Stop even trying to convice defcon or even give any reasons for it since the refuting point is just going to be:
    1. Go get a PC
    2. I cannot do voice on PC so you shouldn't be able to do text on console
    3. Cause i don't want it
Some want it some don't. There are positives and negatives for getting it.

If that is supposed to be a reference to what my replies are, it's not entirely correct.

Continue to roll the PC version if one wants text.
Buy the pc version if one wants text.
I've rolled ESO, EQ2 and Rift on pc...and used text and vent...so I can use vc on pc just fine.
I've more than explained why I and others don't want it added to the console version.

The 'us' I'm speaking for have posted in the similar threads that got combined to this small one. again, the poll speaks volumes that it's not just me and my opinion/want.

Maybe the others who have voted nay and have posted are tired and or over getting flamed by the yay sayers, so they have already made their point and feel no need to jump on ur merry-go-round. Or, they could be in game micd up, groupd up/guild'd up while u try to nit pick my reasons, and I keep my stance :)

U make a lot of assumptions about me and my views....lol, I really don't feel the need to defend my stance on how I want this game and future Elder Scrolls games to succeed. U have my permission to speculate all you wish and u may also not accept any or all of my replies/posts/opinions concerning this game....I don't mind bro ;)

My comments have been 100% based on what you've posted here. No assumptions have been made whatsoever.

If you dislike the way that you've been portrayed, then you may want to take another look at the manner in which you've represented yourself.

I'm not going to respond to posts I didn't see or read, that would be silly. Instead, I've responded to what has been written here.

Those who care will share their thoughts on the matter, for or against the addition of an optional text chat to go alongside the already in-game VC setup. And if they have more compelling reasons than those you've displayed, I will gladly be accepting to those reasons.

However, nothing I've read thus far would be inconvenienced in the least bit by its addition, and many things would be enhanced by it.

I've been asking him this question for 2 pages, but he doesn't really seem to want to answer it, so it's kinda hard to actually respond or have any kind of meaningful discussion about the matter w/ him.

And these masses of players he keeps claiming to represent haven't really chimed in yet either.

Perhaps given some time, now that they are closing all of the other threads about text chat on consoles, others will post about why they feel that text chat shouldn't be added or how it will hinder their in-game experience moreso than not having text chat hinders using the in-game systems that were designed around having text enabled.

Plenty of ppl are always looking for ppl to game with. It's diff than PC

    AND

    This exists too https://www.eso-lfg.com/en/

The simple fact that people already feel the need to create a 3rd party off-site website for grouping ... just proves how much text chat is needed to be added back into the console versions of ESO

I'm guessing they don't want the poll showing just how overwhelmingly it numbers of those who want the text chat , or want the option , vs the ones who don't want to allow anyone to have it.

The argument from those who can't type is that they would be expected to have a keyboard.

If voice chat is so wonderful , only a few of us will be using the keyboard.

Or could it be that zone wide text chat , guild text chat , random stranger text chat would me more convenient for many thus they would choose to use it.

It's cute how scared the voice only folks are of even allowing the option for others to use text chat.

Many people just don't feel comfortable chatting with strangers on the mic. It's kinda weird and awkward, but give them text chat, and they will be much more open. I'm one of those people, it takes a while for me to get comfortable talking around strangers. Give me text chat, and I'm happy. I will gladly call for help, answer people's questions if I can, and just join in random conversations with people. It's fun, convenient, and way less intrusive than hearing people breathe like dogs or having to hear people's crap music.

My wife is actually one of those people too.

She suffers from extreme social anxiety (and I probably shouldn't even be writing this, I'll be in the doghouse if she happens to read it), but MMOs and other online activities are one of the ways that she can enjoy being social on her own terms.

In the console version, she's terrified of speaking to strangers or letting others hear her voice and is immediately put off by any experiences that force her to do so. Even in other online games where voice communication is crucial, she makes me do all of the talking and we just tell people that she doesn't have a mic (she does, she just isn't going to use it).

It's really made the experience a lot less enjoyable for her, but I also realize that she is a special case, so I'm reluctant to even use this type of gamer as part of this debate.

The simple truth is that text is great for a lot of things that are very clumsy to do in-game at the moment, such as selling wares, finding people in zone to do content w/, etc. Voice Chat excels when you are actually in a group trying to do said content or need to adjust to mechanics or changing situations on the fly.

I feel that they are both an integral part to the enjoyment of the game and the experience itself would be all the better for adding an optional method of communicating via text for those situations that text chat is simply better at.

The quickchat wheel is nice, but leaves much to be desired when trying to recruit members or sell items, etc. And having to leave the game is simply not an acceptable method when trying to utilize the in-game systems that exist.

Was really looking forward to playing this on my PS4 and on jumping into Cyrodiil - my favourite aspect of the game on my PC - I was utterly flabbergasted that no zone chat had been implemented and that the LFG and typed zone updates were just not available! Haven't bothered to log in since and won't until such time as this is implemented... Shocking design decision.

I don't blame her. If I was a girl the last people I would reveal that to is the general crowd in the lowbie cities of an mmo. The garbage girls have to put up with from anonymous adolescent boys (in particular) makes me want to put my fist through the offenders mouths all the time.

I would only be comfortable on voice chat with guild mates who are more likely to behave themselves.

So please stop acting like it, hmm?

Personally I don't want text chat and I hope that if ZOS implements it they make it optional and something that can be turned off and hidden from view.

I've never played an online game where text chat was anything but vile and full of hate speech and gold sellers spamming their wares.

So add it if you must, ZOS, but please don't force us to see it.

On an even more selfish note, I sit at a keyboard working for 10 hours a day. When it's time to play a game I don't want to have to bring a keyboard along. I played ESO on the PC, if I'm going to be sitting at a keyboard anyway I may as well keep playing on the PC with the better graphics it offers.

During the console PS4 beta I was one of the forum supporters of having text chat on ESO. However, I have changed my view and realized that It would be a pain in the arse laying back in a reclining chair trying to keep a keyboard on my lap typing on the console game. The mini keyboards that you connect to the controller does not allow both typing and voice chat at the same time, so that would not fix this problem. In addition, I could foresee groups and guilds saying voice chat only, or typing only; which wouldn't be good for any-ones preference.

In addition, I could foresee groups and guilds saying no voice chat, or no typing; which wouldn't be good for any-ones preference.

On PC, I joined a guild that decided that you had to be part of the Daggerfall Covenant ONLY, and could not have any alts of any other factions and if you DID have any alts of other factions, you had to delete them.

I have some multi-50 crafter alts in Ebonheart Pact, because that was where my family wanted to play when the game launched, and as most of them stopped playing I rerolled most of my active characters to DC, because that's where I had wanted to play from the start.

They wanted me to delete my multi-50 crafters to stay in the guild.

So I left, because that guild was clearly not a very good fit for me.

The reason I've mentioned this is pretty simple: If a guild is trying to force you to use something that isn't your preference, you don't have to be a part of that guild. Guilds are a dime a dozen.

If there was a guild that discriminated against people who were of (for example) Hispanic origin, I wouldn't suddenly say "Let's just not have Hispanics play this game at all, so it won't be a problem".

I just wouldn't join that guild...
