Bubbles vs chat box (just the visual presentation)
Isn't it the same with a different position on the screen ?

AND it doesn't stay on the screen blocking your view
Pre-typed text vs manual typing
-Huge difference as far as time and simplifies interactions

Kinda like subtitles. Subtitles go under the movie (these days in the letterbox black area).
If we added bubbles to movies instead of subtitles.. see what I mean?

Absoulty terrible idea to remove text chat, it's been present in every console MMO released that has come from PC, it works perfectly fine on DCUO and FFXIV and there is not a single reason why it wouldn't work on this game.
Give it a month or two for people to get sick of screaming kids in the cities and guild chat, everyone will end up in parties like most already are and the social side will be almost totally dead

The Chat box is on the side, and can be made smaller, the bubbles are directly over the character. I turned them on a couple of times and they are not hugely intrusive, but something I would have to get used to seeing pop up.
As for the premade phrases, its about the only way to do chat if you don't have a keyboard. For game situations, there are not all that many things that need to be said. But it obviously won't support a conversation about some topic.

I think it'll be interesting how these predefined phrases take on different meanings than what was originally intended. If any of you play Hearthstone, you can send one of six predefined emotes to the other player and that's it. Based on the situation, an emote like "Well Met!" can have a very different (usually sarcastic) meaning.
I know he will be resting well now,

I'm invested in Xbox One but this article was playstation blog today. Within the article are some screenshots but at best we will have to wait until next weeks ZOS Twitch Live presentation where they said they will show this.@NewBlacksmurf Do you have any screenshots of the chat bubbles on console? My concern with them is:
1) If I miss it, or want to refer to what was said moments later, its gone. I cannot scroll to see it. NOT a major issue though, just a realization.
2) Even if they are only visible briefly, how does this affect my line of sight in a busy part of a city? Will I not be able to see the crafting table 30ft from my position through all the bubbles fading in and out? I agree with the subtitle positioning comment above for this reason, but have not experienced it 1st hand.
3) If I turn the bubbles off am I still able to see the animations that go with the selected action?
Thanks

I do not believe these radial chats will stay up long so more than likely it's just a visual text representation of a player emote action. Let's assume 2 seconds but again all I know is what is in this article and what was talked about on the ZOS April Twitch Live

@NewBlacksmurf I read the article, and looked at video and pics, but it only shows the wheel, not any actual chat bubbles, which is what I am looking for.

As anyone can tell you, I like the chat wheel, and I'll probably use it a ton.
However, it makes me wonder what "Cycle Quest" will be mapped to now.
That was kind of an important feature in the beta, and I hope we won't have to open the journal, pick the quest, confirm tracked, then back out of the journal just to change what quest shows up. Still, between Cycle Quest or Quick Chat menu, I do prefer the Quick Chat menu.
In the beta this was assigned to right d-pad, and the article says nothing about it.
@ZOS_JessicaFolsom - Do you know?
