The skill has almost no use besides being a escape, except in the case of the combo cloak + veiled strike, which requiers a lot of skill to be used with the always in-movement enemies in cyrodil.
You do realize that being able to disappear & reset the fight at will is doing something? Good nightblades use cloak to set their opponent up for killing attacks. Bad nightblades use it only to run away. If you were to go through this thread (and others like it) you can identify the good nightblades from the bad by how they use the skill.

Hydrocodone✭✭✭Respect, one of the few NBs who can be honest. It's a shame to see all the NBs try to derail a thread by one of the most respected players in the game. Cloak should be an escape and if you decide to re engage you should not be able to get away so easily. The combination of cloak spam, the nerf to detect pots and stam regen is too much. I have to sit there while the NB cloaks for the 7th time and decide if I'd rather hold block and get no regen or take an unmitigated WB from stealth.3 -

What's wrong is that unlike cloak, there is neither a potion nor a skill that would make bolt escape fail and not work. The ability of a nightblade to run away already has counters that bolt escape never had.0 -

Cloak is fine as it is...there are plenty of counters - easily accessible to any build.
NBs hardly do any damage to anybody. All they can do is run away from people who refuse to use any of the counters available to them....

I'm using cloak to avoid attacks and counter with a stun or a heavy attack.
If I rly want to escape I'd use shadow image, one of the most underrated skills, and not cloak, a skill which is easily countered.
Unlike classes with shields I can't precast some defense and engage since I would take a full hit if I do so.
Perm cloak is surely annoying but I haven't met a single enemy killing me with that and he won't get away that often either.
NBs: Mark
DKs: burning embers (breaks cloak once), cinderstorm and all other AoEs.
Sorc: thundering presence / streak / encase
Templar: jabs, Caltrops, flare, potion, any other AoE
Can you imagine how it's like to see your cloak breaking everytime you try using it without even knowing why or how?
You don't even see who's using a potion..
I rather fight two nightblades than a single Templar, simply cause their group support is far more dangerous than a little cloak those NB use to get away from me.

✭✭✭I use cloak only for getting rid of debuffs or to reposition myself around enemy. Since I am a Stamblade bowtard I have little Magicka and can only cast it 5-6 times and half of the time it fails due to detection potions.
Yes, a magicka NB can cloak more. But as mentioned above there are more then enough counters which every class has access to. Bolt was an escape tool used as offence tool so it was to powerfull. And it didn't break when an NPC guard spotted you.
Cloak works fine. If it was less, stamina NB's would have no defence whatsoever. Bowtards even less.
If Zeni should do something now, it is getting rid of animation canceling. It's just stupid.

They are not complaining. If Templars and DKs were not so pathetic then they wouldn't be asking for BALANCING. Not crying. But they are. So they want more balancing. Any that say cloak is not OP compared to those classes is biased.
Fix those classes and people won't complain. But right now that skill completely negates the dk class which is DOT based now. They have nerfed dk and Templar and dk into oblivion. So yes balancing is needed.
Or don't. I don't care. Players just won't come back to this game. And more will leave.
Pro tip. Slot mark target because soon it will only be nb's and sorcs.0 -

Sweet, didn't know the one about shadow image. I always used the twin duo since it's fun against perma blockers (which aren't around that much anymore)
Burning embers I knew about. The reason I don't get near DK's that much.
If I get home tonight I turn back to the Dark Side. My Breton will become magicka. I never liked skirt and sticks. But I do find the NB skills more fun then the weapon skills.
I wonder if I put no weapon in my hands if I can still cast NB skills. I want to go unarmed. (I do know you can't switch to other bar so if I have to use only one bar then that's the case)٩(͡๏̯͡๏)۶

And templars cleanse DOTs as a part of their normal rotation. And sorcerers are not affected by DOTs in the firstplace, courtesy of shields.

Careful sir. You are asking for balancing. They won't like that. Dot removal going away would be a step in the right direction. To have a skill that makes you invisible and does a purge is crazy OP.
You can have our self heal and shield. They are worthless. I will take that skill0 -

I've never had a problem with streak, so I'd be fine with it not having a penalty.
As a Templar you can use flare, detection potions, bombard/steel tornado (If stamplar), Caltrops, Detonation.
I play a stamina nightblade without mark or any other AoE and I don't have any problems against perm cloaking nightblades.
It's not like they can kill me by going invisible. As soon as they pop out, I stun and burst them.. If they don't then I'm fine with it. A running nightblade is not worth spending my time on.R.I.P Dawnbreaker / Auriel´s Bow

NB will never get "nerfed". Cloak is finally working how it should.

Yes, it's working until you fight a NB using shadows or any DK using burning embers.
Burning embers will break cloak, even if you remove the dot with your cloak, at least once. If you're too lazy to slot any of these counters, why should cloak get punished for it!
It's like I'd complain about streak cause I don't want to slot a gap closer.
There is a cloak morph which breaks on dots, just saying.
Okay on my templar i'll just get my self Mark target on my quickbar, since thats the only one that really works and totaly aint a NB only skill..... then lets remove the streak penalty since like u say its ''Just slot a gap closer''
I've never had a problem with streak, so I'd be fine with it not having a penalty.
As a Templar you can use flare, detection potions, bombard/steel tornado (If stamplar), Caltrops, Detonation.
I play a stamina nightblade without mark or any other AoE and I don't have any problems against perm cloaking nightblades.
It's not like they can kill me by going invisible. As soon as they pop out, I stun and burst them.. If they don't then I'm fine with it. A running nightblade is not worth spending my time on.
Again why should i slot flare or anything else... if ZOS just see it like well just slot flare or a gap closer then streak would not have been hammered, and now that cloak is in the same spot that streak was befor, its only fitting it gets the same treatmentName. Anish

There used to be a potion before that made streak consume magicka and fail.
There used to be a skill before that made streak consume magicka and do nothing.
Before, casting streak while standing in the middle of a caltrop field made the streak fail.

You compare the main defense of a class, which is easily countered with a movement skill of a sorc, which main defense shields are.
Cloak isn't comparable to streak, no matter how you look at it.
If you break my cloak it means that everyone is able to attack me. You use a potion or flare? Well it makes me visible for everyone.
If you streak away or Shield, only those with ranged attacks, gap closers or in case of shields, users of Shield breaker could bypass your defense.
Cloak works like a dodge, streak won't dodge anything.
Streak is a movement skill, cloak is not.
Streak deals dmg and stuns, cloak does not.
Make cloak absolutely unbreakable and only the one with named counters can attack you, but not break cloak for everyone else, then we could talk about possible penalties.R.I.P Dawnbreaker / Auriel´s Bow

if its just useing a counter then streak would not have been nerfed if it was JUST use a gap closer to follow the sorc, at least with streak u chould see where the sorc is goving, a NB spamming cloak u cant see where he is running to
