Even here it's been shared that it will intentionally be different from PC

CONSOLE RELEASE DATES
We also announced that ESO's console release date for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 is June 9th, 2015. Since the announcement, we've frequently gotten a series of questions along the lines of “what took so long?"
It's actually pretty simple: we wanted to make sure the console version didn't feel like a port, but like a game designed specifically for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. There's a lot of variance between these platforms and the PC or Mac, and the game needs to reflect that. When you play ESO on either console, it should feel like the game was made for that platform.
Also, as we worked on parallel teams to develop the console version, we had the initiative to improve the console experience by taking advantage of voice chat and adapting the game for play on a controller. This led to the development of a completely new user interface, as well as many features that take advantage of the built-in services that the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 offer.
I hope fans find the wait worthwhile when they jump into the console versions in June.
And even this which was updated but even in Jan 2015...the console were to have limited keyboard support

Sorry, but I don't just get where ppl are coming from and why ppl are all over the place about this. It's been the plan for over 2 years

Wrong ....source: http://www.reddit.com/r/elderscrollsonline/comments/2tfb48/welcome_to_the_eso_tamriel_unlimited_aua/cnyig5xHi ESO. I have been looking forward to this game all year and can’t wait for it to become available on the PS4. I would like to know if Chatbox will be available on console versions, as it is on the PC? I am deaf myself so I would be relying on Chatbox to allow me to communicate with other people on the game.

Yes, you have the option of using the text chatbox on console as well. Furthermore, you can plug in a standard USB keyboard into your PS4 and use it to type, if you want.
The chat window collapses by default, but can be pinned to the HUD if you want.
As much as you want to spin it text chat was part of the console version of ESO till they took it out just before the beta last month.
Why would you go off anything not on the official site?
Now I see why you have this point of view.
There are lots of "wrong" and "bad" info posts from their staff
Some even on these threads regarding console. O k...most are wrong from the staff regarding console but they will go back and edit them
It's why I made the thread and continue to update the info.
I do see where you're coming from. Sorry you got bad info

You're all alone on your little island of denial. It's funny.
So according to you, ZOS is so talented that they made a console game in a year? They didn't use anything from the PC code? All new! Awesome!
What's the classes we get to play? What races are there? Are there factions? Will there be pvp? What's level cap? Maybe we should post a whole new set of questions about what will be included. I this awesome, new game!
/facepalm
I got grand idea, use mobile to chat in consoles games! Sony/MS take notes pls.

Bubbles vs chat box (just the visual presentation)
Isn't it the same with a different position on the screen ?
Kinda like subtitles. Subtitles go under the movie (these days in the letterbox black area).
If we added bubbles to movies instead of subtitles.. see what I mean?
stefan.gustavsonb16_ESO wrote: »On the topic of the chat wheel, I think it's a highly situational gadget of very limited use, similar to emotes. As a means for communication in a game as complex as ESO, I think it's a joke that will only cause frustration. However, that is my opinion, and I may be wrong.
Borrowing the words of William Ralph Inge, there are two kinds of fools in this debate: those who say "This is old, and therefore good", and those who say "This is new, and therefore better". Most issues are usually quite a bit more complex than that, and I am not going to spell certain doom for the console game just because it lacks one feature I would have expected it to have, even if it is a feature that was supposed to be in the game until the recent and sudden change of plans.
Text is an old form of communication, but it's certainly not older than speaking or making gestures, which we have been doing since the dawn of our species. On the other hand, written communication to convey messages over long distances predate voice-based telecommunication by thousands of years. The telegraph had already been around for decades when the telephone was invented. Written communication is definitely a lot better than speech for overcoming language barriers. Role playing issues and the motivated fear of harassment are also perfectly valid arguments strongly in favor of text based chat as an option.
The written word is one of the greatest inventions in the history of the human mind, and it's unreasonable to dismiss it out of hand as being useless for a certain demographic as long as they are literate, or to say that it is now irrelevant for a certain purpose where it has proven quite useful in the past. It's also unreasonable to say that it is the only possible solution to a problem, even though I am not convinced that the announced features are enough to make the social interaction in the game work the way I think it should for the game to be enjoyable.
In any case, this debate is now rapidly approaching the point where we will see who is right. In little more than a week, the console game will be released and the reviews will be in. If the game does well without text chat, fine. If it doesn't, well, then I'm sure we will get to know a lot more of why people who actually play ESO on console would like to have it.

