text chat) I do suppose they are also right about this. Its not mandatory to do these things, but still I figure why should I settle for ESO 'lite'? Its mean its still a nice single player game, but honestly to me there are better.
I will just keep checking back here, and when they add some kind of zone communication (text chat I think would be easiest to add, but doesnt have to be) I am more than willing to come back and check it out.

Up until recently I was purely a PvEer and still didn't miss text chat. For me personally, it has never ever been needed. I can't think of a single occasion when I've thought I've missed out on something because there was no text chat. Group dungeons, I have almost always found people there and if there hasn't been (silver and gold), I've asked people over chat in my alliance's main city and have had a group within 5mins.

Again, for me personally, I could think of nothing more cumbersome than typing a few quick messages using either an add-on keyboard or a normal keyboard when playing on a console. If i feel a game really needs a keyboard, I'd buy the PC version. Like i said further up, more options is a good thing, so I'm not exactly saying you're wrong and I'm right.

What i will say, I think some people who gripe about not being able to do this or do that don't even use their mics and then come on here moaning because people haven't magically read their mind in-game. Then you have those that also complain about finding it hard to group because rather than ask over a mic, they go around just pinging random people to group. Unless I'm stood outside a dungeon or inside a dungeon, I never accept random group requests. Because other than that, I'm not a mind reader and have no idea why they'd be pinging me. If people in cities can't be bothered to tell me why they're wanting to group, then i can't be bothered accepting their random requests.

I'm the same with group invites, never join one if the person inviting doesn't speak to me first. I'm the same with guilds, though I have found a nice one as my primary now, as what's the point in joining anything where people won't, not can't, won't communicate.

Well I haven't had to put anyone on my ignore this in game so I guess am lucky. You could just use Guild chat me and my guild mates do it all the time when we run dungeons or in PVP.We run the dungeon and joke around with our fellow guild mate with ease. Its not difficult and if someone wants a invite they just ask us and when we stop send the invite.Am sorry but it's not difficult some people just make things way harder then it has to be.

I believe I mentioned this before with Xbox Guild sharing you can just use another account and play with no problem and this won't stop people from making multiple accounts to try and scam people and spam text chat with bots saying you want to buy crowns/guild websites.Am not against text chat being added but I know its just going to be horrible and full of spam.

No, you don't know. All you have to reference is the quality of the player currently using voice chat. If voice chat is horrible then text chat will have the same players acting the same way. Besides, no one is saying that text chat would be mandatory, just turn it off just as players have to do currently with voice chat.

I feel the console versions are just merely a cash grab to sustain the pc version, while they use the console platform to work on certain elements to incorporate into the pc version (controller support with console UI, voice chat ect).

The console has a lack of options and a lack of communication and I don't see anything being incorporated into the console platform from the pc version coming anytime soon.
