It's not what this thread is about and frankly...I'm leaving PC because of the constant refusal of ppl to use the games system and use zone chat to play the game like another game or to just bypass things they don't like or to do things they want to do that the game doesn't have a system for.
Please stay on topic or post as this is about the radial pre-set text bubble

Hrm? This topic is exactly about communication methods in the console version of ESO. Speaking of staying on topic... why are you posting joke-meme pictures of people's World of Warcraft interfaces (the source ones you took, according to Tineye, were even made as parodies to an overdone extreme when I reverse image searched them) in a thread regarding text chat?
Let's get back on track :Attorneyatlawl wrote: »NewBlacksmurf wrote: »And then ppl for some reason want this for trading vs. a guild store....

Do you even play ESO? You have made quite a number of posts of World of Warcraft that aren't even representative of that game either, and keep trying to argue as though they are Elder Scrolls Online. This is what my screen looks like with over seventy (yes, 70 as in 7-0) addons installed because the default UI is so featureless (not minimalistic, just featureless):

I could, if I cared to, make the chat box fade out after 5, 10, or any other number of seconds I decided on of inactivity for an even cleaner screen, but I prefer being able to see things I missed while fighting or AFK a minute without having to pull it up manually, and the minimap can autohide and only show up if I press a key but again, preferences and options are good because what I like, others may not. We all saw how well it worked out removing the default UI stuff on PC (it didn't work, at all)... unfortunately console players won't be able to fix most of it with addons like we can on the PC, with there being new reaches of removing another staple online game feature, the chat box. Options are paramount: one size does not fit all. Stop minimizing the opinions and requests from people who want to play the game how they enjoy rather than just yours.
I think it's pretty clear that basic tools to socialize in an online game based on community is essential. A way to chat is one of those tools.
I talk to people in real life....I email pl in real life, and text people

text chat is an old communication method when oher technologies didnt exist
per zos, what makes sense on pc doesnt always make on console...they gave other logical reasons why it was not there
SSSOOOOOO what are your thoughts on radial article?
My thoughts on the radial text ???
It's worthless ... nothing more than a dozen or so extra "emotes" that does not address many of the issues brought on by the REMOVAL OF TEXT CHAT that we have agrued over on this & many other threads to ad nauseam.
The ONLY reason I can see why ZoS removed text chat for any logical reason was to combat a new wave a of gold sellers & if that is so, its the laziest, stupidest fraking reason in the world to do so. Not only can you ban game accounts for gold selling, you can ban the player tag & even the console, so cracking down on gold sellers would/will be much move effective on the consoles than the PC.

The reasons they stated back in April made no sense back then & still don't today.
That basicly console players wont use text chat &/or a keyboard because it was too awkward or they're too lazy to do so ... I frankly found insulting.

You have got to be freaking kidding me ????
Insight? OPTIONS? detail?
Options? ... so we have 2 controler layouts to choose from ... some audio options, music, voice overs, effects, etc ... abitlity to turn on/off the status bars & adjusting the screen brightness.. oh boy I'm not sure I can deal with all those options there.
They had the "insight" to not include push to talk for voice chat so everyone & thier brother are gonna be running around with open mics.
They had the "detail" to remove text chat excluding deaf & mute players, non-english speaking players, as well as a large portion of female players that don't want to deal with being hassled by anonymous creeps in game.
Just FYI for Xbox One at least, you can route your voice through your computer using a series of various adapters (or just a simple Cell Phone Voice Modulator works) to alter the voice to male. I know I'll be doing this. My accent is bad enough alone, let alone that problem you mentioned.Mirra_Halfelven wrote: »a large portion of female players that don't want to deal with being hassled by anonymous creeps in game.

DCUO or FF14 perhaps ? ... Both have voice chat with push to talk & text chat. These aren't new or groundbreaking features, they are standards people should expect a MMORPG to have on a console.

Mira neither are 2015 games and if I not mistaken one if not both are console with PC
I'm not trying to be a jerk but just pointing out that there are no games that exist or that will exist that meet the expectations that you describe. My personal opinion is that this is due to some of the points I've shared on prior comments but ultimately because when a game is console only, those type of options are not logical and extremely time consuming.
Could it have a text box, sure
Could it have more controller options sure
But then, if you're going to set up a console game with full keyboard and/or mouse capabilities as a developer you may as well go with PC or stay PC only.
Will it be done...probably or maybe but nothing exists or is coming down the pipeline with those types of options and interfacing.
I do think ZOS is onto something great and outside of my opinion, the console products they have for June 9th are within the spectrum of what most console games offer regardless of the type of multiplayer game.
It makes sense and is consistent which is what matters
Attorneyatlawl wrote: »Naivefanboi wrote: »I wonder why they are so against faction wide commincation in pvp.its pretty needed.
And zone wide commincation. These seem to be strongly avoided on console, seems odd.
Could there be issues with too many people in same area at same time causing the engine problems?
Thats how the lag in cyrodil works supposedly.
Is that why faction/zone wide communication is such a problem all of a sudden?
Perhaps... I don't think that's the actual reason on this UI omission, however. I'm guessing that, much like combat info on the PC, they simply really believe that taking out essential basics like the chat box and seeing how much health you have left or how hard you hit an enemy for, somehow enhances the gameplay's fun factor and socialization.

