I just can't even imagine how guilds are supposed to work given these limitations. The console version is supposed to support guilds, right?

I've been wondering about that. I'm assuming you're supposed to invite them to a group or send them a XB/PSN message if they aren't standing right next to you for silly chat bubbles to show up.

Are you referring to the radial chat options or something else?

Yes the console does support guild as well as a new console forum to be added soon.

There are actions just like on PC....I realize people on PC often times use .commands but even on the PC UI you can invite into a guild just like invite to a group/party

I meant the chat portion. Like sending one of the 500 guild members a message/question. I suppose you could use in-game mail, though a more real-time solution would feel more proper for the action.

you just talk or if you really felt you needed to, send a console message to X amount of ppl

Its going to drastically differ from PC, you gotta let the PC ways go...open your mind to some new possibilities.

So you mean that there will only be a single "channel" within the guild voice chat? So if I were to speak to the guild, everyone would hear it throughout the entire guild rather than just proximity? I'm confused.

There are at least 2 guild chat voice channels. normal and officer (access to which can be blocked by rank). I'm assuming sub channels because 500 people is a lot.

You can send an xbox party invite though the guild member list IIRC for a private chat
You can also send and Xbox IM or voice clip chat message through there too.
It is xbox chat functionality, but triggered from the name inside ESO.

    Not sure bout PS4

But I'm trying to clarify, /g2 voice chat is a single channel where potentially hundreds of people can talk at one time right?

Also doesn't this sorta punch a lot of holes in the whole fanboi immersion thing? Right there allows effective communication across the entire battlefield in Cyrodiil in coordinated guild events.

I think everyone who has never experienced the console version is doing a lot of jumping to conclusions...thus the meme a few pages back.

The complaints from BETA were....some wanted the text chat box
No one had issues using any of the communication channels but some don't prefer speaking to people.

The channels have a couple of options and also realize just because the channel is open, you would not have more than a few speaking at once.

Not sure about the fanboi remarks as I'm sharing what is on the console version and helping people are seemingly have concerns regarding the radial chat article.

All this other text chat stuff....to be honest....belongs on PC based on what will exist.

I'm starting to see more and more comments from people who are familiar with using the next gen consoles but who are trying to use one device as if its another which is causing a whole lot of questions that to me, don't make any sense.

A lot of these concerns are platform concerns that you have answered when you buy the console but that have nothing to do with a game specific concern.

No one had issues using any of the communication channels but some don't prefer speaking to people.

That might have had to do with the fact that the beta was a tiny group of people who only got to play it for 3 days (with no guilds).

Never heard any of the beta streamers or reviewers mention them if they were. Have you? Deltia didn't mention them, and if anyone would have tried, he probably would have.

I'm not familiar with Deltia...but there were probably no reviews as the guilds work exactly the same.
There were a lot of requests for a companion app to manage guilds as the UI is different from PC but otherwise its exactly the same.

This is where some of the comment from others may come from regarding guild chats.
-One example is where on PS4 if in one chat another gets disabled which seemed to be a PS4 bug as this didn't happen on Xbox One

Anyways Guilds were open...the entire game was open as this BETA was the full game minus any patches for release.

I think he does a very good job of showing the console off and there is A LOT worth watching cause its not the same as PC as as many have said and continue to say..

You've never seen that creepy looking YouTuber? Best to avoid it then. :)

    O K...now I'm... Google "Deltia"

I find the few videos I've watched very bland and uninformative. Plus he looks like a creepy kid I went to LEO academy with...

seems like a regular dude from the one vid i watch...it was short but he basically did exactly what I did as well as many others on Xbox One. I think he does a very good job of showing the console off and there is A LOT worth watching cause its not the same as PC as as many have said and continue to say..

The console version is a lot more polished than PC...its going to be a big deal in a few days.

Wow. You noobs don't know who Deltia is? He has 7500+ followers on Twitch playing ESO and runs Deltiasgaming.com. He has more informative videos on ESO than anyone out there.

He"s mentioned in the ESO live videos more than once.

Kinda makes me wonder if you even play this game...

I'm 41. I spend my time playing ESO, not watching some other guy play ESO.

No one had issues using any of the communication channels but some don't prefer speaking to people.

That might have had to do with the fact that the beta was a tiny group of people who only got to play it for 3 days (with no guilds).

Why do you assume no guilds were formed in BETA?

Never heard any of the beta streamers or reviewers mention them if they were. Have you? Deltia didn't mention them, and if anyone would have tried, he probably would have.

I'm not familiar with Deltia...but there were probably no reviews as the guilds work exactly the same.

He plays a lot more than you do. Doesn't hurt to watch his tutorial videos. Helps you get better. But im sure you dont have time for that either.

    The game is easy.

I have a VR 14 and some VR alts... and have done everything but trials (and I don't have the time or connections to become Emperor).

I've got nothing against him at all. Good for him, being there to help out.

I just don't understand the you tube/twitch thing. Watching other people play games is what happens when you have a brother and he won't let you have your turn lol... and forums are for being at work! :D

    I have a few questions:

1.Is their a separate dedicated voice server for voice chat or is it running alongside the game through the same servers?
2.How many alternate channels are available?

I ask because things like team speak may have 100 members and takes place on separate voice servers. With ESO a server may have like 1500 players or more. If the majority uses voice chat and it doesn't have a separate dedicated voice server. That is going to be very taxing bit wise on the console game servers that can barely hold 30fps in some single player games.

I ask about the alternate channels because I wouldn't like hearing more than 3-6 people at the same time, it would get annoying. Also if everyone is one or two channels, wouldn't that make things unstable?

I don't worry about what consoles do cause I am sticking with PC. Just wondering what is trying to be accomplished here. Even if ZoS changed their minds. It's not like they can add it in now and meet the launch day on time.

They are using Microsoft / Sony'd chat servers IIRC. these are separate and chat dedicated.

There are console specific chats (like party chat that are not part of the game, but you can still use ingame).

    There are ingame chats:
Group chat (people you are grouped with)
local (this is good for all people in a certain range of your character.
    Guild (has multiple sub chats)
    more?

You can listen to any 2 and can talk in 1 (which you can switch).

Yea, he has 6 vr14s and close to two more. For those that work, have families, he helps by making build videos based on his vast experience of the classes.

So yea, worth watching to get better.

    1. Consoles have their own voice chat servers.
    - the technical answer I'm unsure of as each console handles this differently but the game voice chat works in the game similar to any other console online game. This one just has a lot more channels and options (applaud ZOS)

    2. Proximity chat, group chat, guild chat, officer chat (then think about 2 within each guild)

The channels work very well with plenty of controls in place. But keep in mind a lot of people (on Xbox at least) use party chat over game chat due to the better options and we also have a dedicated party chat server option too

    Do you have a console?
