It takes way too much time to find small scale PvP atm, it's discouraging... And when you find some, you usually get overrun by a zerg, or a friendly zerg comes and ruins the fight. You can also get instagibbed, because hey : why should I have an interesting fight with an opponent and defeat him through superior skill, when I can oneshot him from stealth and grab my hard earned AP lolz
The two go hand in hand. Fast kills are critical for a solo'er because one of two things will happen, your zerg will roll him or his zerg will steal your AP. You would see less pure dps ganking builds too if less people thought it was "skill" to perma-block while spamming heals/bubble waiting for their iWin ult/dps combos.
Just saying, the evolution is driven from both ends of the spectrum.

@Vis
I've been playing a solo build since release that doesnt require huge burst damage, I try to outsustain my opponents.

I think PVP as we understand it is dying. After playing in the IC, I've got to say there was a lot more cooperation between the factions than I expected. Those bosses are pretty difficult for non-PVErs, and going in with PVE gear will most likely get you killed. So there is a big balance between players. The TTK increase has forced cooperation to take down decent players and the "release" revive system has you back in the fight in seconds. The reward/loss system is interesting and is a lot like gambling. Sure you might be a good player, but a NB kiting a boss to you and picking you off when you're low health means a loss of your precious stones. Surviving groups is easier with all the buildings and ground cover; I've lost quite a few players by ducking under staircases. Then there are the safe zones in which you can see and be near enemy players, but both are protected as long as you are in the area.
It's a different game.
It's kinda funny. What I see is older players who don't like change or can't change as the metas change say pvp is dying. Kinda like all the Dks said the game sucked after they were nerfed.
Don't these people see all the new names around them daily? Sometimes you have to slow down and look. There are way more people out there than that guy you always kill or your rival.
I made a new build a few days ago. 1 1/2 years into the game and I'm still coming up with new ways to kill. For me and a lot others that's why eso pvp is special. There's nothing like it on the market. ESO pvp ain't going anywhere anytime soon. You might be lol not ESO pvp though.
I see new names sometimes, but I also see that even after lowering pop caps and doing away with most of the campaigns, the remaining campaigns are still far emptier than they used to be.
That seems to imply that ESO is not picking up enough new players to replace all those leaving.
It is on PC too with the 3 hour out of 24 hour lag. These people are nuts.Console lag is almost non-existent for me. PVP is alive and flourishing!

Exactly my point. Good luck finding 1v1s where you have the time to "out-sustain" your opponent before his or your zerg shows up. Otherwise, accept the reality of the zergs, adapt to making fights faster, and collect AP. Pure dps builds evolved because longer sustain fights have been harder to find than ever before.
Maybe make the major district bosses scale number of adds summoned/damage of boss scale to number of players in its area of reaction/aggro range?RinaldoGandolphi wrote: »
IC looks promising, but I have little faith in the players of this game, who have a tendency to look for safety in numbers and zerg all day.
Yup, the fact you lose stones to other players when they kill you and ...yup....zerg it up is my prediction for the IPC.
See those blobs in Cyrodiil? the ones that cause lag, they will be coming to the IPC at launch....how is ZOS going to deal with them?
The PTS is a lag and crash fest most of the time now, if this is any indication of whats to come for live then this should be lovely.
yes agree.. maybe only solution is to allow 4 ppls grp inside, add some auto grp disband fuction if u are above 4 grp members.. they said small scale, so make it small scale.. but even not grped, they still will follow the mass, so probably won't work. bleh..

Exactly.
The reality is not difficult to recognize. I'd love to go back in time to the glory days of ESO, but those times have passed.
Even the trade guilds are dying....

Only two campaigns maximum poplocked, and that only during prime time, and often not even then. We used to be able to regularly lock multiple campaigns at once, and that was back when the pop caps for campaigns were higher, and we had more campaigns for people to spread out to.
I'm sorry, I don't like it any more than you do, but Cyrodiil does seem to be far less populated than it used to be.
I guess people see what they want to see. The trade guilds I'm in have wait list... We've never seen things eye to eye though. It's kinda funny. Plus pts...
I think there is a difference between dying, and normalizing.
People are far too quick to have knee jerk reactions and scream doom without really looking into things.

Imperial city is our last hope. If the lag isn't resolved by the release of that, PC NA PVP = dead as a doornail.

No one from Pride is left? Wow...I quit this game then came back to all my former guild mates quit so......... I Say yea this game is on its deathbed for PC players, if your a game company that pulls gestapo crap on the forums trying to keep there game look clean as hospital; but have surgeons that are straight up murdering its clients then yes they really Don't know what there doing.
I would probably just put my resume in to help fix this game and I don't know how to make an MMO.