That doesn't make any sense.
And you continue to make no sense. You don't even give a counterpoint anymore. You just continue the fanboy route and don't look at things objectively.
In your eyes, this game is going to be the best game in the history of console games. Sorry, you are way off.
Radial chat was a last minute bandaid after a year of 'development' on a port, not s new game....a port with different UI. And they didn't even have to think about a new UI, they just grabbed Skyrims design.

DCUO has seperate servers for PS3/PS4 and the PC versions, FF11 & FF14 have always been combined servers ... not that it matters you asked for examples & I gave them to you. You seem set on finding anything as an excuse to discard any logical arguement, statement, or fact.
Thing is in little over a week there is going to be a mass of new people trying ESO for the 1st time expecting it to be a MMORPG, which in its current form it is NOT a MMORPG its nothing more than a than a solo RPG with CO-OP dungeons, raids, & PvP, with very limited social aspects, limted trade, & guild features.
That might be what you want out of ESO, but the mass majority tends to dissagree with you.

If that's so then neither is any of your agruements on ESO , cause it is not console only nor was it orginaly released in 2015!
I am glad ZoS position is pleasing to you. But now I have to step in. If ZoS decision is to drop text chat then that is the way it goes. But it is logical and though it may be time consuming. That should not be an issue. If a company wants to make the big bucks, they adapt to the consumer not the consumer to the company. They make it happen regardless of time consumption.NewBlacksmurf wrote: »Mirra_Halfelven wrote: »NewBlacksmurf wrote: »Mirra_Halfelven wrote: »NewBlacksmurf wrote: »Mirra_Halfelven wrote: »NewBlacksmurf wrote: »
I'm very impressed at the level of detail and options as well as insight for console. That level is not present on PC today. After seeing the shows and reading their threads and even this article the company seems to have found their footing.
It appears that both console and PC may have some awesome experiences coming soon this summer
What console game in 2015 has the level of detail that you expect from ZOS?
Hmmm... lets see
DCUO or FF14 perhaps ?
Those are 2013 titles not 2015 titles which is what I asked.
Check the social media and the console forums if you feel I'm under a false state of mind. MMORPG on PC is built and designed with PC in mind. MMORPG on console is built with console in mind.
The type of game doesn't drive the communication forms but rather the platform s drive the communication types.
It just makes sense

And ESO was released on Apirl 4th 2014, so whats your point? Are you suggesting my statements aren't vailid because there isn't a console only MMORPG that has been released 2015+ ? If that's so then neither is any of your agruements on ESO , cause it is not console only nor was it orginaly released in 2015!
The console game will release in 2015 where as per ZOS the UI and stuff for console was developed from the ground up and not a port from PC (the UI and social aspects). That is a big difference to note and why I continue as I do on this because I read comments that seem to think they are just porting over the PC game options and UI/social features when that's never been the case even back from the 2012-2013 interviews
Yes, I'm stating your answers of those games aren't valid as the point and comparisons are not 2015 titles.
They aren't next gen only titles for console
My comments about the console versions of TESO are valid as the games set to release are console only which is the big point and focus on console customers that ZOS has shared with us all

ESO IS NOT A CONSOLE ONLY GAME, nor was it orignaly a 2015 game the console version was slated for a June 2014 release but was bumped because of the total mess the PC release was. The console version has the same classes, races, factions, quests, dungeons, abilities, spells, zones, raids, geography, lore, cities, landmarks, artwork, character & NPC models as the PC version. IT IS A PORT!

CONSOLE RELEASE DATES
We also announced that ESO's console release date for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 is June 9th, 2015. Since the announcement, we've frequently gotten a series of questions along the lines of “what took so long?"
It's actually pretty simple: we wanted to make sure the console version didn't feel like a port, but like a game designed specifically for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. There's a lot of variance between these platforms and the PC or Mac, and the game needs to reflect that. When you play ESO on either console, it should feel like the game was made for that platform.
Also, as we worked on parallel teams to develop the console version, we had the initiative to improve the console experience by taking advantage of voice chat and adapting the game for play on a controller. This led to the development of a completely new user interface, as well as many features that take advantage of the built-in services that the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 offer.
I hope fans find the wait worthwhile when they jump into the console versions in June.
And even this which was updated but even in Jan 2015...the console were to have limited keyboard support

source: http://www.reddit.com/r/elderscrollsonline/comments/2tfb48/welcome_to_the_eso_tamriel_unlimited_aua/cnyig5xHi ESO. I have been looking forward to this game all year and can’t wait for it to become available on the PS4. I would like to know if Chatbox will be available on console versions, as it is on the PC? I am deaf myself so I would be relying on Chatbox to allow me to communicate with other people on the game.

Yes, you have the option of using the text chatbox on console as well. Furthermore, you can plug in a standard USB keyboard into your PS4 and use it to type, if you want.
The chat window collapses by default, but can be pinned to the HUD if you want.

As much as you want to spin it text chat was part of the console version of ESO till they took it out just before the beta last month.

I have considered the possibility when it comes to the omission of damage floaters and/or in-game damage log, that they were left out to purposely obfuscate the number of broken skills that did not work or do anything like they were suppose to do.
I don't actually believe that is the case, but I wonder if it wasn't (isn't) a nice side benefit they enjoy on a regular basis.
