i think many people are missing pvp perspective. go, find a new character and play pvp with him. and tell me how you enjoy your way to vr14, where you will be finally really competitive. from pve perspective dont matter what pve content you doing, it all scales to you, but try compete with vr14 chars (and there are mostly vr14), you have no instances for players of your strenght, you are part of world full of veterans

I agree with the OP entirely. I am not even enjoying the quests, I am just clicking through the dialog without reading it or listening to it and then just doing whatever the markers say. This is unfortunately the fastest way I have found to gain XP. My main issue with this is that I have basically no appreciation for the hard work that was put into these quests because it's too time consuming to listen to what the NPCs are saying when I am trying to just get to 14 so I can do trials. I would be nice if they had designed it in such a way that questing and leveling up were actually fun, but that isn't possible with a themepark. I am surprised that experienced game designers didn't already know this.

All of the people defending the current form of veteran ranks don't seem to pvp very much, otherwise they'd know that most fights result in so much lag that neither side can kill the other so you stand around hearing meteors go off every second and gain zero XP. Even when you can get kills, it's still an absurdly small amount compared to the XP you'd get killing regular mobs grinding.

I think we just want the vet levels removed. We were told that they would be removed a year ago, instead they raised the level cap! That was only supposed to be temporary, yet I strongly suspect that it's not quite so temporary.

Some of the quests are interesting. I think everyone has to admit that the landscaping in many areas is really, really good. My objection to Silver and Gold is that I have to proceed in such a linear fashion. And it breaks if you miss a quest on the way and cannot find it again. Your character is basically broken at that point. It hasn't happened to me but it has happened to friends. In other words, implementation is a problem here.

I will NOT level an alt until veteran ranks are removed. One point of the champion system is to encourage alts because once you get them to max rank, you have those CP to spend and you are all caught up. But right now the real V1-V14 grind is what keeps people from leveling an alt.

I believe the vet levels are not ever going to go away. We haven't heard anything on the subject for months. I don't see how the devs can possibly remove them without causing more problems than just leaving them.

I have a V11 and a new V1. They will be pretty easy to level except for having to do the main zone quests again on my v1. Other than that, music+aoe grind. Its really not that hard to do.

Need to remove Veteran levels? Why? what after then? Will remove champion system, and then levels at all?
Im V3 sorc and Im really enjoying this game. I like PVM. I like PVP too. Yes for V3 its hard against V14, but this is why lvl system is, higher lvl is stronger and that's all.
Vet system is not the problem, problem is that PVP don't give enough Exp.
Is far as I know everyone can heal... right? so need more XP from healing others, that would be a key!

I agree completely. I mean. I got a job last week, and the nerve of my boss to want me to work my way up the corporate latter and put in time and accomplishments in like everyone else did to advance. I want to be CIO like yesterday... I mean, I have to be CIO to compete with the rest of the world! it is so unfair! /s off

I guess if i hate this corporate 'grind' to the top... I should find a new job to play...

VR 1-14 is a complete and utter breeze now. It is not hard or tedious it's just something that the instant gratification generation is too lazy to put the effort in to do it. Man up and do it or don't complain that you're character is weaker. If it's that unappealing for people then it's obvious they picked the wrong game.

It absolutely IS tedious. And doing it multiple times across my 16 characters is even more tedious.

It has always been unappealing to plenty of people, that's why they announced that they were removing them. That's why we have the Champion System now, and the next phase is to remove VRs.

Not saying ZOS will follow through, but that was exactly what ZOS has told us they were doing and have never said otherwise in the past 6 months.

..maybe it's you who picked the wrong game, then?

I absolutely hate the idea of removing veteran ranks, the champion system, while nice, is still a weak replacement for vet ranks, with all the hard work that many people put into making Vet 14 characters. I really really really hope that they do not remove them.

150 lvls of content? Isn't there only 14 VR? By my math that would be 64 lvls of content. Wow has 100. Whats the issue?

What would happen? VR14 would become lvl 64? Getting rid of VR14 would really poss a lot of people off. All the gear and power reduced to what? Idk man, I really don't think ZoS could do it without screwing it up.

If they reduce the VR 14 content to level 50 content then nothing is lost. You lose 20% of your stats and so do the mobs. So what?

you lose the option to do a VR1 pledge vs a VR14 pledge.

if VR are removed SnDand changed to actual levels it will actually make grinding harder since I'll need to find multiple grind spots instead of a single VR grind spot.

Why does it matter? Just don't worry about it if you don't want to level any more.

Do I really have to answer that?

I (and thousands of other players) want to be competitive in Cyrodiil and be able to raid (trials) without going through 150 levels of content.

It should be, "Congrats you've hit lvl 50. Now, raid for gear and go compete in Cyrodiil!"

But it's, "Congrats you've hit lvl 50. Now, do it again twice, until you've played through 150 levels of content. Enjoy."

The thing is it takes two days to hit level 50...

I don't think the PvP crowed cares if they screw up pve so long as they can get to lvl 50. What they don't understand is that ZOS isn't going to just kill the whole leveling grind if/when they remove VR levels, there will be some sort of grind to replace it. And even if they did make it so they didn't have to go through S/G lines the level to 50 will be slowed down so much that it will seem like 1-v14.

Each VR is equivalent to 10 levels of XP. Stat-wise, each VR is equivalent to about 2 character levels.

That is why you are not lv100 when completing your 2nd alliance and not lv150 when completing the 3rd.

So, if you went by normal XP, you would be lv150 when leaving your 3rd zone.

If you go by character stats, you would be lv78 (50 + [14*2] = 78).

By ANY math, you would not be lv64. : P

And yet, the strange thing is, the game does actually consider a VR14 player to be lv64 when calculating damage and other equations.

Bingo. Found the problem. There is next to no reason you would ever need 16 characters in this game. You can do literally everything on one character except for your current class limitations. That being the case, the max you could ever need to do everything possible in the game is 4. If you have 16 characters, that's your prerogative, but the developers by no means have to, or should, cater to your whim.

Hmm, 8 character slots. But I shouldn't use them. Because the devs clearly don't intend for people to use their character slots.

And if people DO use those character slots, they had better NOT be leveling those toons up. Clearly not intended.

    Gotcha.

B2P folks will get to VR 3 and lose interest in having to grind out 11 more before they're even close to being competitive in Cyrodiil or Craglorn.
