An increase in VR without new content. The game was made to be VR10, and game content can you that far. Now there will be 6 levels added with no content added.

I for one am taking this as an indication of more content coming with the increase. Also try not to spread misinformation while true the origanal content got you from 1 to v10 lower craglorn was released with enough to get to v12 and upper had enough to get to v14. Dont know about you guys but seems like a pattern to me.

Is that the same as the " they didn't say which July" defence.

You fanboi defence of them is laughable, you should put it on stage.

I'm not defending anything. I'm just sick of people flat-out lying about "ZOS lied". Like I've said many times in this thread, I don't see how increasing the cap makes sense if you're going to remove VR entirely, so obviously I don't agree with their plan. I'm not going to make up complete lies about them because I don't agree with their plan, though. That's the difference between you and me. I prefer to talk about what is and isn't a good idea rather than just smear those I disagree with.

And how are they supposed to know what will be 'the truth' half a year after the telling?

By having a proper business plan, confidence in the competence of their employees and a genuine passion for their game.

    SWTOR announced FE at E3.

To all intents and purposes that release date is now set in stone, 4 months from now.

If they can do it, Zeni should be able to do it.

That they can't is quite worrying.

    It suggests:

    1) No clear road-map for the game ahead, so that resources are pulled between conflicting deadlines.
    2) A lack of confidence in their staff to be able to deliver on what was promised.
    3) Taken together that indicates that a) they have no idea what is actually involved in delivering this game and b) they have no idea what they are doing.

Now, is there anything in those three points I have just made that DOESN'T fit with the known facts about the last 12 months of ESO?

    All The Best

You can have a proper business plan, you can have confidence, competence and a truckload of passion, and you still won't be able to guarantee that what you planned half a year ago will be possible today.
Because you cannot possibly anticipate everything that happens in those six months that will influence your plans.

Plans are plans, not contracts written in stone and signed with blood. They are a statement of intent, nothing more.

(Next up in 'explaining the obvious': Water is wet, and the pope is catholic. Stay tuned!)

Ah yes but what plans actually came true in case of Z.? When over 90% of your plans go down the sh... its good to rethink your strategy.

With people having a full roster of geared V14 this is the only way Zenimax is going to get the end-gamers to continue to pay for ESO+ when there is NO DLC to justify the monthly cost
Everyone knows the phenomenon of trying to hold your breath underwater - how at first it's alright and you can handle it, and then as it gets closer and closer to the time when you must breathe, how urgent the need becomes, the lust and the hunger to breathe. And then the panic sets in when you begin to think that you won't be able to breathe - and finally, when you take in air and the anxiety subsides...that's what it's like to be a vampire and need blood.

Just watch the Twitch video. Eric Wrobel went into quite a bit of detail as to why veteran ranks can't be removed just yet. They are ingrained into ESO in such a way that they cannot be removed until an entirely new system is created to replace it.

Honestly I think this is it. People need to watch the video. I completely understand not liking the increase in level, but what exactly do they expect to happen if vet ranks get removed right now. Either you lose all your gear and progress as you are dropped to level 50 or you become level 63 which is functionally the exact same thing.

I think the no new content frustrations(completely reasonable) are being expressed through this vr thing. I'd have to imagine that had ZOS implemented new content on a consistent basis, or at the very least changed the vet zones so they're not just a rehash of the other factions, no one would care about vet ranks.

I always thought that they were removing veteran ranks for champion points.

Doesn't this just make it worse?

They were and they told us this multiple times: They lied.

Why look for malice where simple human limitations suffice? Could they have believed the removal of VR ranks was best and said so? Could they then have figured out it would be very hard to do this and easier to simply change some of the xp requirements? Could they have become gun-shy about communicating to people that assume malice? Heck, the worst that can be said is that currently, they have changed their minds. That and that they don't communicate well.

The whole: "THEY LIED!!!!!!!!!" line is a bit old. It reminds me of the old meme showing a guy that can't go to bed, despite his wife wanting him to. The reason? "Somewhere on the internet, someone is WRONG!!!!" Such vitriol!

Learn to live with change because that is what life is. Ask yourself this: are you enjoying the game? If yes, continue playing. If no, stop playing.

This is the second time they have increased Veteran Ranks since they started talking about removing the Veteran System and Veteran Ranks.

The first time was to allow advancement in Upper Craglorn for the players who were already at the top Veteran Rank.

ZOS is obviously not ready with all of the level and itemization changes necessary to remove Veteran Ranks. They very clearly stated that it is still a goal, although still a long term goal. They also stated that they would not just be replacing Veteran Ranks with new levels, which is a popular theory in the forum.

Once again we are on the eve of a content update like Upper Craglorn with no place for Veteran Rank 14 players expand. Since Veteran Ranks are going to part of the game when these areas are opened, there needs to be character advancement in the Veteran System. Enter Veteran Ranks 15 and 16.

Players will be advancing in both Veteran System and Champion System with the new content, just as they do today with the existing content.

And stop with the boldface and CAPS lock with the whole right now nonsense. They announced their intention almost a year ago.

The only thing directly contrary to removing veteran ranks eventually is not removing veteran ranks ever.
And they announced no such thing.

Yes a linear patern which forces players to follow a narrow path instead of actualy exploring the game in a true Elderscrolls fashionable way.

Removing the VR rank would be very beneficial for the game for a couple of reasons :

    1) Removing VR lvls would open Cadwell's Silver/Gold content to none linear exploration.

    2) Give acces to a higher variety of gear sets which are currently unusable because those are exclusive to certain VR caps.

    3) Make PvP more accessible to players because they wouldn't be forced to grind their way up to VR14 (or 16 whatever) to even get a chance to beat other max level players in PvP.

By increasing the VR cap, ZOS is just adding a new time barrier to players already up to VR14 and making all the progression spend previously toward ressources and gear a complete waste of time.

ZOS is basicaly wasting time to waste players time for something they will eventualy remove from the game in the future... Which I believe, in my honest oppinion, is just pathetic!

Vet Ranks in general are a slog that discourages continued play, and xp pots/scrolls kinda come across as lazy way to extort players out of money to get through them faster. Especially given that leveling to 50 is extremely easy by comparison. Its like paying micro transactions in mobile games. Which is a practice that I personally find despicable

Making them easier to climb before eventually removing them completely makes sense, however adding 2 more ranks makes no sense what so ever, and seems to completely go against the end goal.

I would like to note that this post contains no personal attacks or insults

    Really.

I mean, we already have CP for 'character progression'. I just want some cool new loot to go after both solo and/or with groups. I don't mind VR increase as long as gear progression actually goes with it rather than crafting the same tired old sets at a new VR level.

ok cool someone wit a reasoned answer I'll address the points in order

    1) cadwell silver/gold is linear by nature the quests and many story follow a path from beginning to end in every faction removal of vet ranks will not change this.
    2) so would making more gear sets available as they are doing and also if all gear was available at all ranks why bother having any levels as this is not specific to vet ranks alone.
    3) you are not forced to grind that is a choice i have got to v14 on two characters without grinding.
