And they can continue doing exactly that w/out using the text chat, as many have said before.
What is the issue?
Adding text chat for those who wish to use it does not in any way cause all of the voice chat implementations to cease to exist.
And honestly, if they can do well enough to play this game while legally blind, they should be more than capable of utilizing the text chat if they DO want to, or simply NOT use it at all and nothing will have changed from their current experience.
Again, PCs will soon (tm) be capable of using BOTH text chat and VC. Why do you want console gamers to be left behind simply because you prefer to only use one avenue of communication that you can STILL continue to solely use? : /

They spend their money and make choices just like the deaf, non deaf or anyone else. They choose not to buy a game that the company clearly says it won't have VC. If they did and complained, I'm sure it would be met with a logical response of 'it's not offered, why did u even buy it?' type responses...and rightfully so.
defcon.dealer1b14_ESO wrote: »Again, we console players do not feel left behind if there is no text chat in our console games.
You're missing the point here. Your friend would be missing out on some, but they would not be blocked from all communication the way people unable to use voice chat are here. There is no reason people should not be able to choose what suits them and their situation best.
You seem to be trying to speak for all console gamers.
Yet, I and many others in this thread are console gamers and have expressed our interest in text chat.
So clearly you do not actually speak for console gamers. In the future, you should probably limit your voice to just yourself, since that's literally the only person you are honestly speaking for.

Why should my friend miss out on any coms? No matter if vc is not blocked or not ....on the chosen console version?
I agree with there is no reason people should not choose the game and platform that best suits their situation/s. My friend, it is the console version....ur 'friends', Pc version. Both have their needs met.
Or everyone could have their needs met, just the way that it will be on the PC soon enough.
I'm sorry, but your blind friend not wanting to miss out on "any" communications is simply not a compelling enough reason to shut out the entire console playerbase from an optional text chat box, especially when they are already missing out on coms right now just by being limited to zone / guild / area / etc.
And more especially since the current workarounds involve going outside of the game to log into websites and forums just to sell your things outside of guild, recruit people to your guild, band together to take keeps and defend resources, etc.
How does your blind friend handle these things right now, I wonder?

With a statement like that, then I'd say there's no reason the hearing impaired etc should get text in a console version since it's already available on pc.
I'm not sure and cannot answer for ppl who choose to stay out of area chat or trading guilds/guilds in general or groups to make trading etc simple..... I guess going on the fourms is wat they choose to do if they ignore those available options.
My friend chats away with folks in and out of groups. I think I pretty much covered wat he does in game..and even if not, I'd hope the obvious would shed light on ur confusion on wat he does about the 'walkaround yada yada'....but just to recap...he logs, we hook up, he chats, we chat, ppl chat he enjoys his time.
The ps4 ppl we've hooked up with at times have been great. The situation is explained about him just being in the group for chat and not one person has complained. He's had a great time so far. We also roll other console games and have the same fun.
Again, quit trying to speak for other people. Your opinions are only that, your opinions. They are certainly not mine, and I have a sneaking suspicion that I've been playing on consoles for FAR longer than you. ; )
Your friend is only playing to talk to other people, then? He's not actually... playing the game at all?
Why can he not do that if people who prefer to use chat boxes to sell things and recruit for guilds and activities are typing to each other?
He can still log in, hook up w/ you, chat w/ people about whatever as much as he wants to. Text chat doesn't hinder this in any way.
You keep dodging this question, and I'm curious why.
PS) All those people you claim to be speaking for... they can speak for themselves. They don't need you to be their spokesperson, and most probably don't even believe that they exist.
So let's just drop the act and speak for ourselves. Those who agree w/ you can chime in and say that they agree, or even just click the Agree button. It's really not that difficult.

Again, check the polls..I'm not the only no vote for text
Wow, ok..so ur older than I am? lol....oook, I fail to see the point?

You seem to think that I am not a "console gamer" because I have a differing opinion than you. I am simply saying that I've been a console gamer for almost as long as consoles have existed, so clearly that train of thought is incorrect.
You may not be the only "no" vote for text chat being implemented, but those people voted for themselves and they can speak for themselves.
You are not some kind of PS4 messiah that speaks for all console gamers in a fight against the "evil PC master race" trying to get their claws into your peaceful lands by poisoning the waters of consoles w/ their terrible crusade to give gamers the choice to use whichever they prefer.
So please stop acting like it, hmm?

Sorta like u 'speaking' for the pro text ppl in posts 55, 58 61?
I am a console player who bought this game and doesn't want text chat added..as several others do not. lol@ PS4 messiah....you mad bro? No need to be
Mic up, group up, guild up and have fun!
Plenty want this feature added. I don't see how it would do any harm or hinder anti-text chat people's gameplay. Just make it so it can be disabled by people who do not want it.
Really want it as well. I just can't enjoy the game as much as I can without it.
As a sign of how much it effects me, I am not spending any real life money on ESO Plus, Crowns, or any other "extra" thing unless text chat gets added, period. If it gets added though, the first thing I'll do is buy $100 worth of crowns to show my support that ZoS is listening to customers.
We're not going there. Nt, though.
You seem to be confused. The "us" I'm referring to are the posters in this thread who have already gone out of their way to express those exact opinions.
You will notice that they also agreed w/ my post as well as quoted my post in agreement.
I am NOT attempting to speak for all "pro text" people and would be extremely remiss if I were to try, as I can only either further elaborate on what's been expressed by others or express my own thoughts on the matter, which I have mostly done the latter.
No, I am not "mad bro", I have been a pretty constant advocate of the game and its balance, accessibility, and transparency of mechanics from the very start. I don't feel that your solution of "just use voice chat, who cares if things are really clunky w/ VC-only as compared to its PC cousin" is an acceptable one.
You see, I actually care about this game and where it's headed. You seem to only care about yourself and are using the illusion of being backed by many silent, voiceless "others" to make it sound like your opinion is more than just your opinion.
When they start chiming in for themselves, we can discuss this like rational adults w/ the rest of them as well, but I am not going to give any credence to any voice in your argument but your own. That's simply how the real world works.
It would have Zero effect on anti-text chat peoples' gameplay if they make an option to disable it if they don't want to use it.. Why not try to make everyone happy and not give one side the virtual middle finger?