I'm very impressed at the level of detail and options as well as insight for console. That level is not present on PC today. After seeing the shows and reading their threads and even this article the company seems to have found their footing.
It appears that both console and PC may have some awesome experiences coming soon this summer
You have got to be freaking kidding me ????
Insight? OPTIONS? detail?
Options? ... so we have 2 controler layouts to choose from ... some audio options, music, voice overs, effects, etc ... abitlity to turn on/off the status bars & adjusting the screen brightness.. oh boy I'm not sure I can deal with all those options there.
They had the "insight" to not include push to talk for voice chat so everyone & thier brother are gonna be running around with open mics.
They had the "detail" to remove text chat excluding deaf & mute players, non-english speaking players, as well as a large portion of female players that don't want to deal with being hassled by anonymous creeps in game.
What console game in 2015 has the level of detail that you expect from ZOS?
I hope ZoS is ready for some really really bad reviews and reception over this huge oversight.
During Console beta people were pretty vocal that removing the chat box was a bad idea.
When the game is actually released on console and the masses see the lack of an essential communication format (chat box) for MMORPG, they are not going to receive it well. Expect ZoS to get a lot of flack over this.
So because you dont like to see peoole being social...that means the chat log was unused. Because looking for people to play or people to buy sell thing with. Is spammy crap?...traigusb14_ESO2 wrote: »I hope ZoS is ready for some really really bad reviews and reception over this huge oversight.

Maybe Maybe not.
Played Neverwinter on Xbox and the text chat was almost completely unused from what I saw. 99% of the handful of typing I saw was spammy MMO annoyance crap "WTS and LFG" when everyone else was using the tools in game just fine. Voice chat was relatively well used (still a lot of people with poorly configed mic/speakers...) in groups.
I'm willing to give it a chance in ESO.

It sounds like the radial chat text will get use after all

What everyone thinks here won't matter. We will see if it assist in getting bad reviews come release. The PC wouldn't be affected by that because there were no things omitted or not allowed. Don't like ESO's UI info? Get an add-on. ESO don't support controller? Get xpadder, motionjoy, or pinnacle. ESO doesn't natively support voice chat? Get team speak or make a program for voice commands.
There is hardly any work around for console. If a feature isn't there, it isn't available unless ZoS adds it. The chips are down, hope it turns out for the better. I think the game will be fine, but who knows with the self entitlement in games lately.

Yea mmos probably armt the game for you.
Never mind the fact you can hide that chat log, if that "spammy crap " bothers you so much
Yep...same experiences as you since Neverwinter betatraigusb14_ESO2 wrote: »Naivefanboi wrote: »So because you dont like to see peoole being social...that means the chat log was unused. No people really didn't use it. had nothing to do with me. I want people to be more social... spamming a message every 30 secs is not social.
In several months and 3 max level characters... I saw maybe 1 text thing a day... seriously. Apparently there was a zone where a lot of the PC neverwinter people hung out and text chatted, but I never tripped over it, or ended up in that instance.
Every text chat I saw was a WTS or a LFG. And yes it is spammy, becasue there was an auction house and a perfectly good LFG tool... and there is a /LFG channel in neverwinter too, which I had off).
When I was playing any number of other MMOs with a /trade channel there were always people spamming /general with trade crap. You ask them why... reply is always "well people turn off /trade chat".
It is all about intentions.
I'm not against text chat, just saying that it was available in Neverwinter and not widely used on the Xbox one.

I didn't mean that in the literal sense. I meant yes some are happy things and some aren't. But that the effect of the choice ZoS took with omtting text box will not be fully seen until launch.NewBlacksmurf wrote: »No idea why ppl think not having a text box drives bad reviews for a console game when all the reviews so far regarding the console beta have been very positive. Really? Then, in that case, ESO won't have a life longer than any other pop-up MMOs.
